I dont think you need to worry too much about that as long as the snaps are hidden by the abs belt. you will have three other rivets to hold the abs belt to the canvas belt
I measured mine from the end of the Velcro just like you did.
From my middle I took the measurements of my snaps, divided by 2 and measured out from the center for the snaps. I ended up moving one side of the snaps about and 1/8 in out more to allow the snap to not be under tension and hold better rather than popping off after I did a trial fit.
Definitely more apprehensive on using it again. I think its more since I am using the elastic hooks I just need to come to terms of what my expectation is for closing them in the back will be. I'm in the process of reassembling the new ones now and should have some pics posted up in the coming days
I glued my strapping where I thought the distance would be than tried on. I didn't like it so I tore it off and re-glued giving it a better fit to my frame. Welcome to the trial and error phase of the build!
Well depends on how you want to strap it all together and your size. It appears to be a complete strap kit but it still needs to fit your build/frame.
The strapping kit has brackets for the back and chest which is easy and great to use if you have a return edge on those pieces.
wrong way captain!, you wont have a snap on the cod piece. Punch a hole through your webbing or elastic and run the rivet through the ABS, webbing/elastic than the washer before bending the prongs down.
Soon so very soon! I've been thinking exactly how to close the gap on the back of those shins. I think instead of heating the shin and bending that I'll water bath the coverstrip and bend that slightly
That jawa was digging for more parts. The only thing he found was thermal detenator end caps. Then the jawa took the parts for me down to my workshop...who knew they cleaned up too.
1) Elastic if you want it to have some give, webbing to keep things in place
2) I would think this depends on how thick the plastic is where your E6000ing the snap directly on the ABS. You can always glue the snap to a piece of scrap and glue that directly to the armor part.
3) yes you can
I glued my webbing with snaps directly to the plastic. If you want to give it some extra grip rough up the Abs with some sandpaper and glue the webbing directly to that.
While I'm waiting on replacement shins, my mind has been wandering to electronics. I need/want a battery back that has 5v and 9 or 12v outputs. Anyone have any suggestions? I'd prefer it to be small to fit in my bucket.
