  1. I'm surprised everyone says how much of a great deal it is. (it is sold now, so someone agreed). But if you don't mind doing the trimming and fitting yourself you can buy the same supplier parts for an awful lot less. Yes, buying trimmed already and helmet made adds a lot to the cost, but does it add to the value? The peson who bought thought so, I guess.....
  2. Easy - Tissue paper!
  3. Everything glued. Two main parts that required putty were the scope parts And the folding stock. It didn't quite meet up where the 2 parts joined Sanded, ready for paint Question though - I want to keep the holes open to see the red lights down the barrell. How do I cover them up so the paint doesn't get in? (I see why some people have completely pulled their Hasbro's apart). I wonder if I just spray on an angle, I could keep most of the paint out??
  4. After seeing some great modded Hasbro's and some great scratch built and Doopey type builds, I decided I would do both. 1 - A very basic Hasbro build to start trooping with and when I'm ready to go EIB or Centurian I'll do up a different blaster. As I said, there's some great Hasbro builds with mods here and there, but I thought I'd document just a basic build gluing the Doopey parts on and painting and seeing how it comes out. That's it (I think, for now, maybe.....) Left side plus Doopey kit Right side First step it to cut the tip off with a dremel. Take it slow and watch out for those wires. If you're not careful, it will end up a lot more than a basic build, or you'll have no light. That's gotta go from underneath Gone I reckon I need to cut the scope along this join Gone. They're the extra scope parts from the Doopey kit My folding stock wouldn't sit flush on the bottom of the barrel, and meet up with the 'bolt holes' at the rear, so I had to cut a bit off the main blaster here: Ok, maybe a bit more than basic build, Sanded off the writing at those two grey bits. Just lots of Hasbro/Lucas Film copyrighting stuff And that's about it. Positioned some parts to see if they would fit and what it will look like. The Ammo box wouldn't go on flush, so had to dremel a bit out of it. Other than that, good to go. So lesson # whatever, test fit every part before applying glue. More to come later
  5. Awesome job so far. Can't wait for the finished result.
  6. Did you get your shin/calf issue worked out? Not sure about the velcro method, but a lot of people are using the hook in the hole method. Check this troopers build thread (a little bit down on the first page) http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/24295-ata-anh-stunt-build-lets-see-how-this-goes/
  7. It wasn't 13 - 16 stripes you were thiking of? Although the CRL's say 9-16
  8. Awesome! Although you need to work out a way to get the boots on the manequins.
  9. So, were all the bits there, or was a certain 'better half' exagerating as they sometimes do?
  10. Curious to see what the popular armor was, I counted up just the last 2 pages of Expert Infantryman Requests and came up with: 14 - ATA 13 - RS 9 - TM 5 - AP, FX 3 - TMC 2 - NE, RT, BFA 1 - AM, Rubies, TE2, CFO 2 suppliers on the top of my list are AP and ATA. Mt dilema is, ATA is about $250- cheaper that AP, but there is a 7 month wait. Will the AP be a better product for the extra cash, or do I wait 7 months for a cheaper product (no helmet decals with the ATA, but will be painting anyway...)
  11. That's exactly what I'm thinking. As long as I don't lie about it's condition or probable brand, then buyer beware I suppose. However, as mentioned, to the untrained eye it looks ok and is a huge talking point when visitors see it standing proud in the lounge room, so maybe leave it as is, and buy a new kit and keep it in a box away from the light when I'm not trooping.
  12. Thanks for the replies guys. That link is great Eric. Thanks. I guess the biggest thing is the helmet. Although the kids and parents (and me at the moment) just see a white stormtrooper, fellow troopers (and me soon) will know the difference. Derek - actually is is starting to yellow in some places. Obviously not that much that you could tell in the photos but when you get close you can, and put a new one next to it, I'm sure you'd tell. Is there anyway to fix this? Or make it into a sandtrooper the only option? Maybe I just buy a new kit......
  13. New here, so be easy with me please...... As I mentioned in my intro, I've had my armor for about 10 years. Did a bit of research a the time but really can't remember who/what/where, apart from it was some guy in the USA and cost me about USD$600- in a big cardboard box. Had to do all the trimming, gluing, painting, adding velcro, straps etc. I've had it mounted on a timber maequin for all this time until my 15 month old daughter sent it tumbling. A few marks, a few bits where the glue has separated, but not too bad. So, what is it? Can it be approved for the 501st? Do I rebuild it to 501st specs, or just get it together on the manequin again? Anyway, onto a bunch of pics:
