"Hero" helmets were just helmets made for close up shots on screen. Not named "hero" because of Han & Luke. "Hero" props can be anything made of a higher quality than the other props.

If you have two prop guns in a movie, one made from rubber, and one real blank firing gun for the shooting scenes, the blank firing gun is the "hero" version.

You'll also see this helmet in the scene where the scanning crew is about to board. It's the "The ship is all yours" trooper.

And yeah, this is my fav.

Until I got into this Stormtrooper thing...I never noticed any of it.  I never even noticed the difference between the troopers in movies 4,5 and 6.  I love those movies.  ESB was my fav.  Still noticing new things.

As a kid I just the mouths were all different lengths, as though the empire scanned each trooper and made all helmets uniform thicknesses rather than uniformally shaped overall. I always liked the ones with the biggest frown(smile?), can you believe I went stunt? :P
