I agree...is the MRCE helmet even still available?

This new kit has so much more detail than its predecessor. Curved edges...removable ab button section...sandtrooper options...hand plate options...extra thickness all around...thumb prints on the bicep..I love it. It's made with extra width on all pieces to accomodate the larger trooper, from the ab section to the kidney plate there is plenty of material so no filler is needed. I'm jealous because this kit isn't even mine but our soon to be TK Angie's here in Iowa.

Is there a way to possibly cut the ab section under the belt to allow oneself to go pee? The reason I ask is I'm going to a halloween costume party and there will be drinking and well...I'll have to pee eventually and I really don't want to completely armor down each time. I also don't want to do anything though that will remove my expert status. Any ideas?

I used abs glue and never had any problems with my snap pieces. You just have to make sure you use a fair amount around the piece and it will never come off.

My system has worked very well for me, and it's very easy to set up. Remember, if you attached your armor to your body suit, you'd have to re-do it all when your undersuit finally wore out, which will happen in time. Here is a topic I posted on my set up. You can use the spare abs belt that comes with the kit. You don't want to use that for the belt anyways. Score it, then break it into 1 1/2" squares. Then drill a hole through the middle and snap it up.

Hey guys, sorry I haven't been on in a while. I just noticed this thread I started has shown some interest. I purchased my snaps at JO ANN Fabrics. I also got the elastic strapping there. Just to add, I haven't had one snap pop since I've been trooping, except for the few times my bicep strap came undone. This is minor and can be easily fixed with double snaps or locking snaps. I have done plenty of crazy stuff in it too, including a parade troop at Trek Fest three weeks ago. A friend of mine did his set up the exact same way I did and he has had a few minor problems, but mostly because he is a much bigger guy than I am. Most people find the snaps can pop off from the shoulder bells and the bicep straps. His did this, but mostly his belt gave him problems. If you're not over 190lbs and about 5' 10" or taller you should be fine with this set up. Snaps are definately the way to go however. I have seen way too many troopers having endless problems in mid troop with just velcro . Good luck.

Thought I'd post this in case anyone was curious on how to use the snap system for their FX kits. I've had several troops in my armor now and all seems well. I am very happy with the way it's held up.

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and warm water. It takes a little elbow grease, but they do come off and won't ruin the finish.

The walmart one sounds great...but I get ridiculous feedback whenever i put the helmet on.

I did the same to my MRCE, but I used cut up knee padding from D-Mac and IS velcroed them in.

MRCE w/FX lite. Didn't repaint my lid. I think it matches quite well. -----------

It is horrible, I agree. And the only way to fully hid it is to repaint the entire bucket. Most of the pics you see on here of people showing off their filled seams have filled it, sanded it and repainted the whole lid. I didn't repaint mine, and even though I can still see a little bit of an edge, I've learned to live with it for now, until maybe someday when I decide to sand down and repaint the whole thing. I really do like the super glossy look you get out of the box. I haven't seen a repaint that can match that smooth shiney look.

They have both. Probably one box would get you by. Remember what you'll be doing in your armor. You might want to go the snap route. It's much more stable. Of course you will still be using the IS velcro here and there. Some like to snap through the velcro for areas that see alot of movement.

Ok, so I purchased the hobby iron, set it to high, and tested it on some spare abs from my FX kit. The cloth practically burned off, bunched up under the iron, and when I started to rub it over the edge it seemed to give it a more raw straight angled cut look. I thought this would be a lot simpler than it turned out. Any ideas before I go and ruin my FX suit.

Me too. You can use this one.

Do you have any pics of what it looks like now? Mine turned out pretty well. I ended up using silicone caulk, not shiney like regular silicone, but just as flexible. I put it on and rubbed off the excess after it dried with my thumb. Then painted with testors white. Not perfect, but got the job done.
