  1. When I would get stuck on things, I would reference the EIB and Centurion submission pics and look for someone using the same type of armor, and similar body type. That will give you great references.. There are a lot of very, very well done kits in there, with some great pictures to use as references.
  2. Congratulations on your approval Gary! I look forward to seeing more of the McQ concept characters coming to life!
  3. I guess my point is that the EU and all of the approved costumes that do not appear in a movie have storylines and actual characters for them. These costumes were concept art, for the original trilogy. They were evolved into what we know as the stormtroopers and other characters. So they never actually appeared in a movie, tv show, comic, video game, book, etc, in this form. I'm not saying that they should or shouldn't be, that isn't for me to decide. Of course, I know that there is much more data about the McQuarrie versions, including Hasbro and Gentle Giant reference material, but again, all of that is derived from this "concept" art, and not actual characters. I'm not saying that I'm right, or wrong, this is strictly my opinion. I could live with them being in or out, I guess the reason that I brought it up in the first place was to get people's opinions on why they think that they should or should not be approved as Legion costumes. Side note, I don't want anyone to confuse what I am saying with me poo-poo-ing on the amazing craftsmanship and work that went into the design and assembly of these costumes. I think that they are amazing, and everyone did a fantastic job with them. I know how much hard work goes into this stuff, and I don't want anyone to think that I am saying anything negative about the armor, work that went into the design, or anyone who chooses to wear the armor.
  4. Agreed Gary, you make some great points.. I hadn't thought of the comparison to the EU.
  5. Ok, without being flamed too much, I am curious as to why we think that these "concept" suits are approvable for the Legion? They were just "concept", right, and only appeared in his artwork... I am not an expert in this, so I am not trying to be negative, simply curious. Thoughts? Oh, I forgot to add that I think they are spectacular and look just like the artwork.. It is amazing work!
  6. I just alerted Andy about this, as TK-51110 was his wife who passed. He told me to let you all know that he has nothing to do with it, and that he was alerting eBay to have it taken down.
  7. I was recently approved and had my heart set on 10651 from the start. My father introduced me to Star Wars, and I have amazing memories of he and I watching the movies together. He passed from cancer at a much to early age, and I chose my TK number to honor him. His birth date was Oct 6, 1951, hence I chose 10651.
  8. Hello! Requesting 501st access! TK-10651 Midwest Garrison http://www.501st.com/members/displaymemberdetails.php?userID=15311 Thanks, Steve
  9. This is the spray I use on my hockey visor. While, I haven't finished my helmet yet, I would imagine that it would work on bucket eyes as well.. http://www.totalhockey.com/product/No_Foggn_Way_Anti_Fog_Spray/itm/2977-2/
  10. If I was building something like this, I would try to find a good picture of Han and Chewie running away in the death star and make that what I see. Or the Falcon escaping from Cloud City, or Ewoks. Just my thoughts.......
  11. Wow. What a major difference on those mic tips. Great job on those..! As a supporter, I am greatly anticipating seeing the final kit, and a happy little girl wearing it!
  12. Love this idea, and I have a question. The kits that you are making, will they just be for the hearing portion i.e. the two mics, the two earpieces in foam and the amp boards? Basically, I am interested in knowing what is available in the kit.
  13. Made my donation to the cause today. Happy to see this being done for her. Very deserving little girl!
  14. That's what I figured, I just wanted to throw my two cents in that I am going to be there.
  15. I am also booked for C6, even though my TK has not been completed or approved yet, I am hoping to have it done and approved by then. I cannot access any of the links that you posted, I think because I am not an approved 501st member yet.
  16. The only thing I know about Calgary is that they give my Blackhawks the fits when they come up there!
  17. Growing up playing hockey, we had this same problem with our eye visors. There is a nice product on the market that keeps hockey visors from fogging up. Not sure if it will work on the trooper helmets, but I am planning on trying it when I get mine built. ---------- Steve
  18. I have a question about ESB helmets vs ANH helmets.. I noticed on a lot of them, from the eyes down looks more angled on the ANH helmet, but more straight down on the ESB helmets that I have seen? Is that required, or is that just based on where you get your helmet kit from?
  19. Just as an update, I tried to order boots yesterday and I received a refund almost immediately to my Paypal account with an email explaining that they are currently out of stock on sizes 9-12. They expect to have more in about 5 weeks. Bummer......
