  1. I agree, ammo knee needs to be trimmed correctly. I trimmed mine to creat a more accurate look. Minor thing, but other wise looking good!
  2. From one Hero to another, job WELL done! Looks great. I can't find anything to improve. Safe to say Centurian is next for you!
  3. Looking good. It is nice when the paint goes on nicely the FIRST time!
  4. Looks good Tim. Here are a few minor things I noticed: Can you pull in the left shoulder a bit? The gap in the first picture is much bigger than the right Scuff up your boots a bit, as they look like they just came out of the box Are you wearing liners underneath the gloves? If you do it will help with your hands not sweating as much as those goves do not breath at all. It will also fill in the gloves so they do not look as baggy The knee ammo plate. The bottom curve should be more pronounced. Here are some pics. The first one is from RS, cutting a template directly from his screen used suit. http://forum.whitear...mo&fromsearch=1 And mine
  5. This specific placement doesn't effect comfort at all and offers great reception. I don't even notice it is there. If one has a smaller head than I do, you can place it higher. I have a long neck, so it is the best for me. It is still inside the helmet, so can't really be seen, gets lost in the blackness of the helmet. For someone shorter than you they might see the red light, but you can always cover that up if you wish. I find it a nice added element.
  6. I have the Akers, ICom and Memorex wireless mic. However I could never get the wireless to perform properly, it would always cut out. It was driving me crazy, so much so I decided not to use the wireless. But then I couldn’t deal with the cable, so I took another look at it, figuring it is just placement. After some tinkering, I got it to work perfectly. Now it doesn’t drop out at all! I have heard of other placing the transmitter in the very top of their helmet and the receiver in their back plate. So my question is for those that are successfully using the wireless how you have yours installed. Pictures would be awesome as I know there are many who own one but have not installed it due to the same frustrations I ran into. ----------
  7. When I did Vader I had the Master Relicas Helmet and it was a sweatbox as it is COMPLETELY enclosed my entire head and neck. Having a couple fans in there made actually kept me cool. If you keep your head cool, it works its way down. UA is for sure the way to go. Like Ryan said, even the slightest breeze or air blowing it, you can instantly feel it and it can cool you down nicely. Good Luck!
  8. Way to go Julie! Always nice hearing from you!
  9. If you have feedback it is because your mic is picking up the sound coming out of the speaker. First thing to do would be turn down the volume on the speaker. That is the biggest cause of feedback.Your placement of the parts might be off as well. Check my post as I just succesfully installed the whole sytstem, including the wireless.
  10. Enjoy! Feel free to ask any questions and go through other build threads as they are a wealth of information
  11. Thanks! As this will be my only costume for a few years, I might as well do it right! Nice to find you on FISD. I have had a few ask about your belt so I now know where to send them! Plus when I apply for EIB I can give you proper credit
  12. While waiting for it to come in, do your homework, read tons of build threads
  13. In the end is is all about what works for you, the look you want. As said above, it would pass 501st, no problem, but wont go anywhere further than that, EIB, etc. Which is perfectly fine, if that is what you would like. Fans will see you as a stormtrooper either way, it all comes down to the look that you want. And you sound like you know what you want, so go for it, and enjoy it! I will be applying for EIB in the next few weeks, but I won`t be applying for Centurian, even though it is only two modifications away. But for me I don`t want the hand painted look on my helmet, I like the perfect looking stickers. I`m going for the idealized TK look as opposed to the film accurate look. I also prefer the Novex w/plastic guard as opposed to plastic gloves/latex guard. It is all about what YOU want. You can always change it later
  14. Hey Darrel, I just successfully installed mine. It took me a while because I could never get the wireless to perform properly, it would always cut out. It was driving me crazy, so much so I decided not to use it. But then I couldn’t deal with my helmet having a leash, so I took another look at it, figuring it is just placement. After some tinkering, I got it to work perfectly. It doesn’t drop out at all! The trick to placing the transmiter in the helmet was at the very back and low. It doesn't interfere with putting the helmet on at all. The antenna on the reciever has to be pulled out. I found this the best positioning for both the items. Give it a try and let me know if it works for you as well. I know others have been frustrated with it as well. -----------
  15. So I did some more work on my sound system. I have the Akers, ICom and Memorex wireless mic. However I could never get the wireless to perform properly, it would always cut out. It was driving me crazy so much so I decided not to use the wireless. But then I couldn’t deal with the leash, so I took another look at it, figuring it is just placement. After some tinkering, I got it to work perfectly. It doesn’t drop out at all!
  16. Thanks Jim, great tip! Do you prefer the random bursts or do you have a favorite?
  17. Great info, seems so far VOX rules. Do you prefer random bursts, or do you have a favorite you use?
  18. Question is for those who use the Aker and I-Com combo. Do you use the push to talk (PTT) or voice activation (VOX) and why? Random bursts, or do you have a favorite you use? This would be great info for newbies. Please share your preference and experience. Thanks!
  19. James, where do you have the wireless receiver? Chest or back plate? I have mine in the chest but having a real challenge with reception cutting out. Thinking about moving it to my back so I can extend the antenna a bit. What is your experience? Thanks!
  20. Those hero eyes (and ears) you bought from John are great. I use them in mine, and I can see! What a concept! Geat detail on your build! Keep it up!
