  1. Well it's also only going up to 650$, which makes it even harder to beat for independent armorers. I think we can safely expect a fairly high-quality product.
  2. Ordered mine this morning!
  3. Well that's really bizarre. I hope this doesn't do too much damage to your plans [emoji53]
  4. What you're seeing isn't tax, it's the cost of shipping and handling. That's going to be unavoidable with almost any online purchase.
  5. I'll be joining that soon, I think. Also, keep in mind that you can cancel your order and receive a refund as long as you cancel before it ships. So if you're on the fence, order now and then cancel later if you end up not wanting it.
  6. Anovos has stated that the armor featured in their images is their prototype.
  7. Well if you're going to buy the Anovos classic TK, you should do it now while it's so cheap. The price seems to be the most appealing thing about it. The included soft armor is a sweet deal, but we have so few details about that aspect that I think a lot of people are assuming that the soft parts may be on the lower end of the quality spectrum.
  8. Yeah, I wish I'd done what you're doing. I'm joining later than I may have initially planned, but money is more difficult for me to come by than time is, so I'm willing to give it all the time I need to. That's why the Anovos kit is so appealing to me [emoji14]
  9. There are a lot of ways to do the blaster, so do some research and then choose what works best for you. As for the boots, from what I've heard TKboots is the way to go.
  10. Yeah, I'll be ordering mine in the next week or so.
  11. I see. That would certainly be a problem. However, it looks like the Anovos plate is separate: http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0346/5761/products/sw-imp-trooper-13.jpg?v=1428812660 Zoom in enough and you'll be able to see the edges. Sorry that I'm not able to post a better picture. Being on mobile makes it difficult.
  12. I can't find the FAQ again because I'm on mobile and I don't remember how I got there originally. I also don't know enough about TDs or TK to TD conversions or anything like that. It looks to me (based on a quick glance at the TD ab plate) that it should be fine. Am I incorrect in believing that the only difference between a TK and TD ab plate is the paint?
  13. They say in their FAQ that the ab plate details come finished in the completed ensemble but that the builder must paint/decal them for the raw kit.
  14. There are a few cool troopers in this scene that nobody seems to have talked about. I don't have a good enough screencap for it, but in addition to the TK and the snowtrooper and this guy, there seems to be a heavy weapons trooper. He's not wearing a backpack and he's got a very large cannon-looking thing. I'll look for a shot of him once I'm on my computer, but I have no proof at the moment.
  15. There is no kit which is fit for approval directly out of the box. However, most kits can be made worthy of approval with enough work. From what I've seen and read, this kit should be perfectly fine if you're going to build it yourself. As for the pre-assembled kit, that remains to be seen. The only pictures we have are of a prototype and the FAQ isn't exactly enlightening in terms of construction methods. In short, you should be able to build it up to 501st approval, but the assembled kit might not be built up to 501st standards.
  16. I don't know about Caitlin, but I've been preparing for this for a while now. I've got all the tools I should need and I have a little experience working with kits. I'm really only going with this kit because of the amount of money that it'll save me. Soft armor can get expensive if you're going with good products from vetted producers, and while I definitely plan on phasing these soft pieces out as time goes by if they're not very high-quality, this seems to me to be a good way to get everything at a basic level.
  17. That's what I'm doing! It seems like the perfect starter kit to me. If the materials are crappy in terms of the soft armor you can always phase them out as you continue your build, but for the beginning this gets you set up really quickly, easily, and cheaply.
  18. Oh, okay. Just different worlds, then. Thanks for the clarification!
  19. Sorry, I haven't spent much time researching E-11s because they've been a bit out of my total budget for a while. That's going to change with the savings that the Anovos kit will net me, but I don't know what you mean by police or swat. Is this in terms of who's going to let you carry the weapon in public or is it something else?
  20. Well to be honest this just keeps looking better and better.
  21. No, no invitation is required. You should be able to find their site just by searching Anovos.
  22. I think something that people seem to forget is that it's a 650$ kit. The 350$ price is a promotional price and is ending pretty soon. They're not selling something low-quality. They're just making it affordable to gain wiggle space so they can start the manufacturing process smoothly.
  23. That's a really bizarre idea for construction, and it means that they can't be altered in terms of fitting or anything like that. I think I might shoot them an e-mail regarding some of the finer details of the helmet. I'll post what I get back.
