  1. Tried two new batteries and no change in the operation of the thing. It has two ways it works. On VOX the static bursts play continually mixed in with the non-stop screech. In PTT mode it screeches as long as the button is being pushed and when the button is released it plays one static burst. Also tested both new batteries which came out to 3.6v. Forgot to test the original before putting it back together but since the new ones were okay and didn't work it strikes me there is no battery fault. When operating properly does the LED blink or stay on continuously? The instructions say it blinks, mine does not but there is no mention of exactly what that may mean in terms of troubleshooting. Updated the status of it with the vendor as well. So, no joy. It worked last fall when I received it and tried it out and two weeks ago for another try, but failed when it needed to work. Bart
  2. Thanks. Good information to know. I have been in contact with the supplier and am going to try a battery replacement first. I was able to find some on amazon that I can get in time but, as you mentioned, only time will tell if the new one is any better than the original. I am using the original mic and the recommended Acker amp. It worked a couple weeks ago when I gave it a try before coming up with the chest mounting I would use then a couple weeks later just the endless oddity with the operation. Bart
  3. So what delete our imgur account before the change? Seems that is the only option. They really laid out a lot of threats. Bart
  4. Well can't say this makes me happy. No way this is getting done before the weekend then. Thanks for the insight. Bart
  5. The unit has seen less than an hour of use so can't imagine it is the battery. I left it sit all night and same problems this morning. The amp by itself works fine, no screech from it until it is connected to the icomm. Bart
  6. As I gear up for my first troop I'm trying to get the electronics working and am stumped on this. I first had the amp producing random static the entire time whether I was talking or even breathing, but not doing much in the way of actually amplifying my voice. Then the static completely stopped and it would amplify my voice but there is a continuous screech from the speaker. No static burst at all. I tried different cables between the icomm and the amp to no avail. The instructions say to use the longer of the two cables which I did I pulled everything out and tried it on the table. Even with the speaker and the icomm a yard apart still the screech and no static. The screech was there whenever the icomm was plugged in. I then tried the switch option. The screech was there when the switch was pushed but not when released. The static burst was back and so was the voice amplification so that was good. So right now not going to work for a troop because of the screech being overwhelming (regardless of volume) and so be it if I can't get it working in the next week, but I do want to get it working for the future so need to understand what the problem is and get it corrected. I also tried a different mic with the same results. Has anyone got any advice on this one? Thanks. Bart
  7. No worries. I'm not going to make any attempts to modify it. Not going down that road again. Bart
  8. I just checked and the dimensions are off as you observed. Unfortunately that change is beyond my ability to make at this time and it will just stay as built by AP. Thanks for the consideration. If I am able to find someone to correct it I will update at that time. Bart
  9. Added the photos. Unfortunately no photographer around so not the best, but you can still see everything. Bart
  10. Belt is built as permanent attachment so can't remove it. I can show the other side of it from the back, the holster side is already in the photo set. I'll get the other ones uploaded when I can and post when done. Thanks. Bart
  11. I was looking at a PDF that the wording didn't match all the photos, but I think I have them all added now. Thanks. Bart
  12. Oh, they weren't on the checklist but I didn't look to see they are in the photo examples so will add them. Thanks. Bart P.S. I couldn't crop in Imgur. I would have preferred to clean them up more. However, thank!

  14. I failed in doing a simple search. So embarrassing, but Bazinga is much more fitting if you know me even though I've had decades of the Simpsons references. Bart
  15. Well that was annoyingly easy. Thanks. Bart
  16. Is it possible to get a user name change to what I am using on the 501st site to keep things consistent? I'd like to switch it to BAZINGA if it can be done. Thanks. Bart
  17. Hey you! I'm looking forward to seeing more of us in the shiny white here in Sask! Welcome! Bart
  18. Hey future Badlands member! I just replied to your post on the Badlands forum. I'm excited to have another so close to me! There is one other TK in Swift Current and one about an hour south. While I can't speak to the building part I can speak to the fantastic help you'll get from everyone on this forum! Many kept me sane the last few months (and I just had to do fitting not building) so be sure to post here and I will look forward to meeting you maybe sooner than later as yours just 2 short hours away! Bart
  19. Just love it! Thanks. I'll get it into my profile. Bart
  20. I wasn't very imaginative. It was the date I submitted my final approval photos to my GML. Never been good at picking things like this, but it did seem to roll off the tongue nicely. Bart
  21. If you don't mind, I'd like to send you some photos to work with. I can remove backgrounds, but not make anything as creative as you're doing. Bart
  22. Maybe if I could reach that area on a good day with no arms on! I can barely snap on both arms by myself right now! Reach my back? Nope! You flexible young guys... Bart
  23. So can you be persuaded to share the files for the box should I want to try that? I assume you just are hanging off your belt? I'd have to, I assume, ok this with my garrison if they allow it for trooping. I'm still learning all the rules. Bart
  24. Hi and congrats to you as well! Kind of feels special that mine happened around that same time as yours! 2) Yes to the taunt. It's an OCD thing. Always worried how it compares to everyone else. I looked at so many photos of people's backsides, thighs and crotch spacing in underwear it's embarrassing! It will make for good stories later on though. 3) I was pretty sure on that. Already had been preparing to tackle that now that basic is not good enough. Overall that now seems like one of the easier things to address. 4) I have a harness now instead of a belt for the thighs. So, if that works well I should have more adjustment room to lower. I think a half inch down would still leave enough room at the knees and give me the butt space too. I'd like to not cut anything if possible. Too stressful to this day making any cuts. The one thing that I was super happy with was the helmet height. I got rid off all padding in the top and put in a hard hat suspension system. Dropped it right into the zone and locks it nice to my inflated head so no bobble head feeling anymore! Bart
