  1. Yes, it's the coverstrips that hold the joint together.
  2. Nice armor! For level 3 you may have to ditch the velcro and close the thighs with a joining strip. Putting the thighs on first will keep you limber.
  3. Congrat's on your armor purchase. TD looks pretty close. Did you use the vodka to prep the boots.
  4. Thanks for the heads up David. Here is a little progress,
  5. Looks like a Dan Laws helmet. If it is, I would ask him for ABS ears.
  6. Wow, the Colosseum pic's are epic! Thanks for a great newsletter.
  7. Sweet! when you say plastified, do mean heating the plastic up. I may have tried something similar.
  8. Gaz, do you know the part # for correct size brow trim
  9. For level 2 you don't need rivets or snaps, but it is encouraged. If you want to go the accurate route, there are plenty of threads on this subject.
  10. The thigh pack looks good, but trim more of the edge of the boxes. The knee plate... I wouldn't trim anything off the thighs or cod until you strap more of the armor together. The thighs have a nice shape to them and shouldn't have to be trimmed unless you are really small.
  11. Helmet looks awesome, whats the armor made from. Bending the armor over itself, without creases or cracks is pretty cool.
  12. I have not seen this approach, most paint the armor first, after assembly of course.
  13. You can tell Lukes back piece tabs have been shortened considerably, so not to overlap.
  14. I used a heat gun to make the butt plate line up with the cod piece. This will also help with the butt piece hitting the top of the thighs, between the legs.
  15. What Vern said plus, Do not cut the cod to make it shorter. Don't trim the tops off the thighs. What's the make of your armor.
  16. The butt plate should just hang in place without too much tension on the crotch snap. I just clamped the rivet covers while the glue was drying, e6000 will give it some flex.
  17. Looks awesome! I hope mine comes out half as good.
  18. I am sorry that your white paint job didn't fair so well. Looks like it has a lot of texture to it.
  19. Trimming the inside of the forearm is encouraged, and much more comfortable. Your forearms look sized well from what I can tell.
  20. I used a heat gun on the butt plate tab, so it would not rub on the thighs between the legs and also to line up to the cod better.
  21. Good to know! These new paint cans have more high tech nozzles and really put down a coat, more like a real paint gun.
  22. You wear it well! The armor looks great against the sky, even better if the bicep was connected to the forearm.
  23. I used a similar paint+primer, the Valspar brand. I have never heard of this painting technique. From 2 feet away, I am surprised the coverage would be that good. Your helmet looks nice and shiny.
  24. Sounds like your wearing them to high. With arm bent, they should rest close to your forearm. This will be sorted out when you try everything on.
