  1. I appreciate the plug, but Imperial Gaskets are made out of latex. They come with their own glue. Mark's inner tube suggestion is sound. Silicon gaskets wont last very long, no matter how you put them together. I'm always running specials, so hit me up. I also have factory seconds from time to time that go cheap.
  2. Injection molds aren't cheap either. Especially when prototyping. You don't go injection until the prototype is sound. The only reason that they would go injection is to mass produce armor. Standards can't be maintained with vac-forming. I would have to see a RO in person to tell how i was built, but I assume they made them the same way as the FOTK, from the detail that I've seen in the screenshots.
  3. They are no longer vac-forming props. Now they 3D print. That's why they look different.
  4. Producer/brand. You will find many posts here in reference to FX. It was quick and easy to buy, but not accurate.
  5. My 3D guy gave me a song and dance today about not having DAVID. But if it's freeware...
  6. Is it freeware?
  7. I need to borrow it. Thanks.
  8. Whatever you plan on scanning, plan on having to cut it apart for scanning. You also have to prime each part; It can't be glossy or the laser just jumps around looking for a matte surface. I think your question is; 'Is it recasting'. I think not, as long as a person doesn't use a base that is already a fan sculpt, such as TM is purported to be. I think as long we don't use full sized costumes we are in the clear.
  9. I'm trying to do something similar with a Hot Toy trooper. Still not the same as printing actual 3D files. Still tons of work involved cleaning up the 3D image. We're just not there yet. We're still trying but I may scrap the project.
  10. It was Sand People alright, gaffi sticks, bantha tracks...
  11. http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2016/12/05/fort-worth-police-departments-star-wars-recruitment-video-goes-viral.html
  12. I started learning CD, but now all I have going is my pad, which won't run CD fast enough. I just run gimp these days because I'm such a cheapskate. Wish I could help ya.
  13. How much would it cost us to host photos on site?
  14. Copy that. Can't hurt to have a spare. Who wouldn't want their photos scattered throughout a half dozen different image hosts, right?
  15. I posted this back in 06. Since then, several others have posted about it, someone even turned it in to a business. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/293-howto-garter-for-thighs/?hl=%2Bthigh+%2Bgarter#entry3366 At first I fastened my thigh pieces to my ab, but they moved up and down too much and turned one way or the other. I found a good remedy for this. ---------- They just velcro to the inside of the thigh pieces, and they stay exactly where they should.
  16. Thank you for that!
  17. I can log in and see my photos, but when I try to upload I get redirected to the login page. When I log in again, it tries to load the upload page but then goes back to login. Seems that a lot of people are having trouble with photobucket. I read how people have paid for a premium account to get around this problem, just to have the same problem after paying. Members have started reporting PB to the various scam sites. Might be a good time to start saving the pictures I want to keep off photobucket.
  18. No thank you, to facebook. But thanks anyway:)
  19. I haven't been able to upload to photobucket all month. I started a Flikr account, but I haven't figured out how to post pictures, but only the links to the pictures. If anyone has a remedy for this, please share it. It's too bad that the detachment must rely on a third party website to post pictures.
  20. The best thanks giving in a long time!
  21. I have a set-up, but my new oven isn't installed yet. It's easy to do at home with a decent shop vac. Same way TE did it out of his garage. You can always ping me or ring me.
  22. ...And it looks better that the FX had ever hoped to look
  23. I almost picked one up at Walmart the other day. It was assembled and damaged, and they would not discount it, so I said keep it. I did get a good look at it. Not much different than the MR. With work, this helmet should be fine to troop in and would accompany approved stormtrooper kits. It will need some filling, sanding and repainting. The price is kind of high for the work involved, but it does have built-in sound.
