  1. Ah, OK, first time I've heard/seen this. This helps a lot! Sent from my SM-A715F using Tapatalk
  2. Thank you. Even after looking at ref pic after ref pic it's so hard deciding where to make that cuts, so really appreciate what you've said Sent from my SM-A715F using Tapatalk
  3. Had a bit more time tonight than expected. Stripped off the rear coverstrips and taped up for a better fit. My worries here are how to blend the left and right halves so there isn't a sudden step in height, and for them to fit my leg the molding at the bottom is now crooked. I'd consider replacing with standard thighs, but I have long legs, and there's already a larger gap than normal between thigh and shin. Struggling to see how other tall guys get a good fit! (yet they obviously do) Sent from my SM-A715F using Tapatalk Sent from my SM-A715F using Tapatalk
  4. Not sure if I'm overthinking the rear thigh assembly... Two halves of the thigh should meet at the halfway point at the bottom (correct?) Should the cover strip go vertically straight up, or should it go up to the angle on the top of the rear thigh? (Should those two things be the same place?) I'm using RWA XL thighs because I'm tall, but don't have big thighs, so they are closing up more than I think they're designed to. It means they have a lot of overlap and I'm concerned that the shape at the top rear of the thigh isn't correct. You can see this in some of my last pics, but it's even more exaggerated now that they're closed up even more to make them smaller (no pics yet, will take some tonight when I get home). 5. Thanks! [emoji106] Sent from my SM-A715F using Tapatalk
  6. Something I'll have the chance to sort in resizing the thighs is trying to line up the rear coverstrips with the notch in the butt plate. Pic below is taken from the centurian reference Sent from my SM-A715F using Tapatalk
  7. Ok, so.... I'm pretty happy with the torso now. Repositioned the belt so that it just overlaps the ab buttons. Didn't go to the effort this time of closing up the shins (wish I had now). Very unhappy with the thighs. Massive gap at the back on both, so will have to remove rear coverstrip and resize them. Also, feels like a huge gap between thighs and shins (front and back). Obvs the sniper knee is missing (waiting on a new molding), but even so, the gaps feel massive. Yes, the mobility cuts make the back look worse, but they had to be done. Also, getting pinching between the cod and right thigh [emoji15], but will address that after I've resized the thighs. May need to redo the thigh to belt elastic after too. Oh yeah, I have realised that the belt overlaps the wrong way, but I need to shorten it anyway, so I'll sort that then. Anything else jump out?? Sent from my SM-A715F using Tapatalk
  8. That genius! Definitely going to do that. Thank you Sent from my SM-A715F using Tapatalk
  9. Looks like I'm going to need to move the belt then! Well, if you're going to do something better do it right! Sent from my SM-A715F using Tapatalk
  10. Thanks! Gonna be a pain to completely move the belt (but will if I have to). A bit of padding should hopefully be enough Sent from my SM-A715F using Tapatalk
  11. Need to adjust the straps between kidney and butt, the canvas belt needs shortening, and I'm going to stick a small piece of foam under the front of the belt (out of sight) to angle it up a little so it butts up against the bottom of the ab buttons, and I need to cut the notch either side of the ab plate, but otherwise I 'think' the torso is complete. I've already replaced one of the chest to ab straps, as the chest in this pic is off to one side a bit. Anyone spot anything else that needs sorting(?) Sent from my SM-A715F using Tapatalk
  12. Any chance of link for them Sent from my SM-A715F using Tapatalk
  13. Improvised tools: For setting thigh ammo rivets Mole grips Cover strip off cut (to stop scratches) Nut (to reach over the lip at the bottom of the thigh) These are 10" mole grips and the jaws were only just deep enough. Sent from my SM-A715F using Tapatalk
  14. Do you mean just to bend the clips a bit to rotate the td down a bit? Sent from my SM-A715F using Tapatalk
  15. TD done Sent from my SM-A715F using Tapatalk
  16. Meanwhile... New (standard size) back and butt pieces arrived today. Already trimmed and poppers being glued. Sent from my SM-A715F using Tapatalk
  17. Thanks for this. I think I made things harder for myself by removing too much from the sides, meaning I had less material to clamp on to, and had to try and bend the abs more to make contact (hence the more aggressive clamps). 'You only learn when things go wrong' definitely applies here [emoji1] Sent from my SM-A715F using Tapatalk
  18. The thinner material has gotta help, right!? [emoji106] Sent from my SM-A715F using Tapatalk
  19. Fears confirmed. The clamps were too tight and left a mark in the sniper knee, and to make it worse the glue didn't even hold properly. I've removed it and stripped off the glue, and ordered a replacement one in thinner plastic (rather than the 2mm in the pics) in the hope that it'll flex into shape better. 20. Outstanding work there. Also great work on the WIP thread. Been a lot of fun following your build Sent from my SM-A715F using Tapatalk
  21. Yep. Pretty much [emoji106] Sent from my SM-A715F using Tapatalk
  22. Armour is from RWA in the UK, and its 2mm abs. The glue is the newer e6000 plus, and on other parts of the armour I've left for 72 hours (leaving all parts that long) it still just didn't hold. Wish I could still get the original e6000 (you know, the toxic stuff) more easily in the UK. The gorilla seems to be holding really well though Sent from my SM-A715F using Tapatalk
  23. The dreaded sniper knee [emoji33] Was (like everyone) struggling with how to do this. Method I'm halfway through is to glue the centre of the knee first. Did that on Fri and left for 72 hours. Now that is stuck solid I'm gluing 'the wings' and holding them firm with welders c clamps, using cut offs of cover strip for protection. So far, so good. The glue in the centre is holding under the strain, and the clamps are strong enough to hold the sides down. May get a hair dryer to soften where it's bending to lessen the strain a little (now, and for after the glue has set). Using gorilla glue clear contact adhesive for everything now, as the e6000 plus is frankly very poor and I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole (just my opinion).
  24. Re-sewn for accuracy. Also shown, spring hook tool, to make the shins easier to fit Sent from my SM-A715F using Tapatalk
