  1. A 25 picture update coming along in the next day or two... Scope rail is cut and shaped, but still needs paint and some holes drilled in it. The inner barrel has had a slot cut out of it for the scope rail to fit into it. The Stock retaining pin is completely shaped and ready for assembly. Three more parts are painted and drying. I've reached an internal debate about the final color scheme, and that has given me quite a pause lately. Update coming soon.
  2. Wow... I totally like where this is heading!
  3. I just wanted to take a moment to wish all the FISD moms a very happy Mother's Day!!! Many of you do so much for many of us on a day to day basis, and it is more important than any secret data hidden in an astromech droid, in some cases, less appreciated than Ewoks and Gungans, and more difficult to imagine repaying than a debt to a certain Hutt by a certain Corellian Rebel General/rogue/scoundrel/friend of a wookiee. So to all of the FISD moms - members, supporters, and parents alike, thank you and enjoy your day!
  4. LoL @Walt. However, I'd personally be excited by a new, approved armor maker being available to the community. It would be another option, which would/could theoretically reduce wait times a bit for people. I believe that based on what we've seen of your helmet sculpt, you could become that new armorer, and there'd be no need or reason to recast anything.
  5. Idle hands are the devil's workshop... I believe that Vern is perfectly safe based on his FISD workload alone! Sounds awesome though. I'm anxiously excited and terrified about my armor's imminent shipping. LoL
  6. Looking forward to the pics, Derek. As for painting vs. assembling first, I'd say that if/when I do another build, I'll keep the cylinders and the magazine off and paint them separately before assembly. I think that I'd paint the grip itself after a base coat and masking so that I could gloss it up after it is assembled without any real difficulty. I'm doing my trigger group painting (the silver areas) after the blaster's basic color has been finished. I'll paint the trigger and trigger guard prior to assembly. The annoying ones in my mind, are the two that I previously mentioned (cylinders and magazine) and the magazine release button (right behind the cylinders).
  7. Good looking out, Steve. Thanks!
  8. Looking phenomenal, Aaron!! Nice work.
  9. Heh... Yeah... This is going to eat a lot of "downtime." I see this already. LoL
  10. Congratulations, Jeff!! Great looking build - but you know that already, you're EIB
  11. Oh, and the added benefits of having a big city to troop around, instead of being no less than three hours from 90% of the troops will be nice, too!!
  12. Aaron - Not yet, but I have received Assignment Instructions, and it is showing up everywhere in my official files now, I've got an email from my assignments manager confirming it. At this point in time, I'm training up my interim replacement (because in true military fashion, my replacement won't arrive until I'm gone) and awaiting those orders. Brian, I'm a pro at moving around. LoL Last time was from Seattle to Southeast Alabama, before that was Chicago to Seattle. The little guy will be maybe a month to a month and a half old when we hit the road, depending on when he arrives so that is going to suck, but I'm really excited about getting there and being back in a big city again. Near an NHL team so I can see my Blackhawks play from time to time, and I'll definitely be picking your brain, inviting you over and all that good stuff at some point after we get there. Aaron got it right... That coping saw is serious commitment. LoL
  13. I've been silently watching this for a little while. Looks like you're getting ready to pull some ABS! Very exciting. I'm living vicariously through this for the moment, because I won't dare try anything like this until I'm retired and stop moving all around the country/world. LoL
  14. Oh wow... I may actually tell my dad to buy me some iTunes giftcards the next time he asks me what kind of cards we need! This looks freaking awesome. Thanks for sharing Brian.
  15. Greetings Jess, and welcome to the FISD!!! You've already got some great advice, and I can't think of anything else that I'd tell you at this stage except the following: This is not an overnight sensation sort of hobby. Collecting parts and enduring wait-lists is the nature of the beast. Use that time to read and research everything you could need to know about which armor to buy, how to build it, and then finally - how to properly dirty it up! Good luck!
  16. Never mind... For some reason, they are here now. LoL Off to a great start. Brother!! Oh, I received official notification - Fort Worth it is. No later than 10 October.
  17. Might just be me, but I don't see any photos. For what it's worth, the narrative is compelling. I really do WANT to see it.
  18. Yeah... No joke, stop animation Star Wars.... Incredible.
