As Jar-Jar Binks once said, "How Rude!"

Yeah, I totally get it. Especially in major cities etc. I was saying to another person on this forum that I bet 100's of people sign up and only 1% or less actually do something about it other than troll the forums. So it's a tough job. I don't envy the administration of it all. -

Well since there's been an influx of newbie troopers from Ontario, Canada joining FISD. We've decided to start a mailing list so we can all stay connected and help each other through the TK process. Malarky if you're interested in our list please send me your email via message here. Cheers bro! You're not alone. -

My question was really just in general, but I did get the "You need to be a TK to join the CG." line which to me is kind of weird since if a person didn't know about FISD. How would one become a TK? I like how the Rebel Legion CG does it. They have designated people to help future recruits etc which is REALLy good. -

Lucas, so what happens in a case where the TK just doesn't get a long with the local Garrison for whatever reason. Is he then screwed from joining the 501st? -

LOL btw, Major is my forum title (just from number of posts... Anywho - on the flip side the Indiana Garrison (Bloodfins) have been the total opposite, their forums are public and even I've posted in their Garrison etc. lots of great people on there. We're trying to arrange something for GenCon this year in Indy when I'm down in the states. Btw the 4 soon-to-be TKs on here are thinking of throwing a "newbie" armour party once we've all got our kits. Where abouts are you from again? -

FYI - Roy is the CO of the Canadian Garrison. Different garrisons have let's say....different approaches to recruits. I had that discussion with Roy. I want to give him the benefit of a doubt here that he probably gets a hundred requests a day. I agree with you though, that's not the right way to treat recruits because I was also taken aback by the responsea and he didn't tell me that FISD would be a good place to start or explain the application process. I found that out from other TK's. That being said, I did meet a TK from the CG (TKkenny here I believe) and the meeting was really good at Toronto Comic Con. Also the Rebel Legion folks for the Canadian Garrison are very open (www.rebellegion.com forums) ... especially Jedi Doug and miqt from the forums whose main role is to get newbies started and help them source costumes. In fact miqt is making a part of my sister's costume for her. I wouldn't sweat it bro, there's 4 soon-to-be TK's from the GTA alone on FISD right now... if you're around here (sorry I can't remember if you are or not)... we'll be happy to troop with you once we've all got our kits together. -
Cosplayers are pretty much costumers (like us) that act out scenes from their shows. I supposed if all of us acted out the opening boarding scene in ANH and did it line by line - we'd be cosplayers. But since the majority of us don't costume for that reason, we're more costumers.

Joining the Darkside: AP Armour ordered!

Hell yeahs! Remember pictures!!! -
Hi Ingrid, there's a guy on the Rebel Legion forums selling the ABS SWTOR Sith Armor kit right now (if you're interested let me know, it's here http://www.rebellegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=37261). I can't justify it just yet but I'm thinking Ultrasabers and Sith Armor would be awesome... just don't tell the wife!
-
CustomProps Sith Apprentice costume looks pretty cool. On a side note, I wonder when the Sith Armor from SWTOR will become canon.

That is strange that PP has not transferred. Does your listing in your purchase history say something like "Sale date ..."

I'm sure everyone heard this story before. So ... starting a TK from the beginning and getting everything you need is pretty tough. Helping a family member build a Rebel costume is also a lot of work. That being said, out of 36 transactions so far... and only 1 transaction from an unvetted seller (I don't really consider Doopys an ebay seller because they have a great rep) on ebay... and it's the ONLY parcel that seems to have gotten lost in the mail. 1 for 1. Fortunately, it was a pair of low grade nomex gloves and it sucks but not a huge hit to the wallet. Moral of the story - ebay stinks, buy from reputable makers in FISD or RL. Thanks for listening to my rant!

tk.com - Help please
bigironvault replied to woolywade's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Very comfortable - if they weren't so disco-y outside a trooper I'd wear them day to day. -
I've been looking around the forums and really trying to avoid ebay. Can anyone recommend a good place to get some imperial binders?

ANH E-11 Blaster (Doopy Doo's and Hasbro)

Ah finally got some time to work on the E-11 today. Everything done except the spring... have to find a nice piece of wire! -
Need some advise on morals right now.
bigironvault replied to Arnie_DK's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I think if it is to someone outside the legion or has no interest in being part of the legion, then you have every right to get what you feel is market value for it. -
Yes, I did quite a bit of research on it. Fully assembled replicas or anything that looks like a gun will likely not make it across the Canadian border and may blacklist you as well (ie. They will check all your parcels). We have very strict and some may argue strange gun laws. On the flip side, if you buy the full resin kit (not the Hasbro conversion one, unless you have a Hasbro E-11 blaster) you will be okay because it comes in pieces. Assembling it yourself is NOT hard and there's tons of folks here including myself that would be glad to help out.

Acutally the resin Doopys if folks have the time would not take more than two days to do honestly but, us married with children types, free time is pretty difficult to come by. I have all the materials to paint my blaster but haven't found the time between work, a newborn, and house renos. But happy wife = happy life. Charles if I had my kit I would gladly show up at your kid's birthday for a fellow Canadian trooper. And about that ANH Leia... I tried that too. She's pretty negatory on it (we're very different in our interests...) but the other day she started wearing braids in her hair. So I think I have something I can leverage! -
I finally saw it today and it was a fantastic piece. Really well done. I'm even more excited to join my brothers in armour.... Speaking of Heart of an Empire... can a soon-to-be TK find out how to get it in Canada? Seems impossible.
