Snaps[TK] Posted February 15, 2015 Report Share Posted February 15, 2015 (edited) First mission of 2015 is complete and successful! It was the Dayton OH Techfest 2015 event. Its a convention for kids showing them technology, science, math, etc. This was my first time and I was really impressed with the event. The model rocket club had two mini R2-D2 models that I kept trying to take but the girl there wouldn't let me near him. I even hid behind one visitor and moved her over so I could grab R2 but they didn't fall for it. They showed us an exploding Death Star and laughed...not cool! A lot of people were surprised to hear me through my amp box. Had some kids taking a break laughing with some trooper dancing skills. Had a blast doing this event. I'm always amused (amazed?) at the standard response when you speak to someone "They can talk!" ????? Of course we can talk. This was an event to raise money for families who have gone through the loss of a newborn. A co-worker of mine runs Lillian's Leprechauns Team and I was honored to attend. Had a lot of fun. Here's some pics.... The team My co-worker...he's tall enough to be Chewie...it was raining but didn't stop anyone from having fun I was walking and all of the sudden I couldn't move. This little boy had come running up to give me a hug! Rebel sauce The awesome team leaders. It was selfies all around Cincinnati Reds mascot Mr. Reds...first he tried the force on me but we ended up friends Even the dogs dig the stormtroopers....when you're holding a treat That smile is what its all about! This had vendors showing everything from special needs cars to musical instruments. Along with the Ohio Garrison Speeder Bike, we had blast-a-trooper booth that was a hit and raised money for Families with ASD. It was an honor to be at this event showing support! A fundraiser for a boy in need of a new special aid van. From what I hear, they raised $5000 The Superheroes and SW characters with the guest of honor Me meeting the guest of honor. Love the smile! Sorry boss....I had to have a balloon hat This jawa gives me rabbit ears all the time....payback time! Stand back...we got this! Meeting with Cmd. Cody and jawa. I got a new addition to my armor.... Showdown with Jack Sparrow I won of course Into the police cruiser My favorite moment....slow dancing with Wonder Woman! Fire department....real heroes She was pointing out the boy she wanted me to arrest He was showing me how to dance Wonder Woman.....nuff said! Outside the Cincinnati Gardens....so much history in that place! Snaps[TK] Posted May 26, 2015 Author Report Share Posted May 26, 2015 I had the great honor to troop at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital on May 21st and then at a birthday party for a little boy who is now fighting cancer for the second time. The smiles on the kids faces are priceless. These touched my heart so much and meant so much that I could help them forget reality for a few moments. One boy at the hospital was in a wheel chair but he found the strength to stand up to have his picture taken with us! Glad for the bucket cause I teared up seeing that strength..... Out of respect for the privacy of the kids and families, I will not post any pics with the kids. Hospital - May 21st Okay, so I'm no artist Birthday party May 23rd We were waiting for the b-day boy to get done with playing laser tag. He had no idea we were there. The smile on his face when he saw us is something I will always remember. This event was short notice so the way the Ohio Garrison came out, I became even more honored to be part of the 501st and do things like this! Gotta remember, "Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid." Overall, looks like you had a great time at the Gardens. As for the Cincinnati Reds game, looks like a blast. Star Wars nights for Minor League are always fun but I've never gone to an MLB one, I'd love to compare the two. I'm disappointed in myself cause I was supposed to go! But had to work late and couldn't make the hour drive to the game. Cincinnati Children's Hospital, It's always an amazing feeling seeing the kids freak out seeing their favorite movie characters come to life. Great work as always Snaps! Keep it up!!
