  1. Aw, that's not what I was hoping to hear! Still hoping we see a completed suit and CRL for this soon! What aspects of the McFlyPrint3D files remained that were problematic?
  2. @Tanz Hoping for some updates still - how did this turn out...?!
  3. I agree - looking really positive and you definitely have an eye for it. Keep it up, we need more good New Gen armor options!
  4. Personally, I plan to just hit it with either the Spraymax automotive 2k gloss white, or just the Behr Premium No 52 Gloss White, and then not polish or clear it unless I get orange peel. Or if I do clear, 1k and/or semi-gloss or satin if I can find a product I like. 2k cans are expensive and can't be used for small touchups easily (once you crack one, you gotta use it). The suit is GOING to rub all over the place, especially at first, so you want it easy to repair, so I've just been leaning towards the cheaper Behr paint. It's gonna yellow over time either way, but I've been wiping my suits down with Aerospace303 and we'll see if that helps. I've got all of the MPSB parts printed (below, plus the shins and ab, and an S&T + all the parts for a proper E-11 build) and plan to use those to submit for Centurion, but may end up building the rest of the suit out of printed ABS (I have a K2+) from the Akira Yuming files in time. I have exactly one arm piece post-processed, three other suits I want to finish building first, and a second baby due in April lol So I've just been low-key advising some of the other guys that are printing and finishing these at a high level until I get around to redoing mine. I'm happy to help and learn from you guys too.
  5. I've been loosely following along and boy howdy do I have a lot to say, but let's start with the important things: - Your head is in the right place and the research is coming together and looking great! I've been planning a revamp of my suit with printed parts for a while now and just haven't gotten through the sanding and prep. - I would absolutely not recommend 2K clear coating the suit. It makes it too glossy for accuracy, and you'll just need to sand through clear and white when you get cracks. Clearing my ROTK is one of my biggest regrets on the build. Good luck!
  6. I use these Duty Belts from Amazon and make my own drops with 1.5" nylon web, triglide buckles, and line 24 snaps with corresponding anchors E6000'ed into the thighs. It works well for me - easy to put on, comfortable, and the velcro on the belt helps keep the drops from drifting side to side. Hope that helps!
  7. Agreed. I don't believe all suits had the ribs for Rogue One/early Mando, but all of the newer ones do have ribs at the hip to my knowledge. I have an early two-piece suit from Jim, and it does not have ribs (but probably could by request), and the one-piece Keep Trooping suit does have ribs.
  8. The only two makers of proper Rogue One/New Era style undersuits that I'm aware of are Keep Trooping (left) and Jim Tripon (right). I happen to own both of their undersuits and to have worn a production undersuit. Jim's is great and well made, but the Keep Trooping is as close as we'll likely get to the studio ones and is fantastic. Both feature the hexagonal mesh detail in the armpit and both should qualify for L3.
  9. https://keeptrooping.com/product/new-era-undersuit/ Hands down the best one currently available.
  10. I'm here too haha Welcome!
  11. I have quite a bit of experience with Denuo Novo armor and the Anovos armor before it, and it happens to be my favorite of the suits available out there. It all comes down to what you want and value in a suit though, and every maker has its positive and negative points. The new DN armor is thicker than the Anovos stuff was (especially the V2/3 runs with the copyright decals on them), so that's positive. It is definitely a "cleaned up" version of the ANH armor, so the details in the pulls are sharper and a little more consistent, but they did retain all of the correct dimensions and asymmetry that are the hallmarks of the character. I usually say that a properly built Anovos/DN suit more closely aligns with what people THINK/expect a Stormtrooper to look like, while something like an RS suit is much closer to how wonky they ACTUALLY were on set. I usually recommend RS to collectors for display, and DN to those who want to troop in their suits, as DN has made a few other minor concessions in accuracy to allow for a more durable and comfortable suit (things like a hard plastic lens, better helmet padding, velcro closure over bra hooks for the shins, etc). Note though that replacement parts are not readily available, and that shimming or expanding the suit for larger wearers is a challenge with matching the color of the plastic, so it's great... if it fits you. There is also a fantastic reference guide from Ukswrath available to assist with your build, and the suit has clear cut lines molded in that are about 90% accurate and make trimming a breeze. They also cut the coverstrips in advance for you, which is nice. If it does anything for you, Anovos armor is what most of us that do regularly character performance work for LFL wear, and what more than half of us wore in The Mandalorian and Obi-Wan Kenobi shows. So yes, it's good armor and can easily be built to Centurion standards. If it's what you want. But that's up to you. Individuals can share their preference all day, it's just the actual detachment itself that is discouraged from promoting a particular brand. Oh, and a final note - ANH helmets are out of stock at the moment due to difficulty in sourcing the plastic for them, and may not return until some time next year, per my last conversation with Mark at DN, so that's a consideration as well.
  12. Hey cool, thanks! I've requested access to the Drive to check it out since it is set to private, and hopefully an admin can move this to a more proper home in the 3D File Repository.
