  1. So, Karin, what are the "non-latex" ones made from?
  2. Good work guys. Interestingly, I remember thinking it odd, because he at first seemed like he was pitching himself as a newbie but then seemed to always have something for sale. Anyway, nice catch. That's what makes this community so helpful, you form bonds and troopers look out for other troopers.
  3. The armour is one thing but that's also a serious workshop Robert.
  4. In regards to that photo of Lucas looking up at the "space" trooper...I recall seeing a behind the scene photo of that particular shot being filmed and swear I recall that the trooper(s) were standing on a bench of some sort. That may account for George needing to look up so high. BTW, Steven, I wouldn't worry about your height, you look great in your armour in that photo.
  5. All of the anecdotal evidence I have read definitely put their height below 6 feet. I do remember getting pretty excited because I seemed to see a lot of stories claiming 5'-7" to 5'-10" and about 165lbs....which makes me a good example ANH Trooper at 5'10", 165lbs.
  6. They returned my email immediately last night...they expect an order soon. However, they did not answer my question about returns. I guess I will just have to hope they fit!
  7. Just dropped 'em an email. I'll let everyone know the answer when it arrives.
  8. Makes me a little nervous to buy shoes without trying them on. Does anyone know if TKBoots has a return policy if they don't fit? I didn't see anything on their site about it.
  9. Surprised there wouldn't be more opportunities in Portland.
  10. That must feel great...and you guys look fantastic.
  11. A photo showing how I handled my ab shims. First, I flush mounted an ABS strip to my ab plate. On the inside I used several snaps to attach elastic straps that keep it flush to the kidney plate but still allows for some flex. The finished result looks seamless. I attached the top snap through so that the back shows on the outside, somewhat mimicking screen appearance. On the other side I used three (3) rivets to attach elastic to an identical flush, seamless ABS strip to the ab plate. I then attached the other side of the elastic to the kidney plate with snaps. Finally, I added three (3) rivets on the outside of the kidney plate to again approximate screen look. If anyone is curious I could take some photos showing internals.
  12. My FX was the same way, no button covers, so what I did was instead of using rivets I used the locations where those buttons should be and actually put my male snaps right through those locations then painted them up white.
  13. I placed two female snaps in my ab plate with corresponding male snaps on the fabric belt, hidden behind the plastic front section of the belt. As for the belt itself, nice wide strips of velcro in the back. Pretty much like Dennis describes above.
  14. Pat, did you have to paint your entire armour to match up with the ab plate or is that Krylon a dead on match for the ABS?
  15. Thanks Panda, it was your recent video post on return edges that finally pushed me over the edge (pardon the pun). I plan on fiddling with it a bit more but the early results had me excited. And anyone else out there thinking about it, it isn't difficult but does require patience.
  16. Boots, detonator, holster, e-11, a few odd straps here and there for fit = complete April should not be a problem.
  17. So back in October, before I discovered FISD, I made the rookie mistake of purchasing some armour off of Ebay. About a week later I discovered FISD and the dreaded mistake I had made. The good news is I didn't pay a fortune for it and the members of FISD helped heal my wounds with some encouragement to make the best of it and it would work out fine. With that in mind, I made the FX lid and immediately gave it to my 6 year old son, who could hardly believe that he has a "real" Stormtrooper helmet, and went to work assembling the armour. I am now on the cusp of being complete and have played around and made some upgrades to the FX armour including playing around with return edges. I plan on posting some more pics, hopefully inspiring some other troopers with less than top-of-the-line armour to make the best of it and, indeed, it will work out just fine. I believe it was Daetrin who said to me, "troop it until it falls apart". To start with here is the slight return edge I decided to add to the shoulder bells. It's subtle, but I am quite pleased with the look, so decided to post a quick pic.
  18. This is the company/product I used. It looks like the have international dealers so maybe you can find it at a local hobby shop. the product number is PLS91105 -------
  19. I have an ABS suit (.093) but opted to use .060 Styrene for my ab plate shims. The colour actually matched up pretty well and I found that the thinner and, therefore, more flexible material works better in this area. So your idea of 1mm ABS would probably work well. Unfortunately, being in the US I can't help you with where to obtain it in the UK though mate. Cheers! Rob
  20. This is great. Always amazed at the level of effort troopers will go to on here to help out.
