  1. Is that FX a recast? The dome and back piece and the face plate are all one piece.... ???? That confuses me...
  2. Oh great - another moddification for me tonight!!! I always assumed black strap for drop boxes!
  3. You have any idea who he is or might be?
  4. Mine have lasted over a year of many troops - the scrapes aren't that bad.
  5. Looking anywhere is a lost cause! "I can't see a thing in this helmet!"
  6. Mark Cheng stopped making the boots a few years ago, and doesn't plan on making anymore. The main reason he stopped was the supplier started using lower quality products to make the boots. His partner (used to be known as the Disturbance on eBay) took over using the crappy materials, but used Mark Cheng's name to sell the boots without Mark's promission. From what I understand, neither make boots anymore. I'd say order some of these in black, and paint them: http://www.barnstormers.co.uk/acatalog/SHI...HPUR_BOOTS.html IMO - those are really close to screen accurate.
  7. Mine fit well so I won't be much help there, but I am not sure there isn't anything that can be done about the scraping. Maybe you could adhere some white felt on the shin piece where it scrapes your boots the most...
  8. Yep - no looking down. I just press the chin area of my faceplate so I can look down... I tripped over a kid before...yeah - felt like a jerk - she was trying to give me a hug, and I didn't even know she was there!!!
  9. That's horrible - so do they think that is going to make you stop giving tickets? It would make me wanna give out more!! What could you do legally to this guy?
  10. They look like the knock-off Mark Chengs (Made by TheDisturbance) Awesome boots though and really cannot beat that price!!! Mark's were better quality though...
  11. I made the same mistake! That is why I am a little more verbal about my hatred of FX... I bought FX - saying - it's not that innaccurate...most 501st wear it...and it's cheaper! How could I lose?!? I was wrong - Literally 2 months later I got a different set... Granted, I know and knew then that FX was WAY off, as far as accuracy is concerned... but I was trying to justify my purchase - I just couldn't wait to jump into some armor!
  12. I really hate statements like that about FX... FX is phasing out, or at least the helmet is. IMO it should be up for discussion now thru the Legion command and then decided on before the year's end, but I'm not command staff. The main reason most folks have the FX is price and accessability... Last year there were many vendors who were resellers on eBay and people even had websites selling the stuff, you didn't have to jump trough hoops to find it or buy it. Now it's starting to become less common on that auction site, and easier to purchase more accurate suits and helmets elsewhere on the internet.... It's only a matter of time when FX is in the minority and no longer accepted.
  13. Daetrin has these... http://www.barnstormers.co.uk/acatalog/SHI...HPUR_BOOTS.html Except in black (I would assume). Daetrin how did those work out for you?
  14. What is that picture from? Never seen that before.
  15. Those aren't CABoots, are they? The CABoots have a white "U" Strap...
  16. I always thought they looked like Elvis boots!
  17. You should tell all the newbs to start on the helmet last! Especially if this is their first time working on a TK! The helmet is the one piece you don't want to mess up! You can also use fine files for the frown and eyes! Great write up so far! I'll be watching!
  18. Wow - that dent is massive!!! Yeah, I wouldn't be too happy about that!
  19. I know, I was just saying that the split rivets were an accurate alternative.
  20. Split rivets are accurate - ACE has them - never found them at Home Depot or Lowes...
  21. I have no problems hearing at all (in any directions) - seeing is a different story all together!
  22. Yeah, a guy in our Garrison was given that tip by a model maker - he makes scaled models for the government (or something like). We helped our CO put together a Republic Commando using that ABS Goo...
  23. Not only can you fix mistakes - but you can use the "ABS Goo" as a bonding agent - it works like ABS Cement - melting the two pieces of plastic together.
  24. Well earlier in this thread they talk about a guy that sells grapple hooks and boxes in Germany...well don't buy them - they are rubbish! I got one for Christmas last year....that thing cost $100 - and not worth but about $25... Don't waste your time... I do however have an accuarte hook - and I have a box that goes with it - I will post pictures of the box later: This is not for sale - it was part of a run from a couple of years back....
