  1. Thank you Sly, you’re the best! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Perfect! I will get started then. Thank you for the quick reply Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Good day troopers and aspiring troopers. When we say “build” what does this mean exactly? I have purchased a set from RSP, but I know it doesn’t show up 100% L3 ready. Not wanting to offend anyone manually building pieces, thus I’m asking.. can I begin posting pictures of what I’m acquiring to fully assemble before I go for pre approval? 4. Newbie question: What does ATA stand for? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I do like this. I’ve often thought that while I appreciate the quick responses, sometimes I want to see a picture or angle of a photo already on the site. So I’ve turned to YouTube. But be warned YouTube has a lot of crap in it too. I have spent weeks and countless hours now doing research in the forums. There’s A LOT of info here. Perhaps too much to a fault. That being said. My suggestion would be to find a buddy willing to to help (and you’ll find a lot). Someone close to your own garrison preferably. Else pick on a couple of the expert posters. Check out their ancient threads and see their builds. What did the learn? Etc. I’m starting out too yet, I would advise against a closed group of newbies relearning things which can be easily taught or passed down. Few guys I like a lot so far, (in no order, and this is MY personal opinion cause they suit me well), Sly, UKsWrath, Firedog, Cableguy, Justjoseph63, TKSpartan... super super helpful. I think the idea of the zoom and or small newbie group to share as we go along is fantastic!! My add to the suggestion would be to have these kinds of pro leaders to ensure we don’t get too far down the wrong path. I would hate to see anyone devote time and money to prepare for GML photos to only get frustrated or discouraged in the end. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Welcome fellow new recruit. I am perhaps just a few months ahead of you. I did a lot of research and I’ll admit nearly made a purchase mistake. I settled on ESB as I prefer the holster hand guards and helmet differences better. Also, I chose ABS as it’s more screen realistic on weight, shape and color. Plus I’m in plastics and I know it’s more durable [emoji16] I chose to go with RS Propmasters. It’s not the cheapest route for acquiring armor. I advise choosing whatever method suits your tastes and budget... yet I purchased the fully finished commission ESB armor and soft parts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I believe I made a mistake when signing up. I’m happy to walk everyone through the details of how... but the quick point is. It’s embarrassing to have created a “TK” as my profile and to learn it’s already in use at the 501st. I've used an online screen name for over 10 years now, I should have just made it that one. Stupid me... and here I thought I was being clever. I used to manage some Minecraft official forums so I’d like to ask, what Admin can I PM to change the profile name please?
  8. I'm sure its well deserved recognition. You were one of the members who welcomed me from day one. Now if I can just get my garrison to be that responsive lol.
  9. This is the best picture and comment for me personally. I dont even have my helmet yet, but I ordered the icomm from UKSWrath and I love it!. I noticed the same thing that for the volume output, I found that the mic needs to be nearly at my lips. I would like a more sensitive microphone, but with the fans, might make for a different problem. I was going to comment to UKSWrath my appreciation of his work, and albeit I compensated him with payment lol.... Still I am very happy with the iComm. Excellent product. Highly recommend. I do have a question however... what is the secondary unit in the package that has the usb attached to it, and a red connector on the other end?? I haven't sorted out what this is for... or where to plug it in ... lol
  10. you and me both brother. BTW, what does BBB stand for? ( I feel a newbie moment coming )
  11. So far its been a pleasure communicating with them. I was able to get a status update today in fact. Helmet is finished. Chest is finished. Back is finished. Remaining pieces are being formed now, and are expected to go to assembly next week. If all goes accordingly, I should have the armor in my possession by my birthday. What a gift!!
  12. Here’s a quick update. My FIRST pieces of hardware arrived. I’m not the proud owner of UKSWRATH’s iComm set and bucket fans.
  13. Welcome! I’m a SA, New Braunfels, Waco, Dallas, ELP guy. Been to Lubbock many times... won’t say why. (wink) 176?!? dang man. I’m undersize then. I’m learning new stuff all the time on these boards!!
  14. Greetings. My armor is ordered and expected around Nov 1. I have made contact with my GAL, and once the armor arrives, you bet your sweet banthar fodder I will be taking my photos and turning them in with lightspeed progress. I would imagine if we are down to 2, if I am honored with the official TK of 1001, I would be heartbroken to miss the title, but happy to be the "1" that missed it. lol
  15. Thanks Shawn. Again I appreciate the quick responses. I really like what UKsWrath has to offer. Did you purchase the standard TK stormtrooper audio kit? this one? ----------- i want the voice changer, the clicks of course, a good mic, and I prefer to have the speakers built into the mask mod like the “cannons” he references. I like that more vs how the aker 10 might need to be mounted elsewhere. having it all in the helmet and no extra wires is gonna be key. did you get the helmet fans as individuals or the new one piece? and did you plug it all into one power source?
