Hmmmm. ;) Perhaps. I would think Lucasfilm made more then one of these props for the filming. It could be one of the originals. Although, how hard is it these days to pick up a MR and drag it behind a car a bit to "weather" it.......

Yea, I believe it's an original. I think it's pretty cool too, to send an original lightsaber into space.

 

its actually back and now on display at the houston space center with other props and a lifesize Xwing...... :luke3:

Sure is. In August, we escorted the saber through Hobby Airport here in Houston after it's arrival

SCH had a Star Wars day on Dec 8th and had us out. We were a hit- SCH said their usual gate on a good Saturday is about 1800 people and with us there (they even featured us in a series of TV spots), their attendance was over 4000! Needless to say they were very appreciative and are already scheduling more events and working with LFL on a full exhibit of SW artifacts.
