  1. yeah in the end its still awesome. OT troopers on the big screen! Was everyone really against the FO armor at first? I have such respect for its humble design considering they could have been tempted to make it all Halo-style and over the top "cool"
  2. Its not nostalgia for me on this one. I feel like if the design choices seemed more deliberately different i would be ok with it. Just like the FO troopers are obviously deliberately different. But these just physically dont look good at all for me. If there were 1 or 2 really specific design alters I think i would be a lot more into it but it just seems like they haphazardly threw some armor together and thought "good enough". The changes look more like an screw up rather than a design choice. But i know this topic is bugging me too much regardless and it really just is a costume in what looked like a nice trailer. Obviously the good trade off will be that these troopers can move a lot better and can be more convincing as soldiers. Watching them get blown up is looking good too.
  3. Took the words right out of my mouth. Let the petition begin!
  4. haha well you've got me there.
  5. Literally NOTHING about this is screen accurate dude. The backside of this armor is especially ugly. Overlaps and lines and cuts and garbage everywhere. When i was a kid i had no sense of how armor was worn, and i always imagined that stormtroopers were literally just a big one piece shell that the actors would simply step into and then the shell piece would close ( i actually thought the TD was some sort of hinge hahaha). What im getting at is- REAL stormtroopers look like a single solid piece, joints butted together and lining up beautifully, minimal blackspace and curves that flow with the body. These ugly things just look like a mess of compartments slapped together and it would have NEVER fooled my 6 year old self into thinking they are actually vacuum sealed.
  6. Out of the box- the anovos helmets looks pretty good sitting next to my TM when comparing just the general shape---that being said, the sloppiness of the build when compared to the excellent care Paul takes to assemble your helmet (if you buy assembled) is very obvious. But a couple days worth of little mods should make the anovos perfectly fine- I have 2 anovos, a TM, and a VT helmet and sitting side by side they all look pretty damn similar. The amovos helmet plastic doesnt really feel much thinner than my other lids, but somehow the plastic feels just a little... cheaper? But I cant quite put my finger on it. I may do the plastidip route like a lot of people even though Ive never worked with the stuff. In terms of matching plastic - I'd say my 1.5mm TM lid is a little creamier in color (just like the ones used on screen) but I can't be too sure since my TM is weathered as a sandy.... but if i remember back I do recall it was a nice off-white.
  7. The kit will be unavailable until further notice-- Only the full ensemble for now. There was a deadline after christmas for people wanting just the kits.
  8. Ordered day one, Apr 12. Still no word. Can't stop refreshing my inbox for a notice of shipment! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Not having to cut cover strips= amazing. Though I have worries about needing to cut ones a bit wider for my big biceps. On my current suit I think i did about 18-20mmon the back of the biceps just to cheat as much extra room as possible. Hopefully my spare plastic from trooperbay will be a good match.
  10. Wanna see a side by side with that helmet next to something more accurate than an efx-- maybe a TM or RS or something. I cant help but feel like it looks a bit more symmetrical
  11. I have to pick this stuff up at a shipping place across the border... I think they only hold orders for a couple weeks so I am wondering how I am going to do this without paying duty 2 times if i have to make two trips....... Gahh
  12. They are pretty similar if not the exact same. I think a lot of new suits were made but many were also reused... you can pick out the differences on the CRL. Off the top of my head the only big difference I remember is the handplates are all the clamshell style in ESB. The blaster also has some changes for the most part but thats been a HUGE debate on some of these forums, the differences/arguments go on for pages and pages.
  13. Just off the top of my head----im no expert but I have a pretty good idea....ANH and ESB are pretty similar. The teeth are black in ESB and grey in ANH. I think the tube stripes sometimes become one long decal on ESB when on ANH they were hand painted individually. A lot of the ESB helmets were just reused/painted from ANH. The ROTJ helmet was a brand new sculpt-- its a lot softer overall and the shape is not an exact match (to me it looks like someone took one of the old helmets and melted it in the sun). The lenses are bubble lenses always now as before just the heroes had bubble lenses. The Tube stripes are single large decals, the teeth and frown are now completely painted in, and the grey's used in the ESB and ANH helmet have been changed to a different-kind of greenish-grey tone. There also are other things like no visible screws in the ear pieces i'm pretty sure. Overall, the ROTJ helmet (and entire costume) is by FAR my least favorite and I feel that is the opinion of the majority of people on here....but there are people who love it too.
  14. I really hope it wasnt foolish of me to make my TM a sandy and am now waiting to make the anovos into a regular TK.... But I really dont see how putting dirt and a couple pouches on your armor really "hides" its accuracy. I felt that i wanted my best armor to be the costume that is the one i would probably want to show off the most, which would be the sandy since he has the cool paint job and all the fancy extras... Can't wait to see the anovos and how she will look as a squeeky clean TK
  15. I'm in Canada... Im going to be driving across the border to pick up my 2 kits at a nearby PO box. I wonder if duty fees they charge me at the border will be any different than if I just had them ship it directly to me? The shipping was quite a bit cheaper so I figured It was worth the drive across to pick them up....hopefully that effort wont be a waste if the duty ends up being more expensive.
  16. I wonder what kind of standard we should expect in the quality of the helmet assembly... will the ears have gaps? Will the brow be put on straight? Nicely trimmed overall in places like the eyes? Its a lot of kits for them to pre-assemble in a short time. How "off" would it have to be for you to actually contact them and ask for a possible replacement?
  17. From what I remember, one ear is generally trickier to get to fit on the naturally asymmetrical shape of the face. I think you will find a lot of people's ears will have a slight different angle on them in order to get the ear nice and flush to the helmet. That difference does look pretty substantial though... You could easily undo the screws and twist the one ear farther to make it a little more level and then drill new holes (the old holes should be covered by the ear so its no big deal). This ofcourse will most likely require you to do some sanding on the ear so its new position sits flush.
  18. Everyone's so concerned about the belt and TD... I feel that we have the ability to easily replace those or rebuild them. Its the look of the actual armor that I am worried about. I know i have the ability to make it "fit" real nice, but if the shape of the plastic is off and too flimsy to troop with then I start to feel sort of helpless in the matter. I know my TM kit will always be my number 1-- but I was hoping that they would both appear similar enough when standing next to eachother. The pulls do look REAL sharp- Maybe it will look really slick when its all put together, but I always enjoyed the softer more "organic" design that the stormtroopers have.
  19. i guess the helmets and fake guns thing is very understandable. But Lightsabers? A plastic tube with blinking lightbulbs?
  20. For me, im not really putting any reliance on the soft parts or strapping being something that I use. But the armor itself looks pretty decent, even good enough to spark up some debate whether or not it is based off RS if you look further back in this thread. So for my 350 it seemed worth it. I also ordered day 1 or 2, so I guess I will be one of the first to find out how it actually is....a bit of a gamble i guess.
  21. Ahh I was actually referring to a TB scout helmetI have. None of my TK buckets use glue.
  22. What about for someone who has constructed a helmet with E-6000...and a bit of the smell is still present even though the glue has been dried for months...?
  23. Hero helmets can be seen sprinkled throughout the movie
