Creating the ESB greeblies/rail for the DVH kit

I thought id post this up, to show you all how i created the parts for the ESB Promo blaster.

 

Most of them are fairly simple, and i didnt think to take pics of the full process. The "swoop" is just a piece of ABS cut to the correct size/shape and sanded smooth on the edges.

 

The 3 round buttons are actually cast from an allergy pill lol.

 

The rail is an aluminum rail i made myself with clay under it to fill it in:

 

 

This will be cast and the rear section added, mounting screw holes added, and markings for where to place the scope..and cast again.

 

The blocks that go on the rail i made with blocks of bondo, partially hardened to get the basic shapes and then just sanded smooth. Pics soon of those!

 

I plan to make the "clips" with layered ABS sheet. Pics to follow!

So..i realized i was starting to run low on rubber so i cast the esb rail with the greeblies and rear part intact to avoid making 2 molds. So, it wont have the recessed screw holes cast in this time around.

So here is the rail....the round "button" was cast from a pill, the rear sight is one of my test castings from last time that i modded for this.

The block greeblies were made by taking a chunk of bondo while it wasnt fully hardened and carving it with a boix cutter and hobby knife. They were then fine tuned with sandpaper and the dremel tool. I then made molds of them. Then took those castings and further modded them and made new molds. I was then happy with them and glued them onto the rail.

 

The rail is now in rubber

 

This is how i made the greeblies for the side:

Basically i started with a drawing on a sheet of ABS. I layered it and cut/trimmed to shape.

I marked and cut the "C" shape

I also cut a groove into the back for that detail:

ok so ANYWAY lol....

 

the molds for the ESB parts came out good aside from one hiccup on the "other" greeblie as i called it previously. i ran out of mold release yesterday so a little part of the mold broke off in the master

Not the end of the world, just a little more cleanup on my end.

 

I also swapped the pill idea out for these screw covers. They are ever so slightlym larger, but i think they look cleaner than the Allergy pill lol.

i actually did and dint bother to take pics at the time because its a simple piece of ABS..but after this Jeff16-bit fiasco, i made another one and documented that...so i'll post that up..it will be the one in my kits. i did take photos of me making the blocks for the rail as well, so i guess i'll be posting those too, just in case.

Ok so..in lue of the recent events i now share with you the boring creation of the "swoop" and the rail blocks.

 

First up is the "swoop"

 

this literally took about 5 minutes.

 

I cut a piece of ABS to aprox size shape...

 

Then i put it up against a blaster for fine tuning:

Like i said in an earlier post, i made these with bondo.

I don't see any actual "process" here. This could very well be pictures of your recasting process for anyone knows. Your greeblies look like exact copies of tango'd fetts. Also these images could be photoshopped. There is no proff here that you created these. You are a liar taking advantage of the naive membership.

Seriously? you see no proof i created these? thats because you have no idea what your talking about. Do you mean the designs? Of course i didnt, and neither did Tango'd. They are replicas...hello!!! These parts are made to replicate the parts seen on screen and in the promo shots for the Empire Strikes Back.

 

How is this "the recasting process"?  You see it right there in front of you how i am fabricating the parts...every step...where am i recasting?

 

You very OBVIOUSLY have NO CLUE what recasting is,which means your accusing me of something you know nothing about and will make yourself look more stupid every time you do it.

 

The reason they look similar to tango'd fetts is because im making the same items! He didnt invent them, he replicated what you can see on the prop guns, which is what i am doing. Actually they all look a little off from Tango'ds im sure...and again....here is photographic proof.

 

Ah the photoshop line....how in the hell do you photoshop actual creation procedure in my house? If anyone looks at all the posts i have posted in the years ive been here..you will see the same floor and my trademark wrecked table so they are all in fact my photos.

All of this "attempting to recast" nonsense is absurd...you cant accuse someone of attempting to recast something just because they said they wanted to make it. Thats like accusing someone of attempting to steal a candy bar cuz they went into a candy store lol Even if i did attempt to do something as stupid as recast someone elses work, wouldnt it make more sense not to say "hey im going to make this"? LOL, Lou, how do I know you're not a 12 year old girl in a third world country?  You could have photoshopped a man's hands onto your arms.    Pretty soon you'll have to take pictures with a newspaper dated for that day in the background...

 

Seriously, if you're duplicating a part from a real world object, how can it NOT look like someone else's?  I ran into the same problem making an E-11 template for PVC pipe builds.  I built a template from scratch and spent around 20 hours measuring a real Sterling with a micrometer and drawing in Autocad.  Then someone accused me of copying an older template...  IT'S BASICALLY A REVERSE ENGINEERED BLUEPRINT FOR THE SAME GUN!!!  How can it NOT look like other templates???

 

I know it's a pain, but it seems you have the full support of our community!

Thanks for the clarification. Makes sense. Not that anyone can stop you from making pieces that look the same. There is no monopoly on certain pieces.

 Very true, but because he was the only person i knew of making them i had the respect to ask him if it would be ok. Because THAT is the kind of person i am. (not this "thief from a long line of scum" as this Jeff guy calls me.)
