Hopefully you have been following Tony's (ukswrath) build. Lots of great information there. A lot of people are doing the ANOVOS thing, (including myself), and have used his expertise as a guideline. For instance, a few of the ANOVOS parts are mis-labeled, and his information is crucial to this. Like you mentioned, research is your best bet, so we expect you EIB submission as soon as you get your basic approval!!

Looking GREAT so far, Braden! Fantastic job on trimming and sanding!!! It looks like you are shooting for Centurion, which I am glad to see. So VERY glad that you ditched the ANOVOS Velcro in favor of snaps... it will serve you well, I promise. Keep up the great job, and you will be applying for EIB and then Centurion in no time!

I got the name on the shirt change, Jonathan, but Paypal did not send your address. Please PM it to me ASAP. Thanks!

Here are some pics of how I did it, Josh. The first shows the thigh ammo pack. I took a scrap of 1 inch wide aluminum, bent it in half, and epoxied the bottom to the ammo pack, underneath the straps. The part covered in white duct tape (to prevent it scratching my armor) simply slides over my canvas belt. For the shoulder ammo pack, I added 2 snaps on a black nylon loop (be sure to use 2 snaps, trust me), and attached that to the shoulder strap. Both work like a charm, with no problems.

Hi Mitchell! (Hope that answers your question, sir)! We may live in all parts of the world, but we are brothers (and sisters) in arms. A lot of it will depend on the context... i.e. when I say that a great place to get helmet fans is from Tony, I will specify his screen name (ukswrath). Some people may prefer their screen names, but I am just Joseph, (thus the nick). There are no strangers here, only friends we've yet to meet.

If you are planning on renting a car, I would suggest looking at some of the surrounding areas, away from Orlando. There are lots of hotels on I-4 headed west of O-town, around the exit 55 area where I live. I can make it to Disney in less than 20 minutes, and the prices re WAYYYY lower. Also in this area you can rent a 3 bedroom house with a pool for less than $1000. for a week. Zip code 33897 if that helps.

Which movie style is your favorite and why?
justjoseph63 replied to TheLoneRanger's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I guess I will always be an ANH fan. I was 12 years old when it came out, and believe it or not, I saw it 78 times. I used to go to the theater, watch it, and then hide in the seats after each showing to see it again (and again). I got my first job at 13 just to buy the merchandise, (and make Mr. Lucas a little bit richer), LOL. Not sure if you knew this, but the studio had such little faith in this film that they allowed George Lucas to retain all of the merchandising rights to this film. I think I financed half of Skywalker Ranch, including the Stormtrooper shaped swimming pool. (Or did I dream that), LOL. -
The thread is going up a day early, folks. It should be up in about 5 minutes!

Armor in the rain question
justjoseph63 replied to Pledford's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Good call by Matt... I always wipe down the inside of my armor using those disposable germ killing wipes after particularly sweaty troops before I put it away. Moisture, darkness, and no air flow while stored in your bin make for stinky armor, so just drying it out thoroughly will help. -
I actually ordered a paint-ball gun carrying case, Ruben. The problem is, I don't remember where I ordered it from. The magazine clip does bulge out a bit, but it is mainly designed to keep it from getting banged up too bad. That is why I recommend actually taking it in with you to ensure a good fit. Also, get one that is lined with fake sheepskin or padding.

The undersuits can be purchased from Aamazon, ebay, or even most sporting goods stores, but I suggest the 2 piece to make it a bit easier to answer "natures call", and although some have small logos, you can always wear them inside-out to hide them. Darman makes a GREAT neck seal. I have purchased two, and love em'! http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/21385-darmans-neck-seals/. There are 2 companies that make boots, TKboots and Imperial boots. Both can be found in the "Ongoing Sales" thread. If you need anything else, just ask!

What are you looking for in particular, Shawn?

All international orders will be shipped directly from the manufacturer, Peter. Sorry..

Don't want to hijack your thread, AJ, but here is one photo of my latest E-11.. (I am PMing you a few more). You don't need to go crazy with the weathering, as sometimes less is more. You want to make it look as if it has been used, (but not beat up) with highlights on areas which would "get the most wear and tear". A couple of things, though... the scope should be have brass highlights. Also, the T-tracks should not be weathered at all. If you have any questions, just PM me and I will more than happy to help ya' out!

Here are a couple of things, including the ones you PM'd me about, Alex.. The thighs can certainly be trimmed at the top, but do it gradually. Like Luc mentioned, you want it to be at a minimum, but you still need to be able to walk and move comfortably, and not have them rub on the ab plate. The left calf looks mighty loose at the top to me. (Photo 1) You may need to see about trimming it down, but be careful that you do it at an angle that still leaves room in the bottom to fit around the top of your boot so they are not too tight there or ride up over it. I am assuming that you are still in the trimming stage, but be sure to take a file to those rough jagged edges on the tops of the thighs and such. It also looks as if you removed the return edges on the top of the calves. The thigh ammo pack and sniper knee plate will cover the the fronts, but you may have trouble down the line with the backs. As for the padding you asked about, you really shouldn't need any in the forearms. You can (and should) trim ALL the return edges off around the wrist first, then cut down the rear slightly. You should be able to slide your hand through comfortably but with minimal room at the wrist and have enough room in the elbow area without having too much. Your calves seem to ride forward, I noticed. The above suggestion about trimming should help, but you can add 1 inch thick strips (about an inch wide) to anywhere you need to. Judging from the photos, I would suggest the back. I hope the screw holding your ear on is temporary... The ones you will need are machine screws with a V shaped head and a flat (not philips) head. (photo 2) Don't get discouraged, (the Death Star wasn't built in a day), and keep at it, sir!

Perhaps someone out there is looking to form their own "Rubies" Garrison in the 502nd Legion...

This gives you 5 weeks to get approved and get your number posted, Chris. Now get going!!

That is exactly what I just did to my Anovos bucket. I am going for a Hero build on this one, so there are a LOT of changes in the works... turning 4 bumps into 3, filling the screw hole in the ear. I have about 8 hours into it, and still have one ear left!
-
Just as Terry mentioned, mask it off. I would also recommend sanding down and then de-greasing the inside before you use the Plasti-Dip for better adhesion.

I just finished using ABS paste on my future Hero bucket, Andy. I will try to answer your questions as best as I can from personal experience.. 1. I bought mine from Lowe's. The brand name is Jasco, and unfortunately they only sell it in larger cans. 2. I cut the ABS into tiny, TINY pieces, (about 3 teaspoon's worth), put it in the jar, and added the Acetone in small amounts. Don't go crazy with it, otherwise it will be too runny. Make sure you get a jar with a lid. 3. I stirred it frequently, and it took a couple of hours to get to the consistency I wanted, like pancake syrup. You may want yours thicker, though, depending on what you are using it for. 4. Keep the lid on when not stirring it! 5. I waited 24 hours for it to dry, but you may need to wait longer depending on humidity and thickness, 6. Mine is still in a liquid form, but like I mentioned, keep the lid on. I have found that when working with ABS paste, you have to work kind of quick, as it gets a "skin" really fast. Also, make sure it is completely smooth, without lumps before applying it. Hope this helps!
