  1. That was something I wanted to do before (for all of the ab buttons) but I just don't have the know-how to do it. One thing I was thinking was hooking up the iComm's push to talk button to one of them.
  2. Thanks Tony! I'll get to work on those items soon and then submit for Centurion. Thanks for your Anovos build thread too, it was a great resource while I was building mine!
  3. Mine is a little weird - I'm also a railfan (I like watching trains and modelling them) and I live across the street from the tracks, so I see a lot of trains go by. One of the more unique engines that I enjoy seeing is numbered 7695. I just stuck a 1 in front for no real reason.
  4. Thanks guys! I have a new "to do" list and I added trimming more on the eyes to it. My first trim on the eyes didn't take off nearly enough since I was scared I'd mess up and take off too much, but I think I'm more comfortable with the armor now and can do a better job. I will also add a drop of glue to the thigh ammo pack to keep it in place. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  6. I checked on the hand guards on the Nomex gloves today, and they seem to be holding. However, I tugged a little on one corner and it peeled up a bit from the glove. I did use a little pressure, but I wanted to make sure that it wouldn't tear off during a troop if I caught it on something. So I'm not sure if that is going to work. But since I got my Anovos gloves, I CA glued the justjoseph hand guards to those. So if I can't get the Trooperbay hand guards to stay put on the Nomex gloves, I can always wear the rubber gloves and get some thinner cloth gloves for lining so my hands don't sweat like crazy. I also decided to try redoing the bracket for the electronics as one piece with bends rather than gluing pieces together since gluing the parts together didn't seem very strong, especially with electronics strapped to them. So I grabbed a large leftover piece from my armor and cut out a rectangle. This time I used the soldering iron to heat the spots where I would need to bend the plastic to 90 degree angles (I held the soldering iron parallel to the plastic several millimeters above the platic to heat it). I read someone else using this method, and it worked pretty well. I glued the bracket onto the ab plate so that the Aker speaker sits behind the large button plate. Once the glue cures I'll add the vecro to iComm and Memorex box and wire it up.
  7. "Stick figure" trooper actually looks pretty cool - I would be tempted to leave it like that with just the bucket, gloves and boots!
  8. I've been approved and I'm officially TK-17695! Now I need to take some pictures this weekend and submit for EIB!
  9. Wow it's been a long time since I've updated this thread! I haven't actually done any work on my Doopy's since my last update in October. I think after I finished the scope and grip I kind of lost focus and moved on to other hobbies (mostly my HO train table). But then towards the end of January I got my Anovos TK kit and after a month and a half I mostly finished it which really made me want to work on my blaster again. So today I finally jumped back into it. I had the day off from work and after doing a few other tasks, I took the box of Doopy parts to the garage and got to down to business. Folding stock first. I found some small rivets that looked like the right size for the ones in the middle of the folding stock, so I drilled out the resin and they fit perfectly. Then the domes were sanded off from the hinge part and holes drilled for a screw which is about the right size. The screws are also a good length so I don't need to cut them, I can just screw them both in to hold the folding stock on. Next up I needed a screw to hold the front of the folding stock to the barrel. I had a lot of left over screws that I bought for the helmet ears, so I used one of them on the front. The head is on the inside of the barrel with the screw going down - you can kind of see it in this picture looking down the front of the barrel. It took a few minutes to get the screw in from the inside - it involved tweezers and a little swearing. Once I got it in I applied some CA glue so it doesn't fall back into the barrel (I had to make the hole a little larger than the screw so that I was able to get it in). The screw will go into a hole in the folding stock where it will be glued. Folding stock done, I moved on to the power cylinders. I cleaned out the inside, shaved off the resin nut from the front tubes and basically started following Tino's tutorial. After I made the capacitors, I had some green stuff left over, so I decided to add some to the front sight and used a carving tool to add the texture. I might have added a little too much on the front side, but it looks pretty good. I'm waiting for the green stuff to cure on the capacitors before I finish the power cylinders. So I switched to the magazine receiver and magazine. I hollowed out the receiver more to fit Gazmosis's magazine. I had to trim a little from the bottom of the magazine since I didn't hollow out the receiver deep enough. I then made a front sight pin using a screw. I cut off a piece and used a cutting disk on the rotary tool to make it look like the pictures on the blaster reference thread. After cutting it to size it fit perfectly in the front sight that Thrawn's guard sent me months ago. I also started hollowing out the hengstler counter since I bought a cheap counter from Amazon. I didn't get very far with that before calling it a day. Hopefully this weekend I can do more work.
  10. TK-17695 requesting 501st access. http://www.501st.com/members/displaymemberdetails.php?userID=20975 Thank you!
  11. I had today off from work so I had a lot of time to work on stuff. After working on my wife's armor for most of the morning, I went back to the bracket I'm making for the electronics that will go in the ab plate. I've seen other people do this and it seems like a good way to hold everything. The Aker will be clipped to the middle, and the iComm and Memorex receiver will be velcroed to the two wings. I haven't glued it on or added velcro yet, but it looks like it will work. I also re-glued the latex handguards from Trooperbay onto my Nomex gloves using CA glue this time. After a couple hours I checked on one and it seemed to be stuck on pretty well. I'll check again tomorrow and see how they are. Then I spent the rest of the day working on my Doopydoo's E11 which I haven't touched since....oh....September or October last year? I made some really good progress, but I'll update my Doopydoo's thread in the next couple of days with that.
