On my TK I have the wireless receiver attached with industrial strength Velcro. Then I have the Aker MR1506 10watt amp in the back armor facing outward attached with industrial strength Velcro. In back armor I also have a mini box that holds and protect my hyperdyne card. I also have 3pc enclosed battery box with switch for the hyperdyne power. I use AA size lithium ion batteries that each have 3.7volt (instead of 1.5volts). After using the aker amps i have fell in love with high voltage Lithium batteries. It takes half the normal AA and they last so much longer. Plus they are rechargeable. Everything is attached with industrial strength velcro. In my FX Stealthtrooper, i have both the wireless receiver and a Aker MT1506 10watt amp in the back armor. The amp faces outward. I also have a mini box for a old romFX and a lithium enclosed battery box for power. The FX back plate has more room than my other TK armor does. Everything is attached with industrial strength velcro. Tip: When you use industrial strength velcro, always make sure the fuzzy side faces your body. If you place the hook/rough side towards your body then your undersuit will snag on the velcro and start pulling threads...

Mike, You have my support. I am a repeat customer for a reason. I understand what you are going through cuz i am having a similar type of issue with a member. It really ticks you off. Hang in there Bro and don't let one bad apple sour the barrel.

I am little biased, but i prefer volume. So i would put an aker voice amp in the back armor. Then you can also add trooper chatter with a mp3 player at the same time to the amp. It has been my experience that the hovi Speakers are great for quiet rooms but can't be heard in crowded situations. Crowded noisy troops are typical for me....I would rather be heard.

Check with launchpad or stomper on this forum. Both sell hovi speakers. -
Microphone vs. fan placement
TK6294 replied to bluehickey's topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
Another way around the fan noise issue is a Push To talk Cable. I have four squirrel fans in my bucket so a PTT cable is a must. -
Microphone vs. fan placement
TK6294 replied to bluehickey's topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
The aker mics are directional. There is a white line on the mic tip that should face your mouth. Give that a try.... -
I sell memorex wireless mic kits that will allow you to cut the cords between your helmet and your armor. For wired mics, i can hook you up with a spare mic from my Aker voice amps. Just send me a PM and I will give you a quote. Or you can upgrade to one of my aker voice amps with come with the wired mic. They are great on on sound, feedback, and clarity. Plus they are small enough to fit into armor without mods, have built-in rechargeable batteries, and have duo input ports that work at the same time. Wireless headset mics and voice amps: ---------- To control feedback you may want to look into my Push to talk cables. I have 4 fans in my bucket and it need to be able shut off my mic because the fans are a little loud for VOX. The PTT also helps on feedback because you can release the talk button if you start to get feedback. PTT cables: --------

Blaster sound to Aker amp = possible?
TK6294 replied to pandatrooper's topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
I am able to squeeze my Aker 1506 amp inside my T21. Then i have a Mp3 player playing a repeating blaster loop. I activate the sound with one of my PTT cables with the button routed to the outside trigger. The memorex Wireless transmitter should fit inside a T21 easily. If you take out the innards you should be able to fit into even tighter spaces. What BFG are you trying to fit your sound into? My T21 (I am sure you have seen it) ----------- -
Blaster sound to Aker amp = possible?
TK6294 replied to pandatrooper's topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
Panda I wired up exactly what you are talking about on Friday. I replaced the red and black speaker line from the voice changer below with a stereo 3.5mm male audio prong. I then plugged it into one of my aker voice amps for sound. It was super loud. I had to experiment with wire connections to make it work. I connected the Audio cable red to the speaker red and the speaker black to the audio yellow cable. then left the White audio cable un-attached. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CIS3GS/ref=oss_product Note, i also replaced the mic on this voice changer with 3.5mm female port. it works well now witha better mic but the VOX on the voice changer still bites.... -
Feezle, I did exactly what you are wanting to do with the blaster sounds with my T21. ----------- That is when i first developed the PTT. Keep in in mind that there will be some very faint blaster sound still playing through your amp even when the PTT button is not pushed. It is not an issue when my amp is inside the T21 because it can;e be heard. I don't have any pause between my blaster sounds but I am using a large blaster sound so there is already a pause. Tell you what, I will throw in a CD with all of the sounds I have downloaded. I am sure one will work for you. Plus i have different time delay sound tracks on the CD. You can experiment. I would recommend no pauses. That way you have fire sounds the minute you press the button.

TCI and Radio shack amp feedback
TK6294 replied to GosHawk's topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
I tested a TCI recently with my aker voice amps. I was disappointed with it and returned it for the same problem you are having. excessive feedback and the static burst sounded like a fart. I was told that the TCI needs an un-amplified speakers to work properly. If you are using the old oblong 6aa 6 watt radio shack vocie amp then you will always have some amount feedback. If you are using the small white 9volt 2watt radio shack sound amp then you will always have a lot of feedback. That radio shack amp is not made to use a mic. it has no feedback reduction logic. IMHO, your best bet is to sell the TCI and get something else. I can supply you a much better voice amp and recommend some voice cards. Plus we have been asked by a brother not to support the current TCI supplier because of a dispute between the brother who designed the TCI and the supplier who cut him out of the business. The only other option is to find some hovi-tip speakers and try and use the TCI with that. however, the volume will be limited. You may want to contact "launchpad" from west texas. he has sold hovi-speakers in the past and has been working on improving them. -

You can pick up acetone at Lowes or Home Depot in the paint section. it is usually next to the paint thinners. -
HOWTO: Make your own ABS repair paste
TK6294 replied to TI-3844's topic in Tutorials, Tips and HOWTOs
Awesome idea! I bought a used Magma FX kit (Red TK) that is bad shape. The previous owner attached everything with rivits and they look like crap. Plus some spots have cracked at the rivets. i have been racking my brain trying to figure how to patch without having to repaint. I will post pictures when done.... -

Don't worry about the price. You can buy them at Home Depot for between $50-$60. The nice thing is the lock. We have had troop events where our changing rooms were broken into and gear was damaged and things were stolen. It happened at the SWIC at the Cowboys stadium. My bin was not touched because it was safely locked....

TX finished, time for a break
TK6294 replied to Obievon's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Great looking TX. I am finishing my TX as well. I raised this question over on the special Ops board and seeing this pic raised my question. Are your ab button glossy black or matte black. some folks say they should be glossy but i don't see that required anywhere. I was think of doing matte black for the contrast. It looks like a couple of your buttons are matte black and the rest glossy black. Am I seeing this correctly? I think it looks great -
Anyone have any links for a garmin other than what is on the garmin site? Has anyone tried downloading a pigtone voice for garmin?
