<p>I know the AM shins are very big but they look pretty loose. Can you wrap them any tighter? Other than the direction of the seam, I thought each side was pretty symmetrical. many people also make them one piece, wrapped around to the sides and screwed in with the ear screws. Also makes for easy replacement like you were asking for.

Oh, I should mention I am building this to go with AM armor. I already have the rivets and details in place. I have the rubber hand guards and TD clips. Just needed the helmet and blaster to go EIB, if not centurion...

I painted a together helmet before, and thought it'd be easier to get the vocoder laying flat. I also thought the eyes needed opened some, but you know how it goes, once you take it off, can not put back LOL! I'll work it a bit. Photos do not show, but I also rhino-lined the inside while apart.

I am finally upgrading my FX. I have my clone now, and it is time to get the TK to EIB status. Unfortunately, I am not a great painter, but I am trying. I wanted to do this one on my own I got the eyes and teeth cut out. I am working on the paint, and it looks like I need to go a bit higher on the 2nd tooth on both sides to me. What do you all think of the eye cut outs and teeth?

Paint will "wrinkle" when it forms a skin over the base coat/primer of which it is applied. This can happen for many reasons such as the top of the paint coat drying faster than the bottom, too thick of an application of the paint, paint that is applied to a primed surface in which the primer was not allowed to fully dry. It can also occur when paint is applied to extremely hot or cool surfaces or durring high humidity. Dirt or wax surfaces can also cause the paint to wrinkle. To avoid these situations, sand down the affected areas and apply a new coat of primer. Allow the primer to fully dry and repaint using nice even, light coats. Was a great event! Always a pleasure to pose with the amazing femtrooper Julie, even if she was in pilot gear! She is great at getting the little girls up to the booth too! Quite a few were surprised that we had a girl pilot with us! This was more of a swap meet type show. There were many vendors with cool stuff. I found a 501st Stormtrooper for $10 and a Rex Bobble Head for $5! Julie is right about the colors of our doors. They are too light. I want to repaint to match the photo banner, add more lights, and maybe like a blinky keypad on the side.

I troop in Hawaii, and it does get warm and muggy. I use a regular FX helemt for routine trooping, and have an AP on the way for detailed look I did just like above, and cut the black lines with my dremel, then have an exhaust fan pushing air out of it.

My apologies, I misunderstood the post! What was wrong with the Triktoys when you tried it? I am in the same boat as Julie. I have never heard a hyperdyne in person. I do not like the way the trik toys is just a bare board, and for the price you'd think they could at least include the patch cord. However the burst mode works just fine, and sound better than just the amp.

There are two things you are comparing here. A friend of mine had the triktoys amp, not impressive. It was not very loud and he got rid of it for an Aket. I have the trik toys sound card, very impressive. It is not $55 though. I run the Aker amp with a Bolun wireless mic and the trik toys sound board added in. The static burst is very effective, very adjustable, and the random sounds plus blaster effect is an even better bonus. So I can confirm TK6294's rumor, the trik toys sound board is real, it does the same stuff, and sounds darn good for a good value.

I'll have to get a clip up of this setup! I have been running a bolun wireless mic on my aker amp. I have the radio chatter MP3 looping off an Ipod shuffle. I ordered the triktoys sound board back in early October. They had some shipping delays. It showed up this week. I needed a patch cord to plug it in and did not have time to make it to Radio shack until tonight. (With the price you would expect maybe an included patch cord or two?) Once I got it up and running, it sounds really good! I have the amp mounted low in the chest. I can turn it up 50% and the mic is at about 10% gain or I get feedback, but it sure seems loud and clear to me! Overall, I am very happy with the unit. Shipping was very slow, and I would prefer that the unit was mounted in a box, but overall, good little accessory for my armor!

If you look at the photos, the shins can be well below the thighs. Like the sniper plate does not touch. Yours look too high.If they were on the boots they should look fine.

AM is great stuff for routine trooping duty! Looks pretty sharp too! Just get a good helmet and a few upgrades and you'll rock any event Side by side with an old FX, mine is 800X better.

TE was experimenting with a set, last I heard he is not selling them now. Ritchie's armor is the only maker I know of now. There are rumors one of the makers has something pending though. Julie is using Ritchie now, and the TE set is to big for her. We'll trim it down at the outpost. It is a nice set.
