  1. Yeah, really nice looking site man! I will register (and follow through) soon. EDIT: And one suggestion... don't use tables, but use style sheets and use an "overflow:hidden" property on the front page... that will keep the site from having a horizontal scroll bar on the bottom in FF on a Mac.
  2. No big deal... I'm still going to have to repaint my frown and stuff once I "touch up" my bumpy parts. It's just part of the process.
  3. Looking sooo good man! Fun stuff huh?!
  4. Doesn't sound strange at all... in fact, I love the way you said, "reclaim the numbers". You're choosing to represent them in a way that means something better than what "the world" told you to represent them as. In one way, you're looking through new "lenses" (figuratively and literally) when you don your armor... honoring your mom and seeing the world differently. Very cool.
  5. You'll do great... it's just one thing at a time, not everything at once.
  6. First off... fun topic, it's actually something I always ask when I meet people... and I think of it. Mine is 8541... in Arabic numerals it looks like it spells my name... "noEl" 8541 in Arabic = ٨٥٤١
  7. Looks familiar... Keep up the good work! It's just a process....
  8. The screws pretty much hold it... though I ran a bead of super glue on the inside of the seam too. Also used super glue a little in the dome. But that's your choice. Does this place ship international? They're the place that makes MMD Putty.
  9. So what is the best paint to get to make the helmet shiny and white but not "too white"? I've got Rust-Oleum Pro Enamel... and it's just really flat. Even when I spray Rust-Oleum Clear Coat on top of it it's still not ABS shiny. What method should I use or brand of paint should I use? I've read ----- But I'm hoping there's a brand and version that I can paint on without having to buff or anything else... or at least do as little of that as possible. Do I just need the Rust-Oleum Pro Enamel HIGH gloss... instead of simple 'gloss'? Or does the FUSION High Gloss look good? Any tips / suggestions / etc. would be greatly appreciated.
  10. Great pics! Love the one of the officer in the truck... very "Indiana Wars" And the one of the skiff bounty hunter (don't know his name) is sweet too! I love that BH!
  11. Thanks... I'm going to put more on tomorrow. I filled the ears btw... but I also did something "unexpected" with them... stay tuned!
  12. yeah, I'm going to use it on my MR CE too (which is coming along awesome btw!) If I can't find any I may be interested in that to buy. And, kid I do find some, I will post on here where I found it.
  13. Hey all, so I know this is asked (and answered) other places, but the threads are hard to find so for my sake (and the sake of others) I wanted to start a new thread. Please post links to places where to buy proper neck trim and neck seal. I believe you can order them from McMaster.com, but not sure what "part" numbers they are. Also, can you get this stuff (or close enough) at Lowes, Home Depot, or any other "local" US stores? If so, where??? What "department / area" of the stores? Thanks!! (The quicker the answers the better as I would love to buy some while I'm out and around town today...)
  14. That's what I use... more pricey, but I love 'em!

    WIRED Gallery

Many of you may have seen this already, but in case not, here's a great gallery of pics (mostly the same as from the book) of the Making of Star Wars on WIRED magazine's site. http://www.wired.com/entertainment/hollywo...allery_starwars

Totally, 100% agree! They need to be the troopers of the books and such. Just the sight of them are imposing and you know there's no use resisting.

    SW Live Action TV

While I want the show to be 100% Star Wars it would be cool to see some variations / new stuff, as well as if it were more of an "outer rim" feel (much like Firefly)... which, would mean probably more "TD" looking troopers for sure.

That may be right about it being between ROTS and ANH... I can't / couldn't remember exactly. I remember it being said it was at the "height of the Empire". So that makes more sense. And I know they talked about stormtroopers being in it, no mention of clones. And Boba Fett was in one article I read as well... which would be fun! More bounty hunters = always good. I think one of the things it will do for "us" as the 501st at least is get even more people interested in getting armor and joining. Also, I wonder if there will be a whole new set of "canon accurate" armor and helmets developed. What if all the TKs on the show have black tube stripes? haha
  19. So you've all heard that Uncle George is going to a live action TV show in the next couple of years that will focus on the time between ANH and ESB when the Empire was still very strong. The reports I've read have said that it will take place on worlds and in systems that are far away from Vader and the Emperor (long may he live) and that while we'll HEAR of them we'll never see them. But, and this is the part I (and I believe all other TKs) are excited about, you will see many, many stormtroopers. The good ole' white TKs we all love. Obviously, at least how I see it, there's going to be a resurgence in people recognizing TKs... but more than that KIDS are finally going to get filled up on them and not just clone troopers (which are good too). So, how do you think this will affect trooping?
  20. Oh, those are COOL! Man... that's one set of armor I wouldn't mind having one day... especially if they "catch on".
  21. Well, sounds like everyone is agreeing with me so far (for the most part). I have 8¢ total now. Come on... I'm sure I can get a dollar's worth out of this! Or at LEAST 25¢
  22. Good points so far... yes, that's what I'm thinking Steve... if I want canon / screen accurate, then get a bucket that is just that, with the bumps and warps and all. This isn't, so why try and make it more so? Anyone else have thoughts on this?
  23. So I'm following the great tutorial by Luis on modding the MR CE and I have a question of preference. Who thinks I should leave the gap, as Luis did, on the ears, and who thinks I should fill it in? I'm thinking of filling it in, and here's my thought process on why... Even with all the mods the bucket is an idealized bucket. It's symmetrical, it's perfectly shaped, doesn't have any bumps or warping to it. It's pretty much the "ideal" bucket. So, I'm thinking of just finishing it out that way as "idealized". Also, before I knew anything that I know now I thought that gap between the ears and the helmet was a mistake that people had because they hadn't taken the time to fill it in. Of course I know better now, but 90% of the people we "meet" while trooping probably don't know better. I suppose it obviously comes down to what it all comes down to. Do I want it to be as "canon" / "screen accurate" as possible, or do I want it to be what I want it to be? Of course I have to ask if the ears are filled in would it still meat elite standards... as that's something I want to get one day soon... but right now I'm just wondering preference. Are there those of you who like them filled, and if so why, and if not why not?
