  1. This thread has been extremely helpful whilst I work on my FOTK. Thank you so much for posting this!
  2. Thanks so much for the link to the gasket material! I was able to find some at a Joannes near me. Awesome WIP thread!
  3. A huge welcome to you Paige. The FISD has a plethora of WIP (Work in progress) threads and knowledgeable members to assist you. Don't hesitate to ask!
  4. The empire will never turn your back on you This can only make you stronger, hang in there bro
  5. it seems my opinions hold not much value, which is understandable since im still a bit of a newb as far as costuming goes. btw was this ment to say i paid to much or to little? Sarcasm? (see what i mean?)
  6. uh, i spent 19 on the hasbro, and 20 on the mods 30 dollars is still 30 dollars this topic of "Eliteness" seems to be neverending because of all the different views. You cant possibly imagine everyone agreeing here. Even on the obvious points, which may not be that obvious to others. It does however make for some interesting reading. Im going to steer this in another direction. If i understand this right, Elite is what, suppose to be screen accurate? I for one wouldnt be in one for trooping. a lot of suits or costumes people are nagging because they arent "screen accurate" is hogwash to me. take the jawas for example. those costumes up close were ugly and falling apart. i wouldnt want that "screen accurate" because too many people would be having the chance to have a "closer look" at me, if im wearing the one from the movie, most people will think im crazy for wearing it, and for the ones who are not as knowledgeable in the costume, wont appreciate it. anyway, my wording may not be the best here, but someone may understand where im going.
  7. not to mention being able to afford higher quality....
  8. My only argument is this: When someone who is new just finished spending all that money on his/her armor, in most cases they are out of money to go the distance for an expensive blaster. Personally if I was told I couldnt mod a hasbro or use another "cheaper" way to have a blaster until i recovered from the costs of the armor, im not sure I would be where im at today. You cant assume everyone has that kind of financial ability to have both. On the topic of the F/X buckets, I agree they are a little big, but there are people with big heads, are you going to tell them they cant wear them anymore? or are you going to ask them to buy a more expensive helmet that wont fit them very well if at all. I think also with the blaster, too many kids reach for it. You cant watch every single one of them. My meaning is not that they could take it, but worried about damage etc. You cant drop your armor. my 2 credits EDIT: After re-reading my post I realized I dont really address the topic of Elite status. Forgive me for im still kinda new, far from "Elite" Then again, im not in it for "Eliteness" never knew there was such a thing beyond assembling my armor and being accepted to the 501st. Im still enjoying the looks on the kids faces when they give me a high five

  10. So how long do you think he's got before he grows out of it? heh. Thats great stuff man!
  11. first, when looking at this pic: http://homepage.mac.com/robleonard/AST12.jpg I feel like im at the Haunted Mansion where those 3 guys are looking at you as you walk by , but later you find out that your actually looking "into" a mask Second, im sorry but im not impressed with the disney stuff. the eyes are all wrong, the tits are too close on the chest plate, etc etc. I think if some guys from the 501st showed up you would see their jaws drop from under their "off kilter" buckets I know, im a hard nosed critic. I should talk, but if you got a multi trillion dollar theme park, you would think the stuff would look more authentic.
  12. Back to the original topic of this thread, Nice job man. Ide love to see this one close up.
  13. cool! that means its THAT good! thanks for complaining, move along!
  14. THIS is hilarious to watch! If you havent seen this yet, get on it!
  15. lots and lots of white frosting
  16. I know youve been talking about doing it without rivets or snaps, but the system i used is holding pretty well. I havent taken it out on patrol but ive tugged and pulled pretty hard to test my system. I took industrial velcro (the rough side) and stuck it on the abs. then took the same size strap and poked a hole in it with a soldering iron. THen used the 7 minute epoxy and glued them on after installing the snap on the strap. This idea I got from dave although I think I did it slightly different. at any rate, you can see pics of it up close ----- GL
  17. i checked on that one but no description as far as wattage goes, so I submitted a question to the seller. The F/X is WAAAAY expensive for my tastes :-/ EDIT: got a response to the wattage question from the seller: "ive no idea without opening it up , sorry , loud enough though" eh, okay?
  18. Seems like a cool idea, however if you ever want to add something to it where velcro is involved, you wont be making a very good seal. not that important to me, im leaving it. my 2 credits

"He didnt "run around" to find them. They are of an exclusive nature." So how did he gt them then? did they fall from the cyber sky into his lap? why not just publish a book? My point (which seems to be missed) is why should i pay monthly, do pictures fall in his lap every month? The books i have bought with all the "exclusive" material work just fine for me. pay once, and thats it. kinda like MMO's (which i dont play) i like to pay once for my game and play it, not monthly.

i don't see how its legal or even ethical for you to make money selling lucas stuff. I could be off kilter here, but I just cant see myself paying someone else other than an authorized dealer for high quality images of this so-called caliber. lazy people are basically paying you for images you ran around to find, make copies of and slap them on a disk. now im not going to argue that george doesnt have enough mnoney, but something doesnt sit right with me on buying SW material that i can find myself or thru lucas or even a book. it doesn't justify me paying you 20 dollars A MONTH.
