Best TK chatter for helmet.
Dark CMF replied to RLH2515's topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
I'm not sure if you're asking about the static bursts when you stop talking, or what we refer to as TK chatter, which is a continuous loop of background noise that plays in the background while you're trooping. -

Here is the count in the Legion as of right now. Just pulled these from the Costume DB.

Okay, we managed to get a few people together (you may even recognize one of them) for a photo.

TK-88406 Reports as Ordered
Dark CMF replied to bpresson's topic in Newly Approved Members - Sound Off!
Nothing at all silly about it, Brian. In fact, I'd question anyone over the age of 45 that isn't a fan boy where Star Wars is concerned. It was just such a huge part of the global cultural environment in the late 70s. Thank you for taking the time to sound off! We're happy to have you - and we'd be equally happy to have you join us in the EIB and Centurion ranks. -

Unless something has changed, the gaskets and armor are one size fits all, and the plastic can be trimmed down a bit to size if necessary.

TK-52780 sounding off!
Dark CMF replied to Darth Blake's topic in Newly Approved Members - Sound Off!
Congratulations, ya big lug! It is great to see this day finally come for you, Blake. You were here when I got started, and now here we are! I am proud to call you a fellow Stormtrooper and a friend. -
Both of those helmets are the ANOVOS standard line, injection molded helmets. It typically sells for between $180 and $250 from ANOVOS. The ANOVOS Premier line helmet is made of Fiberglas and runs about $600 if you buy it from them. The ANOVOS helmets are approvable. They're pretty much the only ones in the Legion today, but others are starting to appear as well.

Well, Peter (FN Armor) has been answering questions here and if I lock it, he is unable to do so. That's not fair to him to allow his accuser to say what he will and not allow him a forum to respond. They will simply have to learn to post comments like grown-ups, or post elsewhere. Sent from my SM-G386T using Tapatalk

I'm not going to lock this thread, as I'm done doing that over this situation. The next person - member or not - who decides it is prudent to resort to name calling (or other asinine behavior) in this (or any other) thread to make their point will not be reading anything that anyone has to say here for awhile. If it wasn't clear in my last post in this thread, it should be now. Behave, or be suspended.

Excellent work, as always, team! Truly impressive.

Okay. Here we go. Again. I'm going to spell this out as simply as I can think to do so. I don't believe for a moment that Kevin recast anything. Did he copy an IP? Yes. So what, we need armorers in order for people to dress up like plastic spacemen and plastic spacewomen and make people smile while doing so. I'm not skilled enough to copy things like that, but I can understand, and appreciate the difference between copying something, and recasting something. Kevin did exactly what we ask beyond a shadow of a doubt - he showed molds in progress, sculpted molds in MDF - in sharing his pictures. So as far as I'm concerned, enough is enough on that front. Kevin didn't recast things. I'm done with that discussion. The verdict is still out on FN Armor, whether Kevin likes that or not. Period. I can tell you a few things with certainty these days. My four year old will be the first person awake in the house. The sun will rise in the east and set in the west. My income is going to have taxes taken out of it before I receive it. If FN Armor makes a post anywhere on the internet about their armor kits, Kevin will show up and accuse them of recasting his kit. I know these things to be truthful without fail. I find it slightly hard to believe that you haven't tired of it, Kevin. Believe me, the community has. I'm not an armor maker, but I know that if I were, I'd be more concerned about my business than that of my competitor(s) - even though I can understand the concerns about the apparent and alleged theft of your work. I don't begrudge you that concern. Not for a moment. I understand it and I don't blame you one bit for it. I do feel that you're hurting yourself more than you're hurting FN at this point in time with your behavior here at FISD, and that isn't how this should work. You're a member of the Legion, you automatically get the benefit of the doubt when you present a product for sale. You're hurting your brand. Believe me. I'm publicly asking you to take it down a notch, and consider what others here in this thread and the two or three others that have been locked (primarily due to your behavior in them) have said about that behavior. You're not doing yourself any favors, and you're generating a lot of sympathy for FN Armor in the process. You're driving the buyers to them. I'm sure they appreciate it. As the saying goes, there's no such thing as bad press. There are (allegedly) going to be several kits sent to members to conduct analysis. For the time being, I'm good with that happening and it is far better than continuing to see this circular diatribe happen yet again here at the FISD. This constant witch-hunt detracts from the Detachment and its mission and I'm done tolerating it. The staff is done tolerating it. By and large, the community appears to be done tolerating it. I'm asking you right now Kevin, to re-focus your efforts here. Keep updating your flametrooper thread. We're all excited to see that, even if it isn't going to be an FISD costume. We do love to see these things come to life after all. I'm asking everyone else to be aware of the situation here and be patient. If the kits don't show up, and no analysis can be made, then we'll go from there. If they do, we'll see what our experts have to say about the kits and that information will be shared with the community, I'm sure. So, let's stop talking about FN Armor and its suspected origins, and talk about helping people build awesome Stormtroopers to put awesome smiles on people's faces. That's what we do here.

First Order Stormtrooper Challenge Coin Giveaway

Absolutely Mike. I often forget about Shades of Green, because we typically stay in resort properties when we go there. We've stayed at SoG in the past, when it provided free parking and Extra Magic Hours at the parks. I'm mostly positive that staying there no longer allows you to get free parking at the resorts, and I'm not certain about the Extra Magic Hours. It does charge based on your rank though, without question, and as hotel rates go, it's pretty reasonable.

ANH TK bracket system
Dark CMF replied to CrookKnight's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
I use a paint marker sometimes. High gloss white nail polish other times. Just occasionally touch them up as needed. -
The site simply does not play as well with mobile devices in particular. We're also currently in between web-masters so I'm not sure that much can be done about it right now, unfortunately.
-
Premier line refers to the helmet. And, perhaps the inclusion of boots.
-
Given the quality and price of currently available FOTK kits, this is not bad, really. Especially as others have mentioned, since it includes the boots, gloves, gaskets, etc... I actually expected it to be a little more expensive than it is, at launch.
-
For all of you who have been waiting for the date that you can preorder the FOTK armor kit, that day is today. Brace your wallets. Especially if you're afraid to build it yourself. .

http://www.anovos.com/collections/star-wars-the-force-awakens/products/star-wars-the-force-awakens-first-order-stormtrooper-kit-with-helmet-pre-order

I would be remiss if I were to let this day go by without sharing something that I heard from a not so little bird earlier. What I heard is that today is Steve Gaza's birthday. Some of you may not be familiar with him, but Gaz (Gazmosis here at FISD) is a former Deployment Officer and overall helpful and awesome guy extraordinaire. He was the first person to greet me here when I joined the Detachment forums a few years back and he awarded me both my EIB and Centurion awards. He set the tone for me and my relationship with the Detachment, and I'm forever indebted to him for what he helped me to realize and achieve with his warm welcome and un-defeatable spirit of Troopers Helping Troopers! His presence here may be less consistent than it once was, but his influence and impact endure and even grow here every day. Thank you Steve, for everything, and I offer my best wishes to you that today will be spent surrounded by friends and loved ones in celebration of you. Happy Birthday, brother!!

You can fly with the armor pretty easily. I flew mine down to Orlando and back for Star Wars Weekends at Disney World last year without issue.
-
There has been one at the recent ones. Can't imagine why not!

I fully intended on buying one, but yeah... Ticket purchase window opened at like 2:11, and they were already gone. I'm guessing they only sold two or three hundred of them.
