ATA Armor Build for petit 5'1" Female
Darth Hilarious replied to Vader1's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I've put a call for help through to my good friend Merrilea (TK-9735) She's like 5'nothing, and should be able to help you Hopefully she'll show up soon with some pointers for you (she's not online everyday, but I spammed her through Failbook and our Garrison forum, so she should get the message) -
failing? Like coming undone, or breaking?
-
Uh no, Spotlight is the store here in Straya where we buy them All good though, Mathias provided a source because he's AWESOME
-
Here in Aussieland we just get them free with our snaps from Spotlight I can't even find them on the internets! Where does one buy these things?
-
dammit Nicky I just finished repairing the Sarcasm Detector And you go and break it again! lol
-
handy to know Looks like my precautions weren't a total waste of effort
-
E6000 is the bomb I have heard (unconfirmed) stories that it can heat up in contact with metal, so I put little bits of tape over the bottom of my snaps to prevent this possibility I may have been wasting my time, it's probably just an urban myth

Getting armor for my bf for xmas..
Darth Hilarious replied to Mookattacks's topic in ANH (Stunt and Hero)
The dudes in the movie suits weren't exactly huge (~5'10", 165lbs or so) so movie size kits fit that (with leeway either way) You can shrink a suit down an amazing amount by trimming types of kits out there with handy dandy descriptions -

whatever you do Avoid FX, AM & RT-mod They are all made for bigger people and will cause a ton more trimming work (found that one out the hard way, I did) -

the sculpted pecs on the suits are big enough to accomodate most boobs My kit fits my gf perfectly (same body size/shape) It's all about how to trim it to fit Bobojuice did a great thread on how he trimmed his missus' kit (they are not the same size, her kit can fit inside his) -
IIRC, Rubies also have a detachable vocoder

dude We didn't mention Mando Mercs because Chelsea asked about female TKs Last time I checked, Mandos aren't TKs See that's what we do here People ask questions and we answer them as best as we can Mathias gave a great answer (yes there are fems, but they're not canon) I don't really see how it's your place to tell Chelsea not to do a Fem if she wants to (lol, sexist much??) If you want my opinion, read my last post again, and read all of it this time We all have a different threshold of taking ourselves seriously I don't have a problem with short female canon TKs (note where I mention trooping with one) It's Chelsea who would be wearing the thing, and she's the one who needs to like it Besides 6-foot Jawas, I'm not too phased about body size/shape (btw the giant jawas play for laughs) I'm not telling anyone what costume they should or shouldn't do (that was you, remember?) There is far too much win in this thread to continue spamming it up with this crap If you want to discuss this further, PM me -

In my squad there is a 5-foot-nothing female canon TK She rocks it well Apparently Julie doesn't wish to be one of those, out of respect for the costume, because she takes TKs seriously (I don't wish to speak on her behalf, this is merely my understanding based on things she has said in the past) Everybody has a different level of 'taking themselves seriously' Honestly I don't know where the Legion draws its line 6-foot tall Jawas get 501st approval And they look pretty damn ridiculous possibly the dumbest thing I've ever seen So yeah, IDK Some people like Femtroopers Some have issues with them I'm going to bow out of this conversation until we hear what Chelsea thinks of it She's the one who'd be wearing it @ Chelsea: As you can see, some people hate Femtroopers But they are quite popular with the crowds I've seen them upstage Vader -

Keep in mind Julie has said numerous times in the past that she would do a 'proper' TK if she wasn't so short She probably wouldn't blend in so well in that pic above -

Does anyone NOT attach forearms to biceps?

CURSE THOSE MISSING STRAPS! /shakes fist -
A first rehersal, and first armour bites :)
Darth Hilarious replied to kaa1304's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I run my straps inwards on a diagonal angle, so it's always pulling the thighs outward Works for me (keep in mind, I'm rocking modded FX, so my thighs are weird and what works for me might not be so hot for you) Oh, also I'm using one of MightyTank's garters -

may I recommend putting a snap at one end only? You'll never misplace your strap as I did, and you only have to re-do one end -

Darth Hilarious replied to kaa1304's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
you might also be able to get you thighs to sit higher by rotating them outward slightly (hope that makes sense) Those armour bites look pretty br00tal Is there much of a return edge there? -
mine used to fall off often, E-6000 fixed it Don't forget to rough up the surface first if you glue

from what I've seen of these guys, being diplomatic won't help much I mean Really They defended themselves here by accusing TM of recasting RS think about that for just a minute

TK Armor Questions
Darth Hilarious replied to Dark Trooper's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
perhaps just take the O2 can faceplate into the store when you buy the pipe, and see what it fits onto nicest
