  1. It's been a while since I stopped in here so I thought it was about time for a wee update. More parts have been ordered (but sadly not arrived yet) for the future build. T-tracks from Roy @ WannaWanga Replica hengstler counter from Bluesnaggletooth's 9th run here on FISD. Also ordered a genuine counter from him as well since I've decided that as well as this pipe build I am planning to try get a de-activated sterling and do a conversion on that. My genuine scope will be fitted to that so waiting on availability of scope kits from Brian (Bulldog44). Also ordered more nice things from Robert at stormtrooperblaster.com. Waiting on delivery of magazine house assembly, foresight assembly, flash guards and bayonet lug. Was really impressed with the quality of Robert's plastic parts I got before so decided to stick with him for these parts. I will post pictures of the parts when I receive them. Cheers Brian
  2. I have just ordered more bits from Robert (magazine well assembly, bayonet lug, flash guards and front sight asembly). They were not all listed in his etsy shop but I contacted him directly and got what I was after at a great price as he can combine postage etc. this way.
  3. Hello There After what seems to be an eternity I've got more on my armour to show. Forearms and thighs have been sized and rear cover strips glued on. Rear cover strips first half by brian.mcdavid, on Flickr Rear cover strips closure by brian.mcdavid, on Flickr Shins have been sized and outer rear cover strip has been glued on. Shin rear outer cover strip by brian.mcdavid, on Flickr I will need to remove more of the upper return on the biceps before sizing them correctly as they were very uncomfortable. Likewise I will need to deal with the peak on the rear of the thighs where the cover strip is mounted as it really digs in when trying to move. Got the bracket system fitted to the torso to get an idea of size and fit. Probably don't need to alter the size any so I'll dismantle it for a finish sand and start on the strapping this weekend. (I hope) Cheers for looking Brian
  4. Will you be opening an interest list for your latest batch of M38 scopes? If so I'll jump straight in for one possibly two These are just what I need in my life right now. Fantastic workmanship on these. Cheers Brian
  5. Yeah I was correct. It is 16swg pipe with 38.1 mm OD Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. 38.1mm is the metric equivalent of 1.5" I got from a UK supplier. It has 16 gauge wall thickness I think but I will check later when I can access my PC. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Hi All After what seems like an eternity I've actually got some progress to post on this painfully slow build. Seems like I have had so many other things to do keeping me too busy for my armour. Can't complain about it all as I'm turning my garage into more of an extra room/workshop sort of area which gives me a better place to work on this instead of the kitchen table. Trimmed the returns on arms and legs to around 5mm for a starting point when I eventually get round to fitting the parts to me. No photos as it's kinda boring to look at. What isn't boring is my Bucket is now back together and painted Looked at what other people have done with their electronics and interiors and made a start on mine. Making sure that the bucket is secured without using the ear screws so that they can be removed to alter/adjust electronics meant adding more screws and bonding in the nuts for the ear cap screws. Also had to buy even more brow trim as my initial replacement trim was not the correct size so eventually found a supplier for US52 trim. Looks better already. Marked out the areas to be painted and applied the grey paint freehand. More will follow but the Hovi's are seen so had to go on now. I think the painting went well for someone who has not held a paintbrush like this since his Dungeons & Dragons days of his distant youth. Scarily just thought about how long it has actually been New lens on order as the original Anovos one is not the clearest to see through. Will try and post again soon but life always gets in the wasy when I say that Thanks for visiting Brian
  8. Robert is a great guy to deal with. The link Dana posted worked well for me as I was sourcing my own pipe which I'm trying hard not to start working on until after I finish my armour. No point in having blasters and not being able to show them off properly [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Well Hello again. How nice to see you. Got some more parts for the future build. Ordered a few very nice bits from Robert at stormtrooperblaster.com Got the bolt, charging handle and grip asembly. All very nice parts made of black plastic and finely detailed Lovely new toys by brian.mcdavid, on Flickr Bolt details by brian.mcdavid, on Flickr Bolt rear by brian.mcdavid, on Flickr Grip and charging handle by brian.mcdavid, on Flickr Obviously need to clean up and drill a few bits out but plenty of time for that (who am I kidding - never enough time) Still looking around for other bits and pieces, seen lots of sights and magazines but not seen any mag wells kicking about. Anybody got a suggestion on where I might find such a thing? I have neither the skill or the patience to learn about 3D design and printing like so many talented people on here have done. Thanks for stopping by for a look Brian
