  1. ...and so it begins. May start a blaster build thread in proper forum but wanted to get it started here as a cross link.
  2. Snaps are the way to go. As a newbie I originally thought velcro would be easier and made sense, but quickly ripped it all out and used snaps for everything.
  3. Whoohoo!! Boots finally on the way. This essentially means getting my blaster together and I am complete!
  4. This looks fantastic!
  5. I am 5-10, 165lbs and the FX armor fits me with pretty much no size modifications, at your size I think it would be too small. Besides, you'll want something more accurate than FX (which they don't make anymore anyway). The ATA helmets are nice though. I think I have heard a lot of people say RT-mod armor fits larger troopers. Don't worry, the experts on here will chime in and help you out in no time.
  6. I can see it just fine...looks good.
  7. This seller received good reviews in another thread on here.
  8. Oooh, a milkjug trooper. Hey, at least the material is accurate. side note: I am a little disturbed that this thread has more interest than my build thread
  9. Darn, I was going to bid on it....it's brilliant.
  10. I can't stop looking. It's so bad, it's good.
  11. Looks like a school project. I give it a B+. Wait! I've figured it out, this is AA's mold.
  12. Correct, it has an unnecessary, in my opinion, return on the top of the ab plate. Wondering if that may help the chest sit a little better. That and some straps from chest to back which I see a lot of people do.
  13. I hadn't thought about cutting off that return to help lay the chest flat.....hmmmm.
  14. Thanks Pat. I also separated and lowered my codpiece and slightly trimmed my belt. I am thinking I may need to widen my neck hole as well, as I can feel it pushing against my neck, even through the neck seal. What are your thoughts on flaring out my chest plate a bit? Or does it look ok to you?
  15. If you have the funds, TM does seem to be the way to go.
  16. Hey Tore, just for reference, but I am about 5'-10", 165 lbs. I had to do some fairly significant mods to the thighs to make them shape nicely to my thinner legs. Also, the ab plate was quite shallow, so even though I am not large I still had to add shims to the ab plate to close them with the kidney plate. This is my first build so I just wanted you to see that, indeed, you can do it even without any experience. http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=14011&st=0
  17. Definitely FX....but the girl looks cute.
  18. Yeah, sorry about the small pics. So, besides putting some straps from chest to back to hold it together I also think I might heat up the chest and pull the sides out a bit. Looking at the photos it looks too narrow.
  19. OK, decided to do an almost complete test fit and post some shots. There are still some things to tweak and such but wanted to post something that showed more progress. I don't have my boots yet so still not final on how those greaves will sit. Holster not attached properly yet and, yes, I only have one glove on (needed one hand free to work camera). Sorry for the glare from the light behind me. Anyway, just wanted to level set and get some more progress posted. Try not to beat me up too much about screen accuracy, keep in mind, it's a set of FX with an SDS lid.
  20. Thanks Dan, I seem to see a lot of variation on this...probably due to people trying to adjust them to cover as much black as possible. Might take your recommendation though.
  21. Finished up my dropboxes. Took a different approach than the more traditional "inner" dropbox. Simply traced the dropbox onto a sheet of .060 styrene, cut it out, sanded it and attached. Cut a small slit for the strapping to fit through and attached with a rivet. Also placed a small patch of fuzzy velcro over the rivet to avoid scratches on thigh armor.
  22. Ahhh, so a secret, magical mix? Niiiiiice.
  23. So, Karin, what are the "non-latex" ones made from?
