  1. One other question is designations. We've used TK in the past, but Finn's designation is different (I don't know how to do the fancy spoiler thing, but I'll assume most people know what I mean). However, I do think that I heard a trooper referred to as "TK" later in the movie (on the planet that Maz Kanata's "cantina" was on). That's something I need to check to make sure about, but it could pose some interesting CRL issues.
  2. I wouldn't call it "interest free" at all, if you ordered in tier one. I'm getting almost 200% of what I paid in terms of value. $350 for a $650 kit? That's still an amazing deal, regardless of the wait time. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
  3. I'm seeing it at ten tonight and then immediately after at midnight.
  4. That's encouraging! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
  5. That is certainly my priority! [emoji2] Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
  6. I think it'll have to wait, but at least now I have another goal to work towards...
  7. Man, now I want a Warboy Stormtrooper and Imperator Phasma
  8. May you ride eternal in Valhalla, shiny and chrome.
  9. Well for those troopers to be explicitly non-canon, they'd have to be actively dismissed in canon media. You'd need a character in a film, novel, or comic saying explicitly "X does not exist." Canon can't be wiped away (except by huge changes like the Disney purchase, which didn't really wipe away canon so much as dismiss pseudo-canon material). My understanding, at least in regard to Star Wars, is that canon has to be overwritten.
  10. The only problem that I can see with their complaints is that no matter what, ANOVOS just won't be up to snuff against the higher-quality and more expensive armors. It might have a chance at taking some business from armorers in the lower end of the price range like ATA, but let's face it: if someone wants TM, they're going to buy TM. I expect ANOVOS' armor to be a little lower-quality than ATA, but with all the soft parts the ANOVOS price is still going to be an excellent deal. That being said, ATA basically has unlimited demand (his wait times are already insane, and I'm sure they'll stay that way) so I really don't think it'll impact his business at all. They're similar products, but ultimately they're all good for different things. ANOVOS isn't going to make as big a splash as many seem to believe. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
  11. My understanding is that the battle of Jakku is 100% canon as it's in other sources (the new novels, I think) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
  12. If we're to view Battlefront as canon at all then Shadowtroopers are canon to a certain degree.
  13. I'm gonna go with 20
  14. I'm really not guessing. If you read over the rules for the 501st, which are available to the general public, it's very clear that the actions of members are understood to be representative of the organization as a whole. That's why membership can be revoked for involvement in criminal activities. I'm not saying that the 501st is under any kind of corporate leadership. I'm not saying that the 501st is like a business at all. Again, it's a club. Yes, individual choices can be made. However, those choices reflect on the rest of the 501st as every member is viewed as representative of the whole. Again, this isn't a ban on blasters. It's a request to refrain from carrying them.
  15. Thanks! I think it's important that we talk about this stuff, because these issues are very powerful and have a lot to do with complicated emotional responses. It's hard to really talk through violent problems like these, but it's necessary. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
  16. At no point did I use "double talk." I'd like to start this by saying that I'm not a 501st member, so I can't read discussions on the main boards. Here's the thing: as a member of the 501st, you do not exist to represent yourself or your opinions/beliefs. That's not how an organization works. You wouldn't go to work and refuse to carry out company policy because you were too proud to. As a member of the 501st, you represent the whole of the 501st. That means that you need to follow any rules or regulations set by the 501st. It means that you need to respect and adhere to any official requests made by the 501st. I'm all for challenging governing powers and questioning authority, but in this instance it isn't really appropriate. You're a volunteer, and your membership in the 501st is a privilege. Because it's a privilege, there are no rights associated with it. There aren't any laws securing your right to bear blasters. That's just how it is. Basically, you're part of a club. When you're in a club, you follow the club's rules. If you don't follow the club's rules, the rest of the club kicks you out, because it doesn't make sense that one member should get to decide not to follow the rules when everyone else does. I don't know what I'm not communicating, but that's what it boils down to. Your membership is a privilege, your ability to carry blasters at official events is a privilege. No rights are being infringed upon, nobody is being harmed, no terrorists are winning.
  17. Thanks for that. What's the "Gentle Giant 3D Systems" bit?
  18. I'm not exactly sure what you mean... Pictures of both the CVII and SDCC booths were posted in this thread as well as on the Facebook group page. ANOVOS sends out fairly frequent announcements of new products via both e-mail and Facebook. ANOVOS even posted on their Facebook page about their helmet display. They even tag their own page in their posts, in addition to using a hashtag for their brand. I'm not sure what evidence of their advertising tendencies you want. I thought they'd been fairly clear about the fact that they want their name to be associated with every product they put out as heavily as it possibly can be. I'm not saying that it's a bad thing, I'm just saying that I think they would have at least had a logo or something on those price signs if they were the ANOVOS suits.
  19. They were super public about their appearances at CVII and SDCC. Every time ANOVOS has a display set up it's one of the most logo-plastered displays I've ever seen. I'll check out the link to the Sith Lord detachment info. Edit: I'm not a Sith Lord detachment member, so I can't see the thread. Is someone willing to link individual pictures here or something?
  20. I'd also like to point out that if it were ANOVOS, it would have the name all over it. ANOVOS has been very public about everything they've put out because they desperately need that brand recognition which will give them an edge as a commercial production company. If this kit was ANOVOS I think it would be very clear that it's ANOVOS. There's no name or logo, there hasn't been an announcement about having a kit on display, and there's been no material to even suggest that they're putting any kind of display out until the actual product is released. In the past they've been very clear about ownership of their materials and displays. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
  21. My girlfriend works in Hollywood Studios, where launch bay is located. She's in that park just about every day so if you need pictures I can ask her for some. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
  22. Disney is displaying AP armor with a price tag? Is that even kind of okay? If that's really the case then I'd assume AP knows about it, but... That just seems a little shady to me. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
  23. Again, there's no loss of freedom here. You were never guaranteed a right to bear blasters. In the 501st, you're part of an organization. As such, you're required to follow its guidelines. You agreed to that when you signed on. You forfeited your "freedom" the day you became a member. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
