Make sure the fellow garrison mates are interested in L2 or L3 accuracy, some people don't care or don't know how to build armor past basic.

Excellent! Glad it helped out

Yea well I estimate the screen armor is around 6mm thick judging by some of the pictures I've seen. Since ANOVOS armor is 1/3rd that if not less it doesn't leave us with many options. .75mm was the thinnest plastic I could find and still be able to define the layers. As you said, definitely better than before.

Accuracy update cont... Bicep one updates complete. Well after a week or so of being sick I back at it. So I left off test fitting the inner cover strip. Now let's glue that sucka down. I started with the side with the notch so I know I'll have a nice flat side to glue my notch steps. Install cover strip and clamp Once dry measure a 2-3mm gap width at the cover strip as the distance between halves. Glue the other side Sand down the cover strip surface to allow for good bonding of the notch steps as well as prep for primer later. Using .75mm yard sale sign material cut out the lower (base) step. From what I've seen in canon pics this is how I believe it's done, who am I kidding, I'm sure it's 3d printed. NOTE: There are exact measurements for this that are not being disclosed but I will tell you this, take the overall depth of the notch and divide it into 3rds, cut and glue the steps in place as follows. This will be close enough to accuracy trust me. We're talking milometers here. Check fit Cut out step 2 and check fit. Finally the 3rd layer, and of course I forgot to take a pic, splendid. So let's assemble these sections. Start by sanding each section, top and bottom. Apply glue to the cover strip, lower level. Install lower (base) level Install 2nd (middle) level ... and finally the 3rd (upper) level Finished! Before... (though the opposite forearm) After.. Finalize with a bit of level sanding and we're good to go.

"is the overall construction a requirement?" This is a broad statement. I would say yes and no. For those who haven't read it yet here's a CRL http://www.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TK_anh_stunt Granted certain sections of the armor can be assembled or attached in several ways the overall appearance should follow what's stated in the CRL. I would encourage everyone to build your armor to L3 requirements right out of the box, only because how the armor looks and feels is at it's best when assembled this way. Is it a requirement, no. Will effect basic 501st approval no. As for the clam shell (left side Ab to Kidney section) and how it is assembled, there is no 501st standard. Some individuals are not proportioned to fit perfectly in armor and so it's not a requirement to have these individuals install shims. Without shims internal connections will be exposed. With that said "gaining approval", basic 501st that is, won't make any difference. Did I answer all your questions?

Velcro or snaps is not a approval requirement. EDIT: To be clear, whether you use snaps, velco or hook and straps, the requirement is that visual snaps and rivets be present. They do not have to be functional.

As for the assembly just a rag wipe down or compressed air should be sufficient. Before applying fillers and paint washing is best, just ensure it is completely dry before proceeding. Future note: As for the filler, though I haven't seen anyone document this yet it's best to use some type of adhesion spray or wipe on the target area prior to applying the filler to assist in the bonding process between the two materials. Just a FYI. -

The red arrows indicate what a few if us believe to be decals, judging by what appears to be a air bubble indicated by the green arrow. Greg we're not judging your exceptional skills or your fabulously crafted bucket, if the questions are new to you then welcome to the FISD . We're just curious armor builders and wearers and want to see your product advance in accuracy. A lot of us here love to personalize our armor for various reasons. Ex. My question regarding thickness is because I will be grinding on the interior to prepare it for a hard hat insert and I need to know how much thickness I'm working with. Keep up the good work -

Hey Jason what is it about Greg's bucket do you like over the ANOVOS? BTW this is just information for the masses. Besides the lens installation is there anything else you plan on doing to it? Thanks -

I do like the fact you contoured the outer rim and defined the chin, very well done. Do you have any plans to refine the interior? EDIT: Being many may want to sand the interior to a cleaner finish do you know the approximate wall thickness to help us avoid sanding through? -
Well on a positive note the bride looks awesome

Going by these new comparison pics Greg's bucket looks to be slightly larger than the ANOVOS, similar to that of the RT-mod buckets. This is by no means a deal breaker but it is worth mentioning also, and now that's it's been illustrated the ANOVOS TFA armor itself isn't as accurate as originally thought I'd say Greg's bucket is a serious contender. Very impressive -
For the record, all you need to focus on Michael is the CRL requirements (below). The face plate, tube diameter and end cap width will all vary between armors. Most of these differences won't make a lick of difference with approvals. Thermal Detonator For 501st approval: (A.K.A. O2 canister) attaches to the center back of the belt. Detonator consists of an all grey cylinder, without silver stickers or silver paint. The cylinder is between 2” (50mm) and 2.68"(68mm) in diameter with white end caps on each end. The white control panel pad faces upwards, with the controls/round washer style detail closest to the right end cap. The total length is approximately 7.50" (190.5mm). The thermal detonator is attached via metal or metallic-appearing clips, approximately 1" (25mm) wide. For level two certification (if applicable): Thermal detonator belt clips are positioned with little to no gap between the clips and the end caps.
