matt black
I see what you mean about the bowl shape. Very interesting.
Sonnenschein
Thanks Eric for the pics! Rob, I (other other knowing members) think that is the main reason they slashed to bib!
Sonnenschein
oh, and for reason of accuracy, I'll include a set of fake side burns
matt black
Those are some awesome mutton chops arne't they. Will they be glued on or will we be able to use rivets
Sonnenschein
Glueing all the way! That's what E6000 is for! This would be an awesome edition for the Centurion award!
matt black
That's it, I'm doing it. Why go to all the effort of having the armour accurate if the facial hair is just wrong.
Sonnenschein
On a more serious note: why doesn't the guy wear a balaclava? In fact, on none of the neck seal pics no one ever wears one.
matt black
Maybe it was only after they realized that you could see through the frown holes and see the actors faces that they started using them later in the film.
Sonnenschein
Could be.But as I understand, the Tantive IV scenes were the last to be filmed... Are there any balaclava pics out there?
matt black
No because I think all the original helmets had frown mesh in them

Sonnenschein
Thanks! But I guess, most of us know the story about that "trooper". Maybe the balaclave was the first thing the extras removed after the AD yelled "CUT" because they're uncomfortable.
matt black
Probably. The first thing to remove to be able to cool down.
89Batman[TK]
I don't believe the troopers wore balaclavas I also don't believe the original ANH helmets had frown mesh either. Just putting this out there, has anyone seen these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-6-Scale-Hot-Toys-Original-Predator-1-Neck-Collar-/170668403633?pt=US_Action_Figures&hash=item27bca12bb1 I know this is a toy but it is based on the one they used in the movie and is not disilmilar to an ANH neck seal. matt black
Just for the record. I was kidding about the originals having frown mesh. It was a joke I had with Karin in another thread. I looked on the web for quite a while and couldn't find a single picture of a trooper with a balaclava. Maybe you are right Gary. Maybe they didn't use them at all. Sonnenschein
The balaclava just became a mystery part again. Gary, you're right. It is quite similar. But you can clearly see on the slashed part, there are np ribs.
Sonnenschein
I opened a separate thread about balaclavas Please discuss
matt black
Sorry Karin. I didn't mean to derail your thread. Very much looking forward to the next updates of your neck seals
Sonnenschein
No Rob, you didn't derail. Not at all! It was me who asked the question about balaclavas in the first place! I just wanted to have a sperate topic. Many thanks for allyour help and input!
Sonnenschein
After some old school construction, I come up with this: I even bought a childrens' compass This is just to get the dimensions right. Next step: fiber glassing, and making the details with bondo. Gee, that thing is HUUUUGE

Dday[501st]
What will you use for your neck length? Will you make Hero ones once your stunt is completed and you have the process down?
