TK5492 Requesting ANH Stunt EIB Status[216][FX]
TK bondservnt replied to TK5492's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
the only thing I see is the thickness of the ears. other than that and the 4th tooth detail needs some more photo evidence I have the mrce efx lid I moded for hero. and it requires the thinning of the ears. -
The CRL has been modified a little.. can mason chime in on this point?

My AP armor build [*AP]
TK bondservnt replied to AbrahamLINC0LN's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
you should not separate the ab cod. cover strips are for ANH style of assembly, they are a MUST HAVE return edges for the front of the forearm are all you need to remove. otherwise you should use screenshots for that. you can use velcro anywhere you want, just remember that snaps are more robust. -
usually there is a snap plate and elastic arrangement. some people put garters on em, some attach to the ab/cod the originals were glued elastic and a safety pin.

I have real and resin ones if you're interested in finding out more? PM me if you'd like.

that's my hengstler photo with measures. need and more data?

ditch the dual snaps and the webbing and it's better.

very interesting read paul! thanks so much... more more! so then we have the LFL archive photos to show a comparison between AA and LFL sculpts as proof of this modern modification of the base buck? so at one point we have MG and LFL doing a photo shoot, and do we see an evolution to the AA sculpt as time progresses? just like most armorers don't they all mod their sculpts at some point over time? it would be interesting to have a shepperton sitting next to a modern AP as a comparison?

Q: Sanding & Polishing - Beyond Novus?
TK bondservnt replied to LadyInWhite's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
well there's always spare parts to get a new shin made? sorry to hear about your fall. I had a fall and my friends just stood by and laughed at me... (having non star wars friends can produce damaged armor) -
if you can post a comparison between the accounts it would be a fun read! you can tell there were probably quite a few different bucks used to make faceplates. doesn't that explain why there are so many variations? AA formed with a group of people in the shop as well didn't he? so there was some work done by his shop team that he might not even have formed himself? taken off the buck before fully cooling, warping, age and damage to the buck? ect. maybe one faceplate had pills in the tears and no eye bump and one had an eye bump and no pills?

I don't support the lies... I just want the real story sifted... paul and matt can help people to better understand the drama. I bring this stuff up as a way of exploring the data. it's called a debate... I take one side out of curiosity. not because I agree with it. or even support it.
-
good point paul! then why didn't they just pull another 52? what's the real story? didn't AA sculpt the hero faceplate and do the ABS runs in his own shop? or did elstree tell him to move to ABS for the hero suits? did elstree do the 3 hole faceplate sculpt and the bubble eyes sculpt? interesting point karin... but the hero faceplate has a ton of differences between a stunt face with "just a little clean up" that's not how hero's were done... it was a completely different buck.
-
he's not the originator of the sculpt, he's a sculptor in a different medium and he didn't "cast" it he sculpted it again with changes for making it into a costume. he took a full 3d design with no seams and designed the assembly process and chose where to break the design apart.

one of the reasons why the ribbed cap n back was produced is because one of the cap n back moulds broke. if a mould was destroyed during production, and needed to be re created, that would explain why the design changed. and if there were helmets made from the previous mould buck that was damaged/destroyed during the forming process then this would explain the differences in cap n backs on helmets. the hero design is a great example for the changes made by andrew for the transition from hdpe to abs. andrew fully explains in his modern videos the process of creating a heat resistant buck it's something he learned in forming college. he was not just a former... he was a sculptor of a different kind. he does not work in clay and plaster. he works in aluminum dust, steel fillite powder and high heat custom resin formulations that create a steel and aluminum alloy suspended in resin. he created the hero buck, that's another great example of how he modified the design. andrew didn't run over to elstree for new bucks... he sculpted them himself.
-
he resculpted the bucks. that's his point!
-
you're right people! but don't forget that elstree could not do it. and the stack of helmets and armor sitting on the sidewalk tell the full story. it's a sad drama... full of lies, mis accounts and hot white plastic!

if you read his original account of the details, he says it's the original. the RS props designs are like going back in time, and if you look at a gino helmet you can see the details in the tears, and the width of the face. my main point here is that AA did the original armor. and he formed the suit that RS props has "recast". it's strange how someone can purchase a copyrighted work, copy it and then be praised. and how someone who did the originals, lost the moulds, and then had to scramble to "re-create" them and told lies about it all... and he can win in court? I like the RS props work of art... but it does not give a company the "right" to make copies, and sell them? so in a lot of ways I'm sure that LFL is taking a blind eye to the prop community and see it as a bonus to have thousands of stormtroopers marching! I guess in the end it helps LFL's mission to keep the franchise moving forward. it's an interesting read there matt... but there are a lot of conjecture in that post sir. it says things like "must have" or "inconceivable" that andrew could have sculpted bucks from the original sculpt that brian and liz did. they are saying that he cast it in fibreglass first. but the key concept here is that elstree could not produce the armor from the bucks they made and they hired AA to do it! when AA came up with the TIE pilot, or the X wing pilot... or the cheese grater, or the other helmets in the film those designs were not based upon RMQ designs but were approved as new additions. that excerpt from the trial is conjecture... not fact. the helmet design with the ribbed back n cap is a great example of a helmet design presented to george and he didn't approve it. you may remember the design, it looked like a 3" ribbed vac hose.

those things you mention are facts. well done! the simple detail remains. AA formed and assembled the original armor in STAR WARS. the drama that unfolds after that is what everyone's distracted by. his helmet mould is the original. and that's what he's talking about. now we all know how it's a great possibility that the "skins" off his damaged moulds look one heck of a lot like a ROTJ suit!! but it is a FACT that he did the original armor, from those original sculpted moulds he fashioned in his own shop. what happened after the film wrapped and the many years that follow... there's the drama. remember people... LFL lost their case of lawsuit. we all love the heat that gets generated whenever AA is mentioned here... harness that power and you can power a space station.
-
no matter how you sling it AA did the armor for the films. it's sad that people just can't get over the fact that the original moulds were destroyed in a fire. he had to "re-create" the bucks from "skins" he had saved aside from the moulds. sort of a sad comporomise. brian muir and liz moore did the original sculpts...; and then andrew sculpted his own to form with. no matter what anyone thinks... he did the originals. just didn't originate the design. he came up with the ears, and the sharper vocoder. those details are his.

Painting the inside of a bucket.

I think it would make the helmet darker from the outside a little? does it affect the color in photos from the outside? -
AP ANH stunt first build
TK bondservnt replied to Jeepfrog's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
the teeth should be not painted on the lips of the helmet, just on the tabs. you need to sand out the eyes a bit more as well. no flashing and you're golden! nice work so far!
