  1. Paul is correct. The outdated CRLs need updating to reflect what know to be accurate up to now. It's not right that people are getting judged on their entry using wrong and outed information.....
  2. Michael, I very much doubt you'll be able to put your real sterling on it with strengthening or modifying the manny. I've got one of the bendy manny's I've had for years and the arms and hands aren't strong enough. Getting it to hold a resin or pipe build is tricky in itself. I've never even considered it strong enough for my sterling.
  3. That said you can see the cheat strapping here. But I have seen armour with out it.
  4. Because I've seen different ways of strapping it and different ways of assembly. Some have inner over outer and visa versa. I've seen strapping done differently too. The Velcro and elastic strap on the chest plate for starters. That's not on all I've seen. Different thickness elastic in places. If you look at a number of originals there are differences. Many suits were altered during filming. Not all look the same. There's no point looking at one suit and expecting all to be the same.
  5. Try it together. once you have strapped the butt and Ab plates on an connected the crotch it should all pull in together.
  6. Looking good. I stick the shoulder straps in the oven at 170 for about 45 seconds - 1 minute or so. Just keep an eye on and feel if they are softening a bit then band them over a small saucepan. The strapping seems to differ on armour as does the construction. Here's another pic to throw the spanner in the works.
  7. If you are referring to the armour then that would be from me.
  8. It's this one. http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/251447796379?nav=SEARCH
  9. Shins are the same both sides as are the biceps, bells and forearms. there were only 1 set of each on the original suit that was cast.... I hope to rectify this sometime later this year....just mirror the way you glue them on each side. I use a 4mm rivet and yours looks about the right size.....
  10. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Star-Wars-Costumes-Brandon-Alinger/dp/1783293667/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1435650966&sr=1-1&keywords=star+wars+costumes
  11. I've just assembled one with parts the wrong way. It's accurate as originals were like that so don't fret it's cool.
  12. Oh, I agree with you on it looking better over inner. But just saying it's accurate either way by the looks of it.
  13. I think from now on i might. Just mix it up like they did with the originals. Breaks the monotony.
  14. Actually forearms are overlapping inner over outer as do the thighs. On some suits if original armour. On other suits it's different like the one that is in the exhibitions. so I don't think we can be too picky what is right and wrong. You cannot look at one suit and call that canon. There are variations. Also it is quite hard to tell the difference between the ESB MKII armour and a ROTJ armour if it's coupled with a ROTJ helmet. I think we can overthink this into what's right and wrong. It seems anything goes.
  15. I still think anything goes. Paul shows a pic of one suit of armour and the pic I showed is of another and they are clearly assembled differently. I know that some arms were glued inner over outer but as Paul has shown there were also outer over inner. I have alwasy done outer over inner but as you can see that's not always the case.
  16. I have a load in order. Just waiting for them to come in. If you can wait you can get a set from me.
  17. If you can find 3 1/4" bankers clasps use them. That's what they used on the originals secured with one rivet on each clasp.
  18. The trim really makes a difference to the feel of the armour. Looks like a fine job.
  19. I invert the bottle and run the tip along the edge of the armour and then push the trim on. Keep the side without glue towards you and be careful to keep you hands and fingers off the glued edge when pushing the trim on......
