Hmm...well I ordered my first kit from RT pre trimmed because I didn't trust my skills but after more research it sounds possible. Lol I think my next one I will start from scratch like this. Sounds kind of fun (minus the having to reorder a piece due to accidents). Can't wait to start the process though! Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

Armor, gear, gas/expenses may be tax deductible!
TK-42779 replied to Hemostat1976's topic in Off Topic
Alright brothers and sisters, direct from one of the head honchos that I emailed: " The discussion about tax deductions for charity and possible write off's seems to differ from State to State (and sometime CPA to CPA). There are members who write off a certain percentage of mileage to and from events, meal costs, costume costs, etc., as allowed by state or federal Law. This requires a very detailed receipts keeping process to ensure you are covered. Please check with your local CPA to determine if there are any options available to you. Okay so after talking to a local CPA in great detail the issue starts with a simple yes or no question: Is the 501st registered with the IRS as a 501c3 organization? Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2 -

Actually now I am intrigued, I am going to talk to a customer of mine who is a CPA. I will share whatever information he gives me with everyone. -

I'm pretty sure the side gap doesn't keep you out of Centurion. I've seen either threads where a couple veterans have said that the guideline states that "ideally" there shouldn't be a gap but it won't kill the Centurion level. Am I wrong guys? Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

Was there anything in particular that kept you from going Centurion? Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

TK-8646 Requesting ANH Stunt Centurion Status [RS*][58]
TK-42779 replied to Desert's topic in Request Centurion Status
Looks awesome. I am going to build for Centurion standards right off the bat when my kit arrives from RT. Nice to see the Hyperfirm with the decals on, did you get those from Trooperbay? I have a Hyperfirm as well and debated getting the decals. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2 -
Before I ordered my RT from Rob I fired question after question at him about his kit, comparing it to threads I have seen where people are critiquing his work. I placed my order and since then have been studying the costume guidelines for Centurion and have swamped his email with questions to prepare myself for my kit's arrival. Apparently there are only two things that need to be done to the helmet to make it Centurion: Need to replace the "u trim" with "s trim" and either hand paint the details or buy the hand painted looking decals. Too me the helmet was my biggest concern with never having touched this kind of crafting before but those seem like easy fixes. Getting the rest of the armor to Centurion may be more difficult.. but it doesn't seem to be unattainable without some homework. My biggest fear is getting snap plates placed in the right areas the first time and not having to fit and refit over and over. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

As an American who doesn't get out of the country it was cool to see something like that on another language besides the usual Spanish versions. Thanks again! I tried the gloves on last night with my body suit and my neck seal from Darman. Lol Not suite a Stormtrooper yet! Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2 -

So once you mod your suit to Centurion standards your application to EIB is a formality then? Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2 -

So...what do you mean you have to do EIB first? If you mod your kit to Centurion standards right off the bat don't you qualify for both? Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2 -
There isn't a single Centurion in my Garrison so I am going to gun for that as soon as I get my kit from Rob. : ) Without a doubt going to be EIB level at minimum. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

Not to knock the 70th Explorers but there isn't a whole lot of action going on in our group. Lol I can only assume that's why nobody has bothered to upgrade, they don't troop nearly as much as the rest of the country. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2 -

Actually I was informed that there are ZERO Centurions in the area so my plan I think is to go for that right off the bat but yes at minimum EIB. : ) Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2 -
Well....I am super excited to say that after a long wait (apparently the US likes to take its time with incoming foreign land packages) I received my package from Karin! : ) I also especially liked the inner package lining. : ) I ordered them pre-glued from her. Thanks for dealing with my many emails in anticipation of these arriving, Karin! I love them! Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

I wanted to add to this thread and just say that my email dealings with Rob were one of my first steps in getting into this project a couple months ago. Like many others I asked him SO many questions and he answered every single one of them and was very cool about it. He made forking over hard earned cash for a venture that I have no experience in comfortable and exciting. I am still about a little over a month away from him completing my kit and sheesh am I anxious! Thanks so much for helping a noob, Rob. I will be guiding other noobs your way every chance I get, sir. Can't wait to show off your work. ([email protected]) Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

I still have a month for my armor, I want my TKID so bad that I bought a Crewman costume to get membership and begin helping at troops. Lol Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

You've got the right ones that I have ordered. I haven't trooped in them yet but after trying them on I am sure they will work as great as everyone has said. As far as the crew neck vs. mock neck? I am sure that it's just a personal preference. Your neck seal will (should?) have a bib on it from the research I have found so a crew neck being lower shouldn't be an issue. Maybe someone will disagree?
