HawkFan24 Posted June 17, 2014 Report Share Posted June 17, 2014 Looks like your shim on the right side popped out? I don't have any experience with shims so I can't really give my two cents. Someone else will chime in. I did notice however that it looks like your TD screws are Phillips instead of slotted screws, I don't think it affects your application but slotted screws are screen accurate. The vertical ab button plate may need to be trimmed down a tad so that it doesn't extend past the raised portion it is mounted on, you did it right with the main ab button piece. Looking good though! A few things that may need to be addressed......There is a lot of gap between your shoulder bells and you chest plate. Your left side/right side detail photos are a bit blurry, hard to tell from your right side detail photo but there may be too much overlap of the ab/kidney, you may need to retake them to be sure. The paint on your ab buttons may be a bit generous leaving the button area and may need to be sharpened up a bit. And I think maybe your eyes could be trimmed up a bit more. Also your ear bumps are painted incorrectly. The last bumps(towards the back of the helmet) should be black, not the second ones in. Elastic straps on shoulder bridges could be a tad thicker and a little too much bronzing on your blaster scope. Many of these things don't affect EIB but moving forward to Centurion might be things to attend to. As always, don't make any changes until instructed to do so by the DL. Great work overall! As for the shoulder bells, Im going to reposition my snaps inside my bells. Making them off centered to pull them closer to the chest. The close up shots for my left and right side kidney, I went ahead to retake the pictures. For the bumps on my ears, I will repaint them tonight and retake those pictures later on. Some trimming and blending might be in order to clean up your overall look. I also just noticed that your TD clips are a bit too far in from the end caps. You have come a long way and you should be proud of your accomplishment. Thank you for your EIB application. Let's look at your armor! CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All required submission pictures have been posted and your armor meets the requirements for EIB! With that I would like to congratulate and welcome you to EIB!!!!! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: Here is where your armor is looked at from an improvement pint of view. We all want to see you on the Centurion podium looking your best to serve your Empire. Your fellow troopers have made a lot of suggestions so far that you have begun to follow up on. First I want to discuss your side shims. I will touch on a different aspect of them in the "Centurion Suggestion" area. In your front shot, the sides seems to flare out a lot. Your shims seem to be about 2 1/2 inches wide (which still blows me away that a 175 Lb. guy would need shims that large) Anyway, when shims start getting that large, you need to put a little bend on them to conform to your body shape or they will flare out like that. If you curve them, you might shorten them up a bit as well and allow you to trim a little of them away. Another things that shows in your front shot is your thighs are looking a little tubular. Human thighs are very conical; wide at the top tapering down to the knee. Your thigh armor should be the same. I am certain that if you squeezed your thigh halves in the back, you would have quite a bit of overlap behind your knee. This would go along way to a more comfortable fit/mobility and a slenderized look to your armor. Next is the should bell gap. You could just re position them for your Centurion shot (if you apply) or, in looking at your back shot, they almost look like they could be interchanged. Try switching your right for your left and see if that reduces that gap a bit. I know that shoulder bells are not set in stone as to which is right and left, but in some cases (like RS Props) one definitely works better for the left than the right. I think it was Jason that mentioned the rank bars on your ears. As long as you have it the same on both sides of your helmet and they are not on the front bumps, I am fine with the way they are. Centurion Suggestions: There is a little bit of work that needs to be done before you apply. Going back to your shims, they should really be re-positioned and blended to look more like they are one piece with your kidney. This diagram may help explain how to go about this improvement: Next, your shoulder elastic is 1/8 inch and should be 1/4 inch. This is an easy switchout. The next adjustment has to do with your vertical button plate. Both button plates should not exceed the stage they sit on. Although this pic is of a screen used suit, it is a little extreme in my opinion but the message is clear. This will also give you a chance to reduce the size of the buttons as well. The paint should not exceed the molded button edge. This is an easy adjustment. Just dampen a brush with thinner and massage the paint edge until it is removed. Mineral spirit based paint thinner will not harm your armor. I know you are going to upgrade the thermal detonator screws with slotted ones. Good choice. I also know that you were concerned about the length of your TD. According to your measurement, it is only 1/8 inch too long. Remember that the AP thermal detonator is about 1/4 inch less in diameter than the screen used ones so it appears longer even if it's the same length. What I would like to see you concern yourself with more is moving the clips closer to the end caps as seen here: Lastly, the charging handle on your blaster should be resting within the charging channel not above it. Slow and steady - just like Steve said, notice a trend here? - and you'll get where you're trying to get to. You put in a lot of work on this armor build, and it shows. You're fully capable of reaching Centurion with some pretty basic upgrades, and I know you feel rushed, but take your time and you'll be good yet again. Again, CONGRATULATIONS, on EIB!
