  1. Does it count if I am only wearing my armor in pieces and with masking tape at this point Just getting back to my build after what seems like an eternity.
  2. Well, time to dust off this thread and get my build back on track. It has been way too long. I spent the weekend fixing countless broken Photobucket image links here, Carolinagarrison.net and Bikerscout.net for both mine and my son's threads. What a mess, fortunately I had backups of everything. I created an account on imgur and moved everything there. Anyway, I am really hoping to get both mine and my son's builds done by Dragoncon this year. I am looking forward to getting back into the build and I am sure I will have lots of questions over the next 6 months
  3. You can click the "report item" link and chose the copyright and trademark option, then counterfeit item or authenticity disclaimer and finally counterfeit, fake or replica item. Then it will give you a text box where you can type a brief description.
  4. Would also help to see how it looks on you as how it fits you is just as critical as the details of how it is assembled....
  5. Going to be driving down with the family. Trying to decide whether to brave parking at the Convention Center or arrange for transportation to and from with my gear. My thinking is it will be easier to deal with my gear if I bring my own vehicle but I have no idea how the parking situation will be. Any input or suggestions? We could not get a hotel close to the convention center, we are staying over by Disney Springs... Thanks Bob
  6. I was curious about the differences in the armor (plastic) itself between the standard and premium kit. They said that the premium is all vac formed whereas in the standard kit some of the pieces are molded (their words)? Really torn between going for the premium kit over the standard kit but having a hard time justifying almost 4 times the cost. Would be interested in input from those with way more experience with these kits than I... Thanks Bob
  7. I wouldn't use a blade off the bat, try to separate it with some dental floss or fishing line first... Just a thought. I haven' tried that myself but my thought is that it shouldn't do any damage. If that doesn't work you may have to get a bit more aggressive...
  8. Have you already purchased the Under Armor stuff? If not, here is what I found... The logos are minimal and should be easily concealed with black marker. With shipping they were $36. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006SRT17W?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages00 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006SRT1WC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages00 Thanks Bob
  9. The description of the auction says it is an unfinished ATA kit. ATA is a known and vetted maker. Provided all the parts are there and nothing has been damaged it should be fine...
  10. Tickets go on sale tomorrow but they have released pricing for Orlando... http://www.starwarscelebration.com/Orlando/Buy-Tickets/
  11. I lived in Orlando and the areas around it for most of my life. I am not even going to try and stay close to the convention center. We will be going for all four days and will likely stay more towards East Orlando, should be far less expensive.
  12. How long did it take for them to sell out last year? I will need 4 4-day passes but will have to spread the purchases out over a few months.
  13. Will by my first, anyone have a rough idea what tickets will cost?
  14. Check out the Jolly Roger Squadron forums, he should find his answers there... http://www.jrs501st.com/forums/index.php?
  15. The Rom-Fx has a built in amplifier, the iComm would require an external amplifier.. If you are using one of the powered speakers than either the Rom-Fx or the iComm would work fine. I plan to use Ukswrath's Hovi Speakers in my helmet so I went with the Rom-Fx.
  16. More will probably see the new verion (who may not specifically be looking for it) if it follows the original version on page 1.
  17. Tony, I have been slowly gathering all the components to duplicate the TK system. The Din8 connectors were the only thing that bothered me. I had been looking for alternatives. The RJ45 connectors will make a world of difference. Can't wait to see the finished product. P.S. The new video is showing as Private...
  18. The wife and kids accused me of stalking you guys Was hoping to chat but every time we ran across you there was a line We are right down the road in Clemson. I have a thread going on the Carolina Garrison forum hoping to get an armor party together at my place. http://www.carolinagarrison.net/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=7820 SC Comicon gave me some renewed motivation to finish my build. Hoping to have it done and approved by DragonCon... http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/32138-bobios-15mm-anh-stunt-build-tm/ Anyway, Great Troop, you guys were awesome!
  19. Was there both days with the wife and kids. You guys were definitely busy...
  20. Hey all, Anyone in the Upstate, SC area planning to attend SC Comicon? I will be there with my kids both days. The wife might even tag along on Sunday. Would love to put faces to some names, hope to see you all there! I had really hoped to have my build done in time for SC Comicon, too much else going on. I will definitely have it done by DragonCon! Anyone know of any armor parties coming up in the Greenville, SC or surrounding areas? http://sccomicon.com/ Bob
  21. John will sell just the board, I purchased mine from him that way. You will have to talk with him about it though as he does generally sell them as a complete package. Just be patient and remember that for many vendors this is a part time gig and they have lives outside the Empire Edit: found the emails from him when I ordered mine. Here is what he quoted me. It was a year ago so that may not be current pricing. Bob
  22. How about something like Google Glass. Would have to be something "like" Google Glass since it never really got off the ground. There are similar devices. Here is just one, Alto Tech's Cool Glass... ------------ It would still require mounting a Bluetooth enabled camera somewhere.
  23. The problem I have with the video is he weathered every single edge on the blaster. We can only speculate on what the finish is and how it would wear. I have had a lot of "blued" firearms over the years and wear just doesn't happen that way. You have to think of what would wear in normal use. What edges would wear from being holstered over and over? What would wear from handling the weapon on a regular basis? What would wear from regular disassembly for cleaning and maintenance? You might imagine what would get damaged from dropping the weapon. Every single edge would NOT get worn like that. I have been pretty happy with the weathering HFx did on my E-11...
