  1. I made my garter with no sewing. I used 1" nylon strapping, a parachute buckle, and rivets (like the one on your jeans pocket) I made the belt, put the nylon through the buckle and folded it and hammered in the rivets. Riveted two straps hanging down to the thighs and put snaps on those and glued snaps inside my thighs. Very easy. I don't have pictures and it's all packed away at the moment but it's really easy that way.
  2. Thanks for including our big day in the NL!! I can't express enough gratitude to my family in the Southern California Garrison and Rebel Legion. Although, as you can see in the video, my mind went blank and I could barely get out the words I thought I had down pat. Ha ha ha.... You have now seen the reason TK-21129, Teri, calls me Mr. Mumbles.
  3. I've heard nothing but bad things about that seller and his attitude toward the FISD.
  4. I use this Husky 50 gallon crate I bought at Home Depot.
  5. That Anovos bucket looks like Igor... I'll definitely stick with my bucket without the wacky half frown. But, to each his own. The pictures I posted are not of mine. I do not, and will not order from Anovos. I've heard too many complaints.
  6. The guy already has a bid for $530. I don't think he'll go for $350... It's still a good deal because you can get it right away.
  7. There are plenty of Centurions with suspenders. It has nothing to do with it.
  8. I just use padding I bought at Michael's and cut to fit.
  9. What's everyone's impression of the Anovos armor? Specifically, how do you feel about the funky looking frown on that bucket on the bottom? Is it just me or are the teeth really sharp and crooked on one side?
  10. I'm excited to be a part of the Imperial Propaganda Machine! I am very much looking forward to 2016 and any contributions I can make to strengthen and expand the FISD.
  11. I'm gonna follow this thread because I'm finishing my HWT as well and I am curious.
  12. ESB is the best! Ha ha ha... Until I'm finished with my HWT. Then I'll say they're the best.
  13. Get your armor kit. Then start cutting and trimming. You can buy everything as you need it. That's what I did. You can buy some e6000 and build the parts that are glued. Then buy strapping and Velcro. Then buy snaps.... Like that. Little by little. The good news is you'll have plenty of time to do research in between purchases. I'm not a handyman either, but once you get going you get into a certain pace and you become an expert on building armor. Read until you know which kit you want and get it. Then read about building the forearms. Then build them. Before you know it, you'll be done. Feel free to hit me up with any questions that come up along the way.
  14. Buy some Nomex flight gloves. They look great and you can use touch screens. And they don't make you sweat.
  15. When I made this I didn't know how to properly upload photos, so I'll gather up the photos and complete this.
  16. My first tk build took about six weeks. I worked 2-3 hours a day most days on it. ---------
  17. You could use extremely fine wet sand paper. That's what I use, but I paint everything and I use HIPS. Try it on a piece of plastic you aren't using for anything. -----------
  18. I'm 6'2" 220. Here's the kit I used. The only mod I needed was to order a new kidney plate from another trooper who makes extended kidney plates. It's a little more work with this kit because you have to paint it, but it looks great and I've earned Expert Infantry status with it. Plus... No waiting! -----------
  19. No worries... I was just messing around. ;-) I'm in no rush at all.
