Aosen[TK]
Thanks! Here are some pics of the lines for trimming. I'm going to trim conservatively to start with and keep going if it looks like it needs it.
Hemostat1976
Gratz!!! I too have an ATA. Awesome bucket. After a lot of nerve shattering cuts, I got it looking nice. You'll love the finished product, and the customer service from ATA is hard to beat. Don't forget that there is a right/left ear!!! That mistake hung me up for a while. Potty Meister
I love my ATA lid. Looks great. A little patience with the dremel on the ears goes a long way. And +1 for this tutorial. It helped me out a TON! http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/14806-how-to-assembling-ata-abs-helmet-1/

Aosen[TK]
Okay so here is the pics of the two main parts screwed together. I found out that ears are not fun, but after a day of trimming here they are. Let me know if I should redo anything.

gmrhodes13[Staff]
Lid is looking very nice. I got a bit bored with trimming all at once so just did mine a bit at a time and glued as I went, still didn't have enough magnets lol. Good luck with the armor

DudeSidious
Nice work on the helmet. Though it looks like you made the same mistake as me and put your tube stipes on the wrong sides. Locitus[Admin]
Yeah the inside length of the stripes is longer than the outside. Yours are the reversed, making them slant inwards instead of outwards. It's a bit hard to explain. Here's an original: And yours:

Here's an original: And yours: Please forgive my untrained eye, but I'm trying to understand you on this and the point is going right over my head. Can you give any more clarification on what you mean here? I'm sure it will make sense to me when I have more experience, but I can't see the difference right now in the tube stripes on these. Aosen[TK]
Just so I get this right... I have measurements from Ata that say the cover/joining strips are: 5/8" - Arms, 7/8" legs, and 1" for the back of the shins. You cut the strips, then mark where you need to cut the halfs so that there is no flat armor showing, half of the strip on each side. Also, are there any joints that are not butted together and have a cover strip?

Just depends on how big your arms and legs are, I have a small frame so all those measurements worked for me but if you are larger you would need to make larger cover stips. Just biceps, forearms, thighs and shins have cover strips, I put a strip on the insides too for extra strength
Aosen[TK]
Cool. I will trim halfway or so and go from there.
Aosen[TK]
So I have trimmed the front of the shins and glued a backing strip in at 7/8 of an inch. The problem is the back of the shins. This is how they want to sit, and I can pull them together just fine, but then I can't fit my feet in. I have size 12 feet, so I'm not able to slip in these things without this much of a gap in the back. Velcro seems like the way to go, but I think there is enough force from the shins that they would not stay closed. Would you heat up a part of the shin to relieve the pulling apart-ness? Also, how much do you trim off the bottom of the chest piece? This is where it is now. Should there be an indentation up by the top of the ab piece?
