I found those videos way back when I was about to start building my first kit. It was one of my main resources aside from this forum and the movie. It's one thing to see a series of photos with a written explanation and something else entirely to watch the process as it happens. It gave me the confidence I needed to get started. I am grateful to anyone who takes the time to make tutorials as I find they are essential, especially when its something you've never tried before. So for that I give a big THANKS to Mike for the effort! That being said...yeah, I spent some time drilling, filling, patching to reposition the thigh belt. LOL...

I've been working with the ATA kit for a few days now, knocking out the initial trimming and I'm surprised at how much flex it has. Now, I'm not comparing it to TM or RS etc., just saying that for being 2mm, It's not as stiff as I thought it would be. That being said, I won't know the effects till I install the brackets. I should say IF I install them. As it stands right now, seeing as I already have them, I think I'm going to use them. Perhaps if someone out there has already used them on an ATA kit specifically, they might chime in before I get to it. Otherwise, I may be the guinea pig. Mike (Trooperbay) has a video up on YouTube showing how he installs them on a kit he's building. Type trooperbay in the search bar on youtube.

Thanks for the info Paul! You would certainly know. I thought that might be the case as far as the thickness was concerned. I've only just started the build, so there still a ways to go till I get to the strapping phase. I was hoping to hear from someone who has tried it on an ATA kit but the lack there of might be an indicator. I searched through the centurion thread but didn't see any ATA/original strapping combos.

I went that route. Started with a TK and trooped in it a few times. When I picked up a second kit I decided to convert my first kit to a TD. I was itching to do some weathering. I like all the options you get with a TD. But you really can't go wrong either way...

What's the material of the AP kit? Is it similar to ATA? 2mm abs I think on ATA...

Sure, that's definitely an option that I have considered. I still haven't decided how uber screen accurate I want to go.

Hello everyone! Have any of you troops out there used the original strapping brackets on an ATA abs kit? Have you trooped with it? I'm in the process of building my ATA kit and I'm seriously considering going with the original hardware. I know from what I have read and seen that there is the possibility of cracking as a result of using this method. I used a snap system on my HIPS kit and that has worked out great on troops but I wanted to try the brackets on my next build. Does the ATA kit, being a thick abs, make it better suited for the brackets or worse? Thanks!

Alright, so you got an extra set of ears with your helmet...no sweat. You just gotta go a little at a time. My helmet is ATA as well... Here's my build http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/22534-ata-anh-stunt-helmetfinally-started/ I used a dremmel with a sanding bit, lexan scissors, and sand paper. Like Glen said " a lot of sanding and trimming" and a lot of patience. Most people definitely try for the tightest fit, as did I, however it's your preference on how tight. Look at movie reference pics and also the Expert Infantry and Centurion requests section where you'll find a bunch of photos with close ups of other troopers helmets.

Have you drilled the 2 ear mounting holes in the helmet already? if you have you'll probably have to re-drill the holes a bit lower. The ear piece in the pic can still be made to fit but it will have to sit a bit lower to be flush. Don't worry though as the ear piece will cover any extra holes. What armor make is it? worse case you could probably get an extra set of ears...the movie helmets had plenty of gaps so either way it'll be fine. Good luck...

I painted mine and it was definitely my favorite part of the build. Ingrid's got it right with brush selection, I would just add a slightly wider flat brush as well for filling in the traps. Practice on a For Sale sign and get a feel for it...and then decide. Have fun with it! Good luck! I have read where people have mentioned those brands (icomm and aker) but I haven't fully researched them yet. How expensive is rom/fx? Does it all fit in the helmet or do you where the amp in the chest plate? I do have a few small gaps around the lens so I guess I'll see...won't be long till I have an answer on that, once it starts to warm up.

Well, I live in S. Florida...high humidity and heat. My concern would be the lens fogging without them. Any suggestions/opinions on voice amplification/static systems?

Thanks. Yeah, I just gotta stay busy. Still want to figure out some electronics for the helmet too. Blasters...setting my sights on blasters next. Don't want to think about the wait...wait...wait........
