  1. Welcome to the AM family. I love my armor.
  2. Yeah, I noticed the Amazon prices were pretty high. But a used one on eBay worked for me considering I wasn't using all the pieces anyway.
  3. I found a couple on eBay US, used. Didn't seem too expensive. Good luck.
  4. Thank you for this thread, it was very helpful to my own poor man's DLT-19. The build-your-own blaster are great. Here's a picture of my recent build.
  5. I just wanted to share what I did with the counter. I glued magnets to a DD counter and the blaster "counter" and it works nicely. I can easily change batteries or toggle between "stun" and "regular" modes
  6. Great advice, thanks for sharing.
  7. Looks nice. I'm getting ready to start the same build, thanks for sharing your progress.
  8. I just finished an AM 2.0 build and got approved in March. I'm basically the same size (5' 11", 215 lbs.), and the armor is great. I'm learning the reality of maintaining armor for regular use (they're right, you never really "finish" your build). I wore it at Wonder Con and Celebration non-stop, and it held up pretty well. I did get some cracking on the chest plate, but I heard that's not uncommon. I've learned not to wear it for extended periods (like 7 hours) any more :-). I'd recommend this armor to get you approved and trooping. My first official troop is this Saturday, and I can't wait.
  9. TK12715 requesting access. http://www.501st.com/members/displaymemberdetails.php?userID=18434 Thanks
  10. I'm working on an AM 2.0 build now, and there a number of small oddities. I was also at an armor party recently with folks with NE armor, and their kits were very similar to mine.
  11. Everything looks great, I'm sure you'll get final approval. Thanks again.
  12. Mutter, thanks for the great thread. I'm just starting work on an AM 2.0 build (first ever armor), and am running into many of the same issues you are. Your posts are very educational. Thanks again for sharing.
  13. Thanks for the input. I'll take some pictures after I get home from work, and try posting them.
  14. Hi Everyone, I'm a newbie working on my first ANH Stunt AM 2.0 build and am continually impressed with the support here on FISD. Well, I've got my first question, and I'm sure it's dumb, but heck, if I don't ask, I won't know. Do ANH Stunt forearms need a return edge on the back (toward the elbow). They're fitting a little long, and it be nice to trim the extra length from the back. Thanks, I appreciate any advice you guys have to offer.
  15. Thanks Francois, got my Imperial boots a few days ago and they're great. Thank you too for the advice to get a larger size.
  16. This is a great idea for a thread. I'm just starting out and hope to join the 501st sometime this year. I'm still new to this forum, but it is clear that this is a very supportive group. In July 2014, my wife and I started using the "Lose It" app on our Android phones. I recommend this app highly. From July until today (1/1/15) my wife, adult daughter and I have lost almost 100 total pounds. I went from 254 lbs. to 224 lbs, and plan to continue loosing until I reach my goal 210 lbs. I am expecting to receive a set of AM armor sometime this month, and plan to build the abdominal sections last, to accommodate hopeful future weight loss. One of the things that I've been doing to inspire myself is to put a picture of a Stormtrooper helment on my phone lock screen. This way I am constantly reminded to watch what I eat (so far, so good). The one thing I've learned during this whole process, is to be patient. My weight goes up and down, no matter how "good" I am. But by staying consistant, I have lost weight, and more importantly, have permantly changed my eating habits for the better. Since I don't have my armor yet, I can't post any pictures of me in my armor, but here are a few pictures of me at cons from about a year ago, and recently. I am looking forward to getting healthier and trooping in the future.
  17. I was asked to post of few more pictures of this build. This was my first blaster build, and I had a great time doing it. I decided to weather it a bit to give it that battle-used look.
  18. Hey Russell, it's great to see you starting your build, thanks for posting this thread. I'm looking forward to seeing your progress. I'm still waiting to hear when my armor will be ready for shipping.
  19. Thanks for all the feedback. I ended up going with regular flat spray paint, gold and silver paint pens and Rub and Buff for weathering.
  20. I'm a total newbie and am working on my first doopy doos blaster build. I'm just about done, and just need to do the final detail painting. I've discovered that Testors paint is not that good, can anyone recommend a good paint to use to paint screws, bolts, etc? I appreciate any suggestions. Thanks
