  1. Try one of the mirror glaze polishes from Meguiar's. They have a ton of them now and they can be found at most auto stores.
  2. You have to get the 5/8 snap pliers, and they will work with the line 24 Tandy snaps. As long as your work is close to the edge it makes snaps a breeze.
  3. Of course ATA armor isn't in the same level with TE2 or TM. I've never said that, and I hope people don't think that. Is the dome smaller than a TE2 and a CAP, it is but only slightly, but it's larger than the AP and TE smooth cap.
  4. You can use acrylic or enamel on top of enamel, but not enamel on top of acrylic. Just paint the armor white then detail it out with whatever paint you want as long as you brush it and don't spray it.
  5. Yes FX armor is 501st acceptable, but remember it has to be well assembled and there are other elements to the costume than just the armor.
  6. EIB approved, congratulations trooper.
  7. The saps are still going to need help building it. Unknowing people buy the stuff on ebay too. Same for VT, makerofthings, etc.... We are here to get the new guy into armor and into the Legion.
  8. They all variations as the hobby has gone on. Stormtroopers wear blue and only blue tube stripes.
  9. I use dish soap to wash before painting. Also don't use gloss on your armor. Gloss clear coat is brittle and will crack when the armor is flexed, even a little. If the rustoleum pro enamel isn't gloss enough for you try on of the meguires professional mirror glaze products, they make several different ones.
  10. There is an advanced search. Click on the "click for menu" and there is a search tab.
  11. There is a minimum EIB standard and a recommended one. http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=7666 Over time the recommended will probably become the required, plus it's a very easy mod.
  12. You should find out what the helmet was originally painted with. Many paint brands react with other paint brands and you result could look terrible.
  13. Nomex gloves are fine. The holster studs are not an issue, EIB simply states the holster has to be rear mounted. Lastly I'd shim the calves for a uniform look.
  14. Don't do it, it'll generate enough heat when it kicks that it will cause the plastic to wrinkle and deform. Try laying up several layer of good ole Elmers or "white glue". It doesn't generate any heat when it cures, and given enough coats it'll thicken up the area.
  15. 21 EIB to go.
  16. Easy pass. EIB granted, nice build trooper.
  17. You can use thinned down white craft paint. That's what I used on a friends boots and it worked well. Just give it plenty of time to dry.
  18. Paul have you eve messed with HIPS+2, or HIPS+4 since it has rubber added but isn't ABS?
  19. Joey is right, they are not issued in order and there are over 3000 numbers left before we have to go to five digits. Take a browse through, the free numbers start in the 2600s if I remember right. http://www.501st.com/members/roster.php
  20. Don't know if you say it but there is an older thread about this, but it is a few years old---------
  21. You should never expect anything, but most hosts do provide water and sometimes snacks or food. I did get a fruit basket last year when I trooped at a local orchard.
  22. EIB granted, welcome to the ranks trooper.
  23. I had the some problem, I cut and paste and got an error message. When I typed it out, it worked.
  24. Looks good to me trooper, EIB approved. Now all I need is a shot for your profile picture.
  25. Welcome to the FISD Fredrik.
