Brain Nuke's Finally Getting Started AP ANH Stunt Build [*AP]

Hey All,

After numerous false starts and a lot of, "I'm going to start working on my Armor tomorrow." I've finally started on my ANH Stunt AP Armor Build. I even have pictures to prove it. I originally got my AP back in September of last year, but other projects kept popping up, but now I've started and hopefully I won't stop until I'm finished. Please feel free to comment, because I've never built anything like this before, and I'm still trying to learn what goes where.

See I even have a tasty beverage on hand while I work.

Look at those lines! I think I should cut on them.

Ears On, they need to be sanded and/or heated a bit more to fit right. At least I think so.

Couple of questions:

1) Should I cut more of the teeth off?

2) Does the right eye (left in the photos) need to be smoothed down or is it okay to be raised like that?

3) Also, does anyone know where I can get Hovi's?

Thanks!

New Pics coming as I get around to uploading.

That's some fast trimming! Looking great B)

Teeth look okay to me, I trimmed mine just like that.

AP's right eye's bump is like that.. I believe it's no problem and won't affect your 501st / EIB / Centurion application.

Hey brain nuke! I have not built armor myself so i may not be a great source. I have looked at other pieces of these fourms and they eye in your pictures is something i see all the time. If a more expirnced member tells you to cut it, go ahead. Otherwise, its something i always see. I think its just the way the helmets are sculpted. The Helmet looks great to me, great pull. i love it haha. the teeth may want to be cut a bit more but make sure you do not cut to much. Dont want to loose that nice depth look. As for Hovi's i cant help you. sorry.

Hope i've helpped a bit. Good luck and keep us updated on your build buddy. :smiley-sw013:

just make the eyes conform to the curve needed to have the lens sit flush.

the teeth should have no lip on the sides, bit of a square lip on the top and bottom of each tooth.

how does the ears look from the rear?

nice job!

Hey all, thanks for the replies.

After getting the same warning for the eye raise, I think I'll leave it alone and not worry about it. After all, it needs a little style.

For the teeth, I'll trim them a little more on the sides to get a less visible lip. I'll post updates as I go.

@ TK Bondservnt 2392. I'll pose a pic of the ears from the rear when I get home. It's a shame I can't bring my helmet into work and continue working on it here.

Thanks again for the feedback.

Updates,

Taking a quick break from the helmet to work on the Thermal Detonator. First I need to cut it out of the travel configuration.

Once removed, all the parts have a little excess that needs to be trimmed off.

Once trimmed, each piece looks a lot better.

Look at the pile of parts I have ready for assembly, soon... soon.. it will be completed.

Looking great so far mate!

For yor frown, I'd be tempted to hand paint it, that way you don't risk painting too much... Because only the 'teeth' area shold be painted, without any on the 'lips'.

See this thread for frown references. http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=16270

New Updates, bucket is almost done. The last thing I think I need is a correct set of Hovi's

Here's the Pics, first is a front shot.

And then a back Shot

And finally close ups of the tube stripes, aren't they beautiful. I'll need to do some touch up on them but overall I like how the templates made my life a little easier.

Comments, suggestions, or concerns?

Looks great! But I would see if I could just take a knife (not to sharp) and scratch some of the bleed off the tube stripes. I did that on my helmet with no problem.

Others have said you could use a tiny bit of paint thinner, but I have not tried that myself so don't know how that will work.

  • 3 weeks later...

Hey all, sorry for the dry spell in updates. It's been a hectic couple of weeks for me, but I do have some progress to show.

First are my handy dandy TD clips, made my yours truly. I got the idea after seeing what panda trooper did for his clips on his AM build thread, thanks for the inspiration. Mostly because I was worried about the TD falling off, with this design I don't have to worry about it. Once screwed onto the clips, it's not going anywhere. It's a little ugly, but functional and once everything is fully assembled no one will notice, I hope.

So here's the final result once mounted. And if you look closely you can see where I nicked my thumb with the Exacto blade, I'm being much more careful now.

Also look at that fantastic pile of trimmed and ready to glue armor parts!

Here's the first part being glued, right bicep.
