  1. So, I guess I still have more to post. After not wearing the armour for a bit, I put everything on this weekend in preparation for a big troop this weekend. I knew I’ve been losing a little weight, but I am now swimming in my armour. Not awesome. So, added a bunch of temporary padding. I also added extra straps to my biceps/shoulder bells to keep the biceps from popping out. Thighs were the worst. Also picked up some liners for my gloves. They can be tough to get off when all sweaty. Then I packed everything up forgetting I wanted to cut some ABS from off the back of my thighs. Rats. I’ll do that tomorrow when I weather my new E-11 from Quest Designs. I also need to add a spring to the action. My 3D print and the Quest Design E-11. Packing - arms go in shins which go into the thighs which go into the torso. Temp lining in my tote. Wife hasn’t got around to doing some sewing for me. I think she is protesting the whole thing. 2. Ah, thanks Dan! Truth be told, I'm taking my time with the helmet as a way to avoid all the tedious trimming that is waiting for me.
  3. Found some time to work on my helmet again today... happy stormtrooper day (TK 4-21). I had no idea that was a thing until today. Anyway. I think I finished my paint blemishes and I fine tuned the shape of the brow some more. I still have to finish shaping the ears and cut some length off the brow. I found this on someone’s SWAT application - used it as a partial check list Here are mine. The lighting isn’t great and you can’t really even see the large run on the top, but weathering should bring out some detail. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. If not, I have an untrimmed AP kit sitting in my office that I need to trim in the next few weeks. I'll be happy to trim, document, and post pics as required.
  5. Congrats on your BBB day!! Always exciting. Good luck on your build.
  6. All the old guys have snapped up all the parts and now they are only available on ebay for $$$
  7. Yes. You need a pauldron, shoulder pouch, and at least one pouch on the belt. You don't need the backpack until level 2.
  8. So I just bit the bullet and went ahead with the defacing of a perfectly good TK bucket. I mixed up some ABS paint. Which is essentially coloured acetone, and proceeded to slop it onto my helmet. This will take a few attempts and some sanding and polishing, I’m sure. It is just a few drops here and there, but still nerve wracking. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Good to see you back at it! Is that elastic along the left ab to kidney connection?
  10. To further what Ben said, if you are not set on any particular movie version, A New Hope "Stunt" build is probably the way to go. Your helmet is fashioned after the "stunt" TK - so, that is pretty much done for you. The ANH Stunt is probably the most common build and does have great reference material to help you out. If you haven't done so already, check out the other builds here: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/80-anh-build-threads/ There is an awesome Anovos stunt build by ukswrath here: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/35086-uswraths-anovos-tk-build-stunt/ Good luck with the build!
  11. There a number of people with mismatched kits that have been approved. The short answer is "no", it does not have to match 100%. But, it is really up to the GML reviewing the pics. From the sounds of it, the difference is pretty minimal, and would likely pass no problem.
  12. Hey Luc, I totally missed this! Congrats!!
  13. Hi Alex, now that the ball is rolling you might want to start a new thread here: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/80-anh-build-threads/ It will make it easier for people to find your build. Cheers.
  14. That's great looking armor. Nice work.! The only thing I noticed was your shoulder bridges are sitting a little high. There should be about 4 or 5 bumps on the chest piece but I think that is more of a screen accuracy thing.
  15. I used #6-32 brass slotted pan head machine screws. I used the 3/8” long one but 1/2” would work fine too.
  16. Hey Nick. The screws are technically not a requirement for Centurion, just a recommendation for screen accuracy. That said, those are the wrong screws (I had the same issue in my Centurion application ). You need the pan head screws - so yeah, flat. EDIT: oops, they are required now.
  17. Looks great! You might want to add a picture of the hand guards being folded over to demonstrate that they are flexible. Good luck!
  18. Picking away at things. I’m upgrading my TK right now for a big troop in a couple weeks, so not much time left for the TD. I got the ears rough trimmed and on for my first of many rounds of seeing where I need to trim. This guy has spaces, so I don’t need to close the gap. Here are the ears. The tape are reference markers for paint blemishes on the original. The original has a very roughly painted surface. I won’t be replicating every bump of course - just the ones that are seen onscreen or have been pointed out in previous SWAT applications. Of course, SWAT applications are notorious for becoming more strict every application. I did consider painting the helmet HDPE-like green and then painting over with white - but I didn’t want to do that for the whole suit. Plus, I want the whole thing to still look good in person to the general public. I want it to look like how they think they remember the armour looking, if that makes sense. I’m trying to test how I’m going to add the paint drips. Just using white paint doesn’t work well - it is a warmer white and just interacts with light differently than ABS. So I’m planning on using ABS paste. Really runny ABS paste as it turns out. Paint is on the right. My first attempts at ABS paste on the bottom. Final test on the left. Should work. You can’t tell from the pick, but I was able to fine tune the locations of the blemishes by overlaying pics in photoshop. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. That is nice looking armour. Makes me want to do a R1 TK now. Congrats on the BBB day. Good luck in the build.
  20. I don't want to hijack this thread, but here are some links that discuss the issue in more detail: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/43921-e6000-snaps-uh-oh-deformation-discussion-thread/ Starting at this post there are a number of posts about it on this thread (QuartZ's build) https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/43403-quartzs-anovos-anh-stunt-build/?do=findComment&comment=591789 I summarized my thoughts in this post - it is a big post so you have to scroll down a bit (sorry). https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/43437-wooks-first-build-anh-stunt-tk-ap/?do=findComment&comment=600163 There are other older posts about this as well. Seems like there is no definitive understanding why this happens to some and not to others. The really bad cases seem rare - so that is kind of good news.
  21. So... E6000. I was one of the people who had an issue with E6000. I bought two tubes - both labeled the same and from the same store (authentic E6000 from a large franchise hardware store). So far I've had the issue from only one of the tubes. So, perhaps I just got unlucky with one. That said, I've changed my approach to gluing with E6000. I no longer use strong clamps (unless it is required to maintain the shape of the ABS in special cases). And I never apply a clamp to the snap itself (I had before). Really, if you press the nylon base tight against your armor with lots of E6000 and hold for a bit, you should be able to just let go and let the E6000 dry. In other words - I'd be nervous using the duct tape (as Gil pointed out) and I would be more inclined to use ample E6000 but little force during the drying (small magnets or even tape at most). And for the record - I would be a little nervous with cheap Amazon snaps (more for their durability) - but I'm a nervous guy in general. Keep it up! The build looks great!
  22. lol. Literally blood, sweat, and tears.
