  1. For the boots you'll want to cover a lot. Put a boot on and bend your foot and wipe off around the area where it bunches up. It'll give a more accurate look where sand/dirt would actually collect. Remember, sand/dirt is going to mostly collect in the low areas. Don't forget to do the same for the heel section. The toe area of any boots get scuffed up the most so go light there.
  2. I paid more than $650 (the current price for this kit) for my kit. Let alone all the other extras I had to get.... and larger AM2.0 thighs/shins.... I probably could have bought two of these kits easily by now. I don't think it's a bad looking kit. For those who like the idealized troopers, this will be perfect. Personally, I wish I would have just spent the extra from the get-go and went with RS.
  3. If you get those pouches I linked to, you won't have to make any changes to them other than weathering. They are built for SWAT. The "look sir, droids!" character doesn't have an E-11 but I had to get one anyways... now I have to get the Bapty version if I want to go SWAT eventually.
  4. You did a fantastic job on those thigh shims, I can hardly tell in the before and you can't at all with the well placed weathering. Great job! I know how you feel about wanting to take a break. Besides the wife and kids, that's the main reason it's taking me so long to complete mine. Just get burnt out after making change #10000.
  5. I'm impressed with the level of detail on that pauldron. I work an alternate work schedule so Tuesday night and Wednesday will be non-stop Battlefront.
  6. Taylor, get your pouches from here http://forum.mepd.net/index.php?showtopic=10805&st=0 I think he's doing a final run for the holidays now but they are the best quality.
  7. My GML told me to up the weathering on mine. I'm doing a few things I notice that bug me with bondo. We will both be in the sand dunes soon!
  8. Well if your husband already plans on getting a pack, you could always wear his for the photos to for PO status. Weathering looks great and definitely doesn't look overly orange in real lighting.
  9. I believe the one with the squares cut or pressed into it is no longer accepted. Use the one that just has the little dimples that are there for drill locations.
  10. Looking awesome. Raise the belt a tad and you're there. Those socks are totally Empire issued
  11. I'd like to remain positive and optimistic. I really want a TFA Tie pilot
  12. If ANOVOS was the only way to get a TK/TD/etc. and there were no more vetted builders, I couldn't afford buying a kit at their full retail price. Personally, I hope some of our vetted builders get the opportunity to make some TFA armor here soon.
  13. I didn't have my torso section on all the way in that picture. I might be able to shorten front to back a little but not by much. I'll shorten the shoulder to strap tonight and will probably have to re-position the shoulder bell to bicep strap too.
  14. As long as you don't clear coat it, you could always go back and make changes if you decide to go that route. I'm just aiming for basic approval first too. Sandtroopers have so much more things you have to buy or make.
  15. Here's a question I haven't seen asked before.... Since I'm doing a sandtrooper and we don't use the shoulder bridges to cover the elastic, is the shoulder straps suppose to look like this when worn? I know I need to shorten the length so the top of the shoulder bell comes flush but it's pulling.
  16. Looks awesome! They may request some natural lighting pictures as well. Normal house light bulbs will make it look more orange than it probably is in real life.
  17. You could always order some extra sheets from trooperbay or ask your kit maker if he will sell you more. I would try to stick with your kit's maker for cover strips since it'll match the plastic. Trooperbay if you need more for inner strips for strength.
  18. Awesome work! It'll really pop when you add the other colors. Can you take a picture outside in natural lighting?
  19. Looks awesome! Might want to think about some foam if that sniper plate is catching the thigh.
  20. Most seem to start with the arms. Best of luck and congrats on BBB day!
  21. I should have clarified, use a belt sander or something flat for straight lines. Your best method to get straight lines is score and snapping. Dremel is great for remove some return edges, ears, things like that. I always follow up that with hand sanding with 100 grit and up.
  22. Tandy Line 24 are snaps you want if you're going snap plates for strapping. The other s snaps and what not can be found here: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/31920-ukswraths-am-10-ata-bucket-build/?p=411249
  23. If you don't have an ICOMM or something similar between the mic and the speaker you won't get the static breaks and distortion.
  24. Just get yourself a dremel with the sanding drum, the cutting attatchment, and various grit sandpaper. It is very intimidating at first but after a while it's not that big of a deal. Be prepared to be covered in plastic dust though.
