  1. Thanks guys for the info, thats a cool picture, The Laws helmets have been around much longer than I had imagined. One thing about this helmet, there are no thin spots and the mic tip area is the thickest part on the helmet.
  2. From Dan Laws via the bay
  3. Hi all, I have been working on this helmet and thought I would post pics, because, I love to look at anything anh. From what I have read this helmet was cast of the Dave M helmet and then cleaned up. Correct me if I am off. I saw FBJ's helmet build on star wars helmets site. I am going to try to paint it next week. I hear hdpe does not like paint.
  4. Hi Chris, You are the perfect size for any armor. RS and TM, being most accurate and costing more. I don't know why AP cost so much more than ATA, they are much alike and less accurate than RS and TM. I would go with RS or TM if your budget allows. As Glen said, all can be made level 3.
  5. Be sure to stir the paint good before applying. The paint should not be thick.
  6. That side looks fine to me.
  7. Mineral spirits won't work, it would be easier to start over again. No big deal, just clean them off with paint thinner and start again.
  8. Hi Troy, Get some paint thinner a cloth and paint will come right off. Repaint the stripes, but make sure the templet is in the right position and no air bubbles. I can tell from your pic that the templet was uneven.
  9. I thought so, this thread will be invaluable to TK builders. All the info in one place.
  10. Should the ANH canvas belt be about 76mm about 3 inches, the ROTJ belt was thinner.
  11. I troop with a CAP west helmet and have no problems. The details on the faceplate are sharp and really add to the look. The mic tip area needs reinforcing and thats about it.
  12. Hi Diana, Thats a great reference thread for smaller troopers, nothings better than a TM built suit, especially that one. As long as your buttons are showing, it should be fine. You can always fine tune it later.
  13. The elastic that holds the shoulder bridge down, can be found at the fabric store, I bought it by the foot. If they don't have it you could try the bay and save your fuel. Get a yard of it, so when you lose one you'll have a backup.
  14. No matter what armor you sport, shouldn't the belt be attached in this position. The majority of troopers if not all have it like this. There may have been some costume malfunctions in the movie where the belt was lower. The reason I mentioned that I was a taller trooper is because, I have seen a few builds where the belt is way to low, especially on the kidney piece. On my first build I had the belt to low. I have seen low belt somewhere.
  15. Looking good! I would definitely resize the left bicep as said above. The kidney piece looks upside down, the bottom edge is longer than the top. Just check this measurement to be sure. The armor will fit you better everything is lined up. I don't think any of this would keep you from EIB. Good luck!
  16. Yes, the kidney will fit better with the belt on. Looks good, trim a little, then more if needed. The trick is to keep the balance so the pieces don't look trimmed down. i know it's easier said than done.
  17. Try not to trim to much of the kidney, you may have to trim the bottom of the back piece a tiny bit. TM built a luke suit and I think he trimmed the bottom of the back piece a little. Look through this thread and check out the back piece. I just don't. want you to overtrim. Tape the armor together and keep checking the fit. You guys are coming along. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/20077-replica-tm-luke-suit-jorney/
  18. Yeah, the high you wear it, the better it will look, within reason of course. Also notice the trooper pictured above, the belt is actually higher in the back over the kidney piece. I'm taller trooper too and suit fits much better with the belt in the right position. Harrison Ford is 6'1" and wore it like this. This other shot shows some stunt troopers.
  19. Nice work! I would trim the teeth more square and trim the eyes out a bit more. The brow could be higher, but that's a personal preference.
  20. Ok, I didn't realize it had the ridges on the back. I have seen the helmet before, but from a different angle.
  21. How wide of a cover strip do you need? Trooperbay sells 2" wide strips and the shipping is very little.
  22. Nice find, always looking for help painting.
  23. His signature can't possibly fetch this much.. The brow trim looks like door seal on an old car. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Prototype-Stormtrooper-Helmet-From-the-First-Star-Wars-/201029755177?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ece4ea129
  24. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/10434-pandatroopers-am-build-threadam/ not sure if you had a look at this, could be very helpful in sizing the pieces .
  25. The kidney piece is really tall and you may have to trim it down a little, but I guess you won't know until the back piece is connected. Your mods are looking good, the pieces fit you well. Your not that short, with boots you'll be about 5' 8". Panda trooper trimmed armor down and it fit him perfectly, I'll look for the thread.