  12. Last week I ordered my wife a Hyperfirm B-grade DLT-19 for her Sandtrooper and it came in yesterday! (Technically it's for her, but there's no reason I can't play with it too!) It looks awesome for a B-grade, just a couple of minor issues that aren't even noticeable. I wanted to take a cool picture of it with my armor, but I didn't have time to suit up so instead I propped it up next to the mannequin. I also tried to put it on my "blaster wall" but it might be a bit too big. Guess it'll have to sit on the ground next to the E11s. As far as updates go (still waiting to hear back on my 501st application), I started creating a bracket made out of styrene that I'm going to mount the iComm, Aker and Memorex wireless receiver to behind the ab plate. I was going to heat bend it, but I accidentally broke it at one of the bends so instead I'm just going to cut out the parts and glue them together, and maybe use ABS paste to strenthen the joints. But since I told my wife that I'd work on her armor, I've been mostly doing that the last few days. I just need to finish up adding snap plates and making the strapping. Then we need to weather her helmet.
  13. I decided I'll do some work on my wife's armor to fit her better, and put in the snap strapping system (I bought her someone's old sandy armor last year and it had a mix of snaps and velcro). So while I'm waiting to hear back on my application, my armor is on daddyquin. The mannequin torso is about 3 inches too high so I need to fix that one of these days. But walking into the room with this standing there is pretty impressive, even without boots or gloves. I'm considering taking my thighs apart and trimming more off the back, mostly for the upper section. There is a lot of room between my leg and the upper half of the thighs. From my photo shoot, you can see the left thigh looks way too wide: I have a feeling if my application is rejected it will be because of my thighs. Although what I haven't done yet is put in padding - it might help if I added padding to the outer leg area so that the thighs don't bump together as much on the inner side, and it could help get rid of that excess gap on the inner leg. And the other day at work I noticed someone did a little drawing in the conference room and figured people here would appreciate it.
  14. I used the hot water bath method to get the ends of my butt plate to curve in more, otherwise they flared out. You look a bit skinnier than me but I have quite a bit of room in my armor as well. It helps when the belt is on tight holding everything together too.
  15. And the application and pictures have been submitted! This wait is going to kill me! I suppose I should start fixing my wife's armor now to keep me occupied. Although I do need to set up the electronics still! Maybe I should start on that. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. Airwolf was good but Macgyver will always be my favorite! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. Today I took my armor to work since my brother-in-law was going to take my submission pictures (he's a photographer/designer). I left the armor in the Husky bin in the car but brought the helmet in to my office. There were a lot of people who wanted to wear it, most of them not knowing how to put it on or what the helmet is made of. One guy forced his head into it without turning the helmet, which caused me to not allow anyone else to wear it. But most of the day the helmet sat beside me, giving me a nice distraction to look at. Later in the day I went to the studio and had my photoshoot. After the shoot I realized my left bicep somehow got turned and my right glove wasn't stuffed under the forearm, and I think the left shoulder bell tends to wander towards the back (although that might have been a result of the turned bicep). They should be easy things to fix. It was pretty fun doing different poses - now I just need to take the close up shots of the armor and send in my pictures!
  18. I didn't notice the trooperbay ones had a message about using E6000 sparingly. I used a decent amount...maybe that was the problem.
  19. I wonder if his are a different material than the trooperbay hand guards. I did get a set of his hand guards, maybe I'll use those instead of the trooperbay ones.
  20. I wonder if it needed a longer cure time or something. I left it for 24 hours before putting the gloves on. I also cleaned the backs with isopropyl alcohol and sanded them down with 100 grit sandpaper prior to putting on the glue.
  21. So the other night I tried to glue the trooperbay latex hand guards to my nomex flight gloves using E6000 to see if it would work. It did not. The glue stuck well to the gloves, but easily peeled off the backs of the hand guards. So now I need to clean off all the E6000 residue from the gloves (which is a lot harder than I expected) and then I'll try using CA glue. I wanted to have the hand guards glued on for today since I'm taking my submission pictures later today, but I'll have to use the Anovos plastic ones. I also haven't received my soft goods from Anovos yet, so I'm using the nomex gloves for my submission pictures - hopefully that won't cause an issue. Speaking of the Anovos soft goods, I checked the FedEx Delivery Manager last week and saw the package from Anovos was getting ready to be sent. Anticipated ship date: Tue 3/15/2016; Scheduled delivery: Sat 3/19/2016. Then on Monday the Scheduled delivery date changed to Pending, which it's still stuck at. They are toying with me!
  22. The tears and traps look pretty good! I don't think I will be able to do as well as you did with my shaky hands.
  23. I wonder if I could just put some ice on it for a while - there's no way the helmet is going to fit in my freezer!
  24. Yeah mine is superglued on as well which is why I'm afraid to take it off. The entire area around the bottom screw is all superglued. If I try prying it off I'm scared that the crack will split even further, possibly ruining the ear. I think I'm going to put in a ticket with Anovos and see if they'll replace the ear.