  16. Lol!!! I hadn’t even considered that. to be clear, my older three boys are between 25 and 22. So. Regular troopers is hope. I know one is already highly interested. And my 9yr old simply wants to be a Jawa. “I’ll be good at taking things!”
  17. Thank you so much for the quick reply and info. I’ll get to further investigating! Cheers!
  18. Hello all, I found the UKsWrath website and the TMTalkie. can someone link the fans for “Sly’s fans” please? also.... question. Has anyone tried both the UKsWrath and the TKTalkie? Which is better? I like the small speaker mod of the UKsWrath but I like the versatility of the THTalkie. very I retested first some input. Finding good reviews is proving challenging to be able to compare the two.
  19. I have a strong suspicion you’re accurately predicting my future as well. Side note, I scoped you’re profile. Our birthday is close. Father, kids. Yep. I believe you’re on or with me.
  20. Thank you! I feel much better about the swap as well. Andrea from RS has already reached out to me with several emails, and the fitting guides. My current ETA is 8 weeks. Paid in full so, hopefully that rushes things along some. I'm not gonna hide, I squealed, even giddy-like, as a young child on christmas morning just getting the measurements out. I can't imagine the heart attack ill have when it arrives. Maybe I'll video my experience... Thank you! Definitely feel better with FISD support. I was able to make contact with Drew and Jeremy for the Carolina Garrison. I reside in North Carolina, Winston-Salem.
  21. It was a lot of fun building the room with my kids. As an engineer, nerd and lover of games. I have instilled in my kids.. 3 prime directives. 1. Always tell the truth. 2. The definition of Integrity, always do the right thing, even when no ones watching. 3. Responsibilities first, then play.. and Play like you mean it! I have posters, a few mannequin's that need armor (wink wink), the accent lighting for the surround sound.. cause yanno.. Tie Fighters and gravity bombs! And I must admit there is a series of old gaming consoles, including a personal rebuilt custom NES. and ya, that was me when I was not in shape at the end lol. Much has changed since that video. A father and son trooper set. I like the sound of that! Hope to see you around as well!
  22. Thank you both! I will definitely keep everyone updated. Best Regards, CB
  23. Hey Ian! how crazy is this!?! I too just posted today, from WS, and commissioned the exact same armor set from RS. Looking forward to meeting you sometime in the future! Im happy to share any of my experiences with you, and hope you'd be willing to do the same. Regards, -CB
  24. Hello everyone. Wow! What a mind shock at reading everything from the 501st, Whitearmor, Garrison Pages, Armor builders.. nuts. I am 44, father of 4 boys, (Future troopers, well maybe one Sith to be honest), and much as many of us, a huge Star Wars fan. Since I saw that you can actually BUY an authentic replica set of armor from SDS, I have been working diligently to get on board. Over the past many months, I have learned that SDS may not work out for me. The thought of signed armor was the highlight, and I may still utilize some help from contacts in Mexico to acquire a set, however in the mean time, I have settled on a full ABS set from RS Props. I do have a few questions, but first I will indicate where I am in the fulfillment of this dream to be a fellow StormTrooper. I have read all the info from the starting posts on the 501st: I have then found several sets of armor, and as mentioned, settled on RS. I have read through.. thoroughly, (many times lol), the path to take which ultimately led to this post, from the new member application guidelines and faq's here: https://databank.501st.com/databank/Join_Us And now I am introducing myself, in hopes to better help me locate the proper Garrison and liaison. Hi! So, now I am down to my questions.. I reside in Winston Salem, NC. USA. Identifying the contact list for the contact looks to be the Carolina Garrison.. http://www.carolinagarrison.net/ Yet, I am unsure exactly whom to contact. There are 21 different contacts there, and unfortunately they've abbreviated their titles/ranks, hence, I am asking for assistance in my intro. Next I will assume, once, I receive my armor, I will be able to submit the photos, links, and hopefully... move into the ranks officially with the rest of the FISD. (Btw, it was at this point I realized my screen name here included a TK number which... was done on accident, and I am happy to change it if necessary.) Nonetheless, So about me: Craig, 44, Father, I work in the medical industry. I travel frequently. Love Star Wars. LOVE. I have a gift from my girlfriend which is an ID bracelet but with Vaders helmet etched into it. I have created a gaming and video room specifically for the boys n I to enjoy movies (star wars themed of course). I am a degree holding engineer. Love to build things, metal, wood, electronic. So.. I am thrilled to begin and get going with realizing this childhood dream. Thanks for taking a min to read. Future Trooper, CB
