  1. Hey Kirk, thanks for reposting here! And yes, I definitely saw TK-14057 (Jehda Patrol Captain) on screen in Rogue One, albeit briefly. Many other troopers with "variant" loadouts are seen throughout the Jehda scenes.
  2. Also of note is that according to this snippet in the new book 'STAR WARS Rogue One: The Complete Visual Guide'-- "On Jehda, troopers wearing variant armor are known as sandtroopers. Filtration systems prevent dust contamination that would clog standard armor breathing ports over time. The cooling units employed on hot desert worlds are not needed on the cold moon." Does that mean those variants will belong to MEPD? Have these written materials been reference for decisions like this in the past?
  3. Here you go: https://colemans.com/shop/containers/norwegian-military-waterproof-airtight-storage-box/ And for those interested in R1 Captains pauldrons -- https://www.etsy.com/listing/150178963/classic-star-wars-stormtrooper-shoulder?ref=hp_rv Just select Rogue 1 from the dropdown.
  4. Unlikely, I believe Merona is a Target brand. I know you can order it from their website though, there's a link in my first post.
  5. Awesome work to everyone involved thus far in developing this pack! You guys rock! I went out and bought my large ALICE pack today and I was lucky enough that it came with the correct woodland camo shoulder straps! I also bought the 1" black poly strapping and foam, dye, duck canvas for the bedroll, etc. Colemans is shipping the M75 frame (they have used versions right now for $19, get on it!) and the ammo box. All that's left to purchase are the slide buckles, fishing rod and the greebly for the left shoulder strap. CAN'T WAIT to get building! Oh and my Rogue One captains pauldron is on its way as well. Now I'm contemplating whether to take on the Black Series helmet and its mods...
  6. Yep, except other than his accessories there are now no differences in the armor. Also of note, and someone may have already caught this, is that the R1 troopers belt is not actually made completely from plastic. It appears to be a plastic front over a fabric belt, similar to the OT style, with a plastic cover over the back half maybe secured with velcro? Also what's up with that scrunched up black fabric?
  7. Upon further inspection of high rez photos, it seems like the best thing would be to keep the shirt mostly intact, maybe just trimming the length if necessary so that it does not appear in the thigh/butt area which should just appear as a smooth black material.
  8. Agree. You can also see that in the film, as well as on the premium HT figure that TK-14057 is pretty weathered. A nice sandy look going on. ------------
  9. One of my favorite channels on YouTube, 'I Like To Make Stuff' recently did a video where he models, 3d prints, paints and finishes a shoretrooper helmet. I think he did a great job and I'm sure if he wanted to put the little bit of extra time in he could make this every bit as accurate as those seen in the film. I love seeing people make stuff and Bob is really talented. Hats off dude!
  10. Thanks, Michael! Do we have any clear photos of the underarm/side area of the suit?
  11. Was at my local Target tonight, and since I've been on the hunt for R1 bits and bobs for my Patrol Captain (TK-14057) build I thought I'd check around for a possible ribbed undersuit fabric and I think I found something DAMN close. $20 and there's enough fabric in this top to make both elbows, knees and even around underarms if necessary. -------------- My plan is to keep my current one-piece lycra undersuit and cut the sleeves off this for my elbow gaskets and cut/sew pieces from the back for my knee gaskets. Depending on how good it all looks I'll then stitch them permanently in place to the undersuit. Advantage there is that all unseen parts of the undersuit will still be very breathable and cool.
  12. Just got out of the cinema and WOW, what an incredible journey! Loved the story arc, I felt invested and cared deeply as each of our characters met their fate. So moving. Beautifully shot, and the technology from ILM behind recreating Tarkin and Leia while not 100% photorealistic was stunning. It was definitely good enough that it didn't pull me out of the film. My wife didn't even actually realize that Tarkin was not a real actor. That's an incredible feat in VFX! I'll also echo sentiments above that I missed not having the big STAR WARS at the front w/ the scroll, replaced instead by the sort of underwhelming 'Rogue One' title. Meh. Also, I would've loved to see the troopers (all types) be a little more respected and worthy a nemesis. Got annoying seeing the film almost poke fun at how easy it was to take down a stormtrooper.
  13. So one more day to go right? Can't wait to see the results!
  14. Awesome. Can't wait to follow your progress. GOOD LUCK!
  15. Damn, I wish I could afford this build right now!

  18. Creating this thread for the release of a short film I shot earlier this year (I'm a cinematographer by trade) called 'JAKKU: FIRST WAVE'. With the help of myself and a few other great 501st members, we were able to get the production properly kitted, and I think you guys will enjoy the results. About the film-- "Jakku: First Wave” is a short film that takes place in the rear of an Imperial Walker moments before the doors open onto the battle of Jakku. The story follows three Stormtroopers caught up in conversation while cramped, sweaty and nervous before battle. The script and dialog is inspired by the real life stories of US Marines staged and waiting for an assault to begin. The goal of “Jakku: First Wave” is to honor the Imperial soldiers who lost their lives on Jakku by pulling the curtain back a little on one of Star Wars’ most beloved but mysterious groups of characters in a raw and imaginative way." For best experience watch with headphones!
