  1. Just on the paint try to get the lines as straight as possible or they will show how wobbley they are once you apply the grey. My teeth had been sanded I just haven't polished them as yet, they did need a sand, even once I pushed the teeth out you are still left with some uneven sections and they can bee seen, if I was you I would sand even thought they will be partly painted.
  2. Looking good, you have much steadier hands than I, nice work
  3. And tip don't get fingers caught between magnets lol
  4. Some do have gaps but to get rid of the gap you really need to bring the faceplate forward, or you could tilt the faceplate but then you would get a more highbrow look. If it was me I would bring the whole faceplate forward
  5. Yes correct some use that method of a tooth pick, all you are really doing is trying not to scratch the abs, most of the time you will need a little bit of sanding. Good luck
  6. I would use the 10mm strips on the inside it will be strong enough as it is just for extra strength, you don't really need them and some don't even add them.
  7. Sorry had to but my hero lid build on hold as I have had so many side project, jawa's mainly, imperial binders and code cylinders. Anyway if you are gentle with the heat iron you can get most of the extra teeth to push through, once you have done this it is just a matter of using wet and dry sandpaper with soapy water and gently sand the area along the section of teeth that you want to get smooth. Once you are happy with this you will need to sand in finer grades of wet and dry until you end up using 1200 grit paper, when you are happy you can then use an automotive cutting compound to really make the teeth shine. After you are happy clean all the teeth area with warm soapy water so no greasy film reamains, let dry then paint the other teeth. This is as far as I have gotten so far, I am really happy with the results.
  8. Not as yet I have had so many side projects on the go, Jawa's mainly, imperial binders and code cylinders, so my hero lid had to go to the back of the line LOL. Hope to get back on to this soon
  9. There are a few ways to remove paint, some use a toothpick, some a knife blade and some wet and dry sandpaper but you will have to go in stages from course to fine then polish to get the shine back again. I use small hand files on the corners of my teeth worked well for me. Keep up the good work, you will be finished in not time
  10. Looking good so far, I would try to square the corners of your teeth a little, but apart from that you are going great guns
  11. Leaps and bounds Mark, looking good, won't be long until we see some application photos
  12. Looking much better, as I said earlier you could see the shoulder straps where off. Should be a walk in the park now. I did use an adjustable strapping system on both the front and back plates, was much easier to adjust rather than having to make new straps each time.
  13. Looking good nice work there
  14. LOL love the photo, can't wait to see your armor build thread
  15. I used a dremmel for all my trimming, if you take care it can save some time . Congrats on the first cut, now it's all down hill from now
  16. Just a couple of things to check, your shoulder straps seem from the front not positioned in the same places, also one is curved and the other has bent and flat sections. Rear shot looks like you have the right shoulder strap further down your shoulder. Do you have elastic attached form the back plate to the kidney plate. I used elastic and adjusters on both the front and rear of my armor which made it easier to adjust.
  17. Congrats, yes I remember being excited then the panic set in lol. Just take your time, try small pieces first, by the end ot the build you will be thinking what was all the worry about. There are excelent builds to follow and plenty of people to help. Good luck on the build, now start cutting
  18. Good luck with the build, can't wait to see more
  19. Moving along nicely can't wait to see the rest of the build, good luck with it
  20. I had a one screw on the bottom sides of the helmet and pulled the brow up then marked the top side holes, drilled, put in a screw and that kept it in place, they can be a bit stubborn.
  21. Looking good, nice work on the ears, I agree just move up the brow a little and you are just about done. Tip on using the Humbrol paint is very thin coats if you go too thick the paint will tend to wrinkle when it is drying. Slow and steady wins the race LOL. Going well won't be long now
  22. Mine didn't seem curved in on the teeth but I have an ATA lid, side views look ok. You have done a nice job on the corners, most leave them quite rounded at first. Wait to you get to the ears, I would say they are the worse pieces on all the armor build.
  23. Ahh yes the excitement and the pain of waiting for the big brown box, even worse when you have to wait the weeked too lol
  24. Can't wait to see the build thread, good luck with the build, have you thought of building to EIB or Centurion requirements, really not a lot more work just do a few more details and you are there. Have a look through some of the build threads and don't forget to check out the CRL's as there was some updates to them recently. Again good luck with the build, we are here if you need help
  25. Your right forearm could come up a bit, also its a bit hard with the small picture to see, but I think your tube stripes are a bit too low, there should only be a pencil width between them and side of lid. The rivet for the ammo knee should be at the top and roughly 10mm in from the side and the same down from the top. Brackets on your TD could be closer to the end caps. Also the blue on your lid and ab buttons seem really dark in the photo's. Apart from the above you are looking good, well done so far.