  10. Hey Dana Again Bravo. Outstanding work again. I wish I was in a position to get my hands on a real sterling but I can't justify the cost of a deactivated one right now. ....... maybe sometime. I've got more parts for my pipe build from Robert at stormtrooperblaster and I'll keep collecting until I have all I need. In the mean time I'm loving your build as it's my step by step guide when I get there. Armour first. Armour first. Armour first. Have I convinced myself I mean have I convinced you of my priorities? 11. Love the way this is coming along. I enjoyed building my doopy with lots of modifications to the standard kit. That is what got me in the mood for a pipe build which will get started one day. Decided I will try and finish my armour before starting on another blaster. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Receiver tube is looking great. I hope mine looks as good when I actually manage to get started on it. Got the pipe and templates printed out correct size so just need to find the time now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I just received the grip assembly, bolt and charging handle from Robert. First inspection they all look and feel fantastic and Robert was great to deal with. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. This looks like turning into another standout blaster build Dana. Keep up the great work. Watching this with great interest [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Hi Dana Followed the link to the templates and downloaded them thanks for that link. Just ordered 2mtrs of 38.1 x 1.6mm Aluminium tube. This way I have enough tube for 4 barrels in case I make a right mess of it. Or maybe just make more blasters Don't wory about hijacking as I'm now following your build, which is awesome by the way. I now have yet another great build to aim towards. I wish I was able to get my hands on genuine sterling parts but no chance of that in the UK and shipping gun parts into the UK is a big No-No. Don't want to go for a de-activated Sterling as building the blaster is the fun part. Thanks for the advice and expect me to drop by your build from time to time for inspiration and ideas. Cheers Brian
  16. Thanks Ian I appreciate that. I have seen a couple of instances where people are having to resize/rescale their templates to make them fit correctly so all the help I can get will be gladly accepted. Just about to place the order for the aluminium pipe right now as it seems templates can be found. Cheers Brian
  17. Hi All I'm thinking of putting together an ANH E-11 Blaster using 38.1mm pipe as this was the original size of a sterling. I've started sourcing different pieces from different people and places. Got a 3D printed working folding stock and electronics from blaster-master through a well known multi-coloured auction site. Got a hasbro and a disney parks electronic blasters for possible electronics robbery. (I like to have options) Again got these via our friendly go-to auction site. Got a spare magazine that I ordered from Gazmosis I've used Shapeways for parts for my Doopy E-11 so I know there are loads of parts available for detailing. Managed to get my grubby little hands on a genuine M38A2 scope. Lovely!!! Got various bits of aluminium flat bar, angle and rod. Fieldmarshall is doing some wonderful things to help us builders along with his amazing parts. Aaron (usaeatt2) does a very nice resin barrels and muzzles. So much more I could list from T-tracks to grip assemblies via capacitors and Hengstlers. The first stumbling block I have come across that would stop this going ahead in 38mm pipe is that I have not been able to find a template for this size of pipe. I have found the ones Aaron posted a couple of years ago but they are for 40mm pipe. Does anyone know where I can find templates to suit this size of pipe? Thanks for stopping by for a read but please don't expect a flurry of building activity soon as I want to make sure I have everything I need in hand before I start building. Besides that I have had my armour for almost a year now and it is still in bits as life keeps rearing its intrusive head and getting in the way of the important things. Cheers Brian
  18. I thought about another Doopy but I'm going to wait till Dday has kits available and build one of them with extras of course. Also liking what Fieldmarshall is doing right now so will wait with baited breath for what he has to offer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. You are a bad man Tino [emoji12] A genius bad man. Showing us mere one blaster owners that we do not have enough blasters. I have just about convinced my wife that I should have my E-11 on a display stand and now I have to build one of these racks and then fill it with new blasters. I think I may be in trouble [emoji51] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I've purchased 3 or 4 tubes from amazon.co.uk and they seem to be the genuine article. I know some people have spoken about sub-standard glue. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  22. Hi All Another update for my glacial build. A bit more done in the past few days. Bicep front cover strip glued on. Aligned the biceps at the bottom edge to allow trimming along the top edge under the shoulder bell. Biceps front cover strip by brian.mcdavid, on Flickr Inner cover strips cut from a sheet of 1.5mm ABS and glued to each shin Left shin inner cover strip by brian.mcdavid, on Flickr Right shin inner cover strip by brian.mcdavid, on Flickr Cut support pads for bracket system (such a time consuming job measuring, drilling, cutting and sanding these little things) Bracket system support pads by brian.mcdavid, on Flickr Glued, screwed and clamped the pads in place front and back Rear bracket support pads glued by brian.mcdavid, on Flickr Front bracket support pads glued by brian.mcdavid, on Flickr Need to wait for more free time to get on it again. Next up will be sizing all the limbs then onto starting on the strapping. Thanks for dropping by and any advice you can give. Cheers Brian
  23. Thanks. Just wish I had more free time to get moving quicker. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Got a little bit more done to my armour over the past few days. Front cover strips onto the shins and the sniper plate fitted after getting the go ahead from my armourer for position of the pieces. Right shin Right shin front cover strip by brian.mcdavid, on Flickr Left shin Left shin front cover strip by brian.mcdavid, on Flickr Sniper plate Sniper plate by brian.mcdavid, on Flickr Next move is to get one cover strip on the biceps then start sizing the limbs to fit. Probably going to cut and glue some inner cover strips to the shins as I understand there will be a lot of stress on this opening and closing to put them on. Hopefully my next update will not take as long. Brian
  25. Thanks for the support Christine.
